Hey guys... Supposed to fly into VPS to speak at a conference on the 11th of April. Flying in on the 10th, get in at like, 10am... Have the day to myself. Checked out the Dropzones section, but it appears that every dropzone in Florida is a minimum of 300 miles away from VPS/Emerald Coast. Anyone know a DZ that's closer? I'd love to get a jump or two in... http://tinyurl.com/rgf3r is where I'll be... Any ideas? Thanks! _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

A few years ago my number was one number off from Telecharge. People would call and ask about tickets to broadway shows. Usually I told them they had the wrong number, but if I'd had a bad day or something, I'd tell them "well, we just had a cancellation for Phantom - Row D, center section, Orchestra. You can pick the tickets up under your last name. But you know that NYC is in a traffic/parking stage 4 alert today, right?" "No, what's that?" "Oh, it means you have to park in Jersey and take mass transit in." "Oh." Heh. Hell will be a fun place. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" As my 5,000 hop and pop clear and pull on Saturday at the Ranch which went something like, "ENOUGH WITH THE SNIVEL WILL YOU PLEASE F%CKING OPEN ALREADY WITH ENOUGH FABRIC TO COVER THE SUPERDOME FOR F%CKS SAKE OH, THERE WE GO..." I saw those photos and my first thought was also - damn, those leg straps look loose... If mine were that loose, I'd be tasting chest strap when I opened. I live in the 50's right on the Hudson - so, assuming I leave at 6:30am on a Sat: My apt to the bridge: 6 or so mins. Bridge to Palisades to 87 - 18-20 mins... 30 mins on 87... OK, maybe 1:15/1:20... You can never tell with the lights off exit 17. Once you're passed the town, though, it's clear flying to 44/55. Of course, the Plattekill cops don't like it too much (or they love it, depending on the price of the fine...) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" For 45 seconds to a minute, no one can reach me. No cell phones, no pagers, no email, no clients... No employees. No drama, no phone calls to return, messages to read, people to placate. Me. It's me, it's all about me, and it's all about me. My therapist told me that the stupidest thing I could do would be to give up skydiving - it's the one thing (it used to be running, still kinda is, but not so much anymore) that's just about me. And everyone needs something that's just about them. Everyone. Oh, and after you're licensed, it's a shitload cheaper than coke, for a MUCH better high. You know. so they tell me. ;-) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Easy without breaking a sweat means you're not getting anything from the run. Means your body has adapted, and you're just exercising at "average." I just came out of a meeting, and was walking back to my office on 57th St. I stopped at a pizza place on 41st street to grab a slice that I knew I'd have to run 4 miles to burn off later. I order, and step back. Guy behind me orders. I couldn't make the following up if I tried. "Can I have two meatball sandwiches, a Tuna on wheat, and two lemonades, please?" I blinked, then couldn't help myself. I looked right at the guy and said, "Are you so hungry that you could eat the acid out of the ass of a dead rhino?" To which the guy looked at me and said, "Excuse me?" Dejected (And bummed that probably the only time in my life I'd have a chance to say that was not gotten, reference-wise), I said, "Never mind, I thought you were someone else," UNTIL... The guy behind HIM, turned to me and said, "Hey, see that Lincoln pull up?" My eyes brightened again! I turned to him and said "What Lincoln?" Then we both said, in unison, "FBI! FREEZE!" and things like "BOHDI, THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL! I! AM! AN! FBI! AGENT!" We spent the next minute or two shouting out other assorted lines, until my pizza arrived and I walked out. As I walked out, I turned around and said "Thank you very much, and please! Don't forget to vote!" I walked out in TEARS, it was so damn funny. 30 people in the restaurant, easily - none of them having a CLUE as to what we were doing. Only in New York, kids. Only in New York. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues." -

Before you start taking supplements, can I suggest making sure you're properly hydrated? I find that if I drink a TON of water before I go to bed, and then another few glasses when I have the obligatory "you must pee now" wake up call at 4am, then when I go for my run at 6:30am, I'm totally good with it, and never logey. It's only if I'm not hydrated that I lose steam really fast. Had a friend who used to say, "Wanna run better or faster? Run better or faster." Use to piss me off something fierce that he was right. Guys: Gotta burn a credit voucher on Continental by next Friday, or I lose it. Thinking of blowing off Wednesday and Thursday of next week and jumping someplace warm. 1) What's open during the week? 2) It has to be HOT. Like 90 degrees at sunrise, but I'll take the warmest I can get. 3) Friendly DZ 4) Preferably within an hour of a major city. So where should I go? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
