From PopBitch today: http://www.popbitch.com Eastenders' Michelle Ryan scores the lead role in the re-make of the Bionic Woman. The show is much praised and secures a prime-time run on NBC. In the show Michelle is a super-fit tennis pro, who gets a $50 million bionic body after a skydiving accident which gives her super-strength. Executives from other networks and at least one top casting agent have been heard gossiping this week about Michelle's "massive weight problem". Because, of course, a sportswoman should look just like Nicole Richie. Women just can't win in LA. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

When I was seven years old, I had a fight with a swimming pool. I dove in, figuring the bottom of the pool would move. It didn't, and pop went my top two front teeth. Since then, I've had caps where my top two front teeth should be. No one notices. After about 25 years, I've decided it's time to have them replaced. Two weeks ago I went in for fittings and moldings, and today I go in, they knock out the two caps, and put in temps to let my gums heal for about a month. Knocking out my two front teeth in no way is how I want to be spending my Thursday afternoon. Looped up on Novacaine or not, I'm still in no way shape or form looking forward to this. It shouldn't bother me - Needles don't bother me - I had a freakin' BRAIN TUMOR when I was 14 - complete with 78 spinal taps. This is nothing. So why am I more scared about my teeth (fake teeth, even) being extracted, then I was about anything else? I'd make a horrible spy if I were ever caught. Poor Peter. Send me sympathy. And vibes. And cookies. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

When I jumped in the spring of 06 for the first time since losing 30 pounds, my "normal" flare that slowed me down in the past offered me, this time, 20 extra feet of lift. "and ready, ready, FLARE... WHAT THE FUCK!?!?" PLF. Damn wingloading. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Is Eloy open/busy during the week, say, Tues/Weds?

ntrprnr replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
I remember showing up on a thursday once at around 2pm and it was virtually closed because it was too hot. That still the case? Have to blow a ticket on Continental that I'll lose otherwise, and was thinking about an overnight to Eloy. Any thoughts? _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" Not so much Carmella, I don't think. But AJ and Meadow, definitely. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

See how upset Tony was when AJ nearly died last night? And how upset he got when he gave Coco the curb job? Multiply that by a million, and you have why she'd get whacked. Her dying would be worse than Tony's own death to Tony. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

I'd say last night was his best acting yet (granted, not saying much, but still - AJ's gotten better.) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Get a donut (ringed pillow) to sit on. Mine still hurts from a bruise almost two years ago. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's gonna hurt for a while. :-( _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

Anyone else ever hear it called that? Over at Television Without Pity (Yeah, I'm getting a lot of work done today) they're calling what Tony did to Coco "a curb job." Never heard that one before. Only question - How the HELL are they gonna wrap all this shit up in TWO EPISODES??? Think about story lines that need to end: Tony v Carmella AJ v Life Meadow v Life (My bet is she gets whacked) Melfi Pauli (Bet is he lives, just to piss us off) and about a hundred other things... Heard a rumor the next two episodes are going to run long. Any thoughts on last night? (Syl reading "How to Clean Anything" was the funniest bit of the whole night, followed by Melfi's shrink suckling from the water bottle.) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" Trust me. I accurately called both "Song for the Lonely" in 02, and "ATB's "Don't Stop" in 03.

Of course. Long before the "Energy drink" phase. Stuff tasted like shit, but it worked. Got through Sophomore year of college on it. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."

So who's good enough to make a jump with an experimental camera?
ntrprnr replied to ntrprnr's topic in Photography and Video
Got something interesting for you. Check this out: http://www.immersivemedia.com - They're a client. 3-D immersive video from a camera with 11 lenses. Sick stuff. Go play with some of the demos. They'll truly blow your mind. They want to showcase their technology in a way that blows people's minds. Of course, I thought of doing a skydive with the camera. Then I saw what's needed to actually record the video, and it's about 40 pounds of stuff, plus the camera. I'm SO not there yet. So I figured I'd post the query on DZ, and offer it to a skygod - I (and probably someone from the company) would fly out to wherever their drop zone is, and work with them, letting them jump with the equipment, etc. It'd be killer video - guaranteed media exposure for whomever does it. So then... Who's up for it? Email me to my REGULAR EMAIL - peter shankman.com, and talk to me. How would it be done? Where are you located? How many jumps have you done? Have you jumped experimental stuff before? If you have to ask yourself if you're ready for something like this, you're probably not... It is, though, an amazing opportunity to jump and record a 360 degree view of a skydive - Imagine doing a sit-fly with ten friends, and they're ALL IN THE FRAME, AT ALL TIMES. Or imagine being the base of a 20-way, and everyone is on video, during the entire jump? So let's chat. I'd love to make this happen sometime this summer. Thanks! -Peter (who so wants to do it, but is so NOT even REMOTELY close to being ANYWHERE NEAR ready.) _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" Anyone here that has flown Continental Airlines?
ntrprnr replied to skyberdyber's topic in The Bonfire
Considering how downhill ALL of the major US Airlines have gone in the past ten years, Continental is still the best in the industry. Obviously, their first class product on the 777 (Called Business First) is superior to other Business Classes on other airlines, but not as great as other first classes (for instance, Singapore Air's flat beds which are to DIE for...) But for Coach, they're not terrible, either. Try and get a coach row before row 22, and you'll have power outlets to plug in for your laptop. Fly them. They're a good airline. _______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" "Even in freefall, I have commitment issues."
