  1. I just passed through PR on my way to St. Croix. Not too impressed, expensive hotels and think there are better values for your money. BTW stay away from St.Croix- crime is rampant. The folks I traveled with were mugged at gunpoint less than 5 minutes after arriving at our hotel. During our 1 week stay 2 other couples had the same thing happen. I did 10 days in Costa Rica at Thanksgiving and would highly recommend it. I did a white water rafting trip that included an overnight stay in a jungle lodge. Adventure Naturales was the outfitter. We also went to the rainforest, Volcano and coastal beach area. Zip line tours through the jungle were a blast.
  2. I just wnet the other way- 190 Spectre to a 170 sabre2. There was little to no difference in the pack volume although the reference table show a 8-10% difference. The method of calculating pack volume is not exactly precision. I believe any difference will easily be compensated for using the closing loop. As always- consult your rigger
  3. I have the HC42 that does require the docking station. I don't believe the HC40 does.Pluses and minuses depending on your needs and personal taste. HC42 has true wide screen capability.
  4. Try tattoofinder.com They have lots of artists and plenty of samples to choose from. Much better than usual flash. They do charge for the download, but its 10 bucks on artwork you'll carry on your body for the rest of your life. You'll make your tatto artist happy too, that a good thing...
  5. I'm really quite happy for you. Just don't get your "joy" all over my repack.
  6. Way to go! 6 years on the 19th for me. Nice to know there ARE folks that give a shit.
  7. I'd be very interested to know as well. I lost my Spectre 190 at Richmond this year. Replaced it with a new Sabre2 170. Because of business travel and crappy weather I only have 4 jumps on it. Landings are beautiful. Openings have been Ok but not predictable. I've had 3 where the slider hung up about 1/2 down. Just required some pumping- for the most part on heading. One was very brisk- not a slammer but quick- the slider didn't hang up on that one. I pulled it out a bit in an attempt to overcome the hang-up problem. Have a afriend at the DZ who said the opening just get better with time on his Sabre2- new last year. So I guess time will tell.
  8. Nice summary of the potential maximum cost of a cutaway- I just experienced that to the tune of $2200. You can replace gear. The monetary cost of executing emergeny procedure should never be a factor in deciding to chop or not. I packed my own- never a rush job, meticulous care of equipment. When you throw a wad of nylon into the wind at 120 MPH anythng can happen- even to a "perfect" pack job. I'll get to try my new toy this weekend
  9. There are many paths to take in life- I've followed your saga and it appeaars you've taken the high road at all times- this is no exception. integrity always prevails. Keep the faith
  10. Tommy! Diet Coke only- but in his memory Hope to see you this weekend with a new main
  11. Because I lost my main at Richmond last week. New one on the way for next weekend- know watch it rain.
  12. Same here! I lost my main and reserve goodies at Richmond. (UGH!- Great boogie otherwise) Ward hooked me up quickly and at the best price- including a new main. There isn't too much margin to work with but he found a way to help ease the pain slightly. Most importantly- he was responsive- I sent out quote requests to 8 different gear dealers and never heard back from 6 of them- I'd be shocked if business was so good that they could turn away business. I've had excellent customer service from Mirage and continue to-
  13. "not clinically acceptable" I'd tell this uptight ass-hat to go pound salt. Would unruley nose hair be "clinically unacceptable" ? how about uni-brow or heaven forbid a PIMPLE. Some of the best professionals I know are the ones that spend less time looking the part and more time being good at it. Appearance is no subsitute for performance
  14. I just got an HC42 mounted on an Optic. I use the stock Sony .6 WA lens. About $30 including shipping. I'm pleased with the results.
  15. Is this completely un-cocked? Mine will move 1/4" so the telltale ink mark is out of the viewing window on the bridle- I just made the ink mark a bit bigger. Can't say I'd recommend tying a knot in the bridle- one slip in concentration could have disasterous results. Not a rigger- so lets see what they say
  16. Chris definately made the right decison- I was front float - hanging on to the POS 207T just waiting for the count sometime before my arms ripped from the sockets. Not the most briliantly planned skydeive- but fun. Chris did make it up to me with some coaching today.
