  1. In Denmark, there are no requirements for jumping with a fullface... I agree... Some of the requirements that you are listing do seem really weird.
  2. We are a couple of guys at our dropzone who like to do some high altitude semi-CRW (no contact) during the summer. Try to convince some of your friends to come along with you. That will make it even better. At sunset, the scenery can be amazing... http://halfer.dk/IMG_5605.jpg
  3. Believe it or not I went to that exact site and read the 10-22mm review just before making my post. Obviously I didn't look closely enough, I just went back and read it again and found the part where they talk about resolution. They basically say at the center, at the right aperture and zoom level, it may barely exceed the XT's 8MP. Otherwise not. So maybe I'll just stick with my XT. There's no way I'm buying a new lens any time soon. Good choice... The 10-22mm is the best ultra-wide for APS-C cameras. For better results you would have to go full-frame, with a 16-35mm L or 17-40mm L... That's an entirely different price (and weight) class.
  4. There are a lot of databases on the web with in-depth review of lenses. One that i use quite frequently is http://www.photozone.de/. Your 10-22mm should be found there, among a wide selection of original and 3rd party lenses.
  5. That being said, the new 18-55mm IS kit lens actually delivers quite impressive resolution figures, when the pricetag is taken into consideration.
  6. It's true that the jump from 10MP to 12MP isn't nearly as significant as some people think. Especially for normal photography when you can take your time and frame your subject with the viewfinder. But for skydiving photography where framing is almost never perfect, and cropping is almost always necessary, every little extra bit of resolution helps. Well... To really make use of those extra 2 MP, you will have to buy very sharp lenses... Canons L-series, for example. For the majority of photographers, who use kit lenses or 3rd party consumer lenses, the difference in sensor resolution doesn't really matter.
  7. And here's a video of the previous record with the VX-39: http://youtube.com/watch?v=EySsxFRd1gM Crazy...
  8. The colors are slightly enhanced... In the b&w photos quite heavily... I like to have a lot of detail in the shadows and highlights. And... Usually i give the blues a little tweak in luminosity and saturation, to add a little more contrast between the clouds and the sky, without affecting the rest of the photo. As for my camera setup: For aerial photos, i shoot on Av (Aperture priority). In that way, i make sure that sharpness is good throughout the photo, while the camera gives me the shortest exposure time available. I always shoot in raw mode. That gives considerably more dynamic range, and thus adds to flexibility when processing the photos later on. snafuhere: I like sc-2.jpg... A spectacular motive. A little tip: Crop it to straighten the horizon, and it will be even better.
  9. Like already mentioned there a lot of things to consider, when setting your SLR for the jump. I find the focus being most important. I usually set my camera to manual focus and fixate the focus ring (with gaffa) to the distance that i will be shooting. Furthermore i want a good depth-of-field, so i'm setting the camera to aperture priority (Av) with a value of about f9. That will also increase the optical performance on most lenses. ISO setting is 400, at most Use daylight White Balance... The Auto WB setting will do fine too. Bear in mind that those settings will only work in bright daylight. In the evening or in overcast weather, you will have to increase the ISO, and use a wider aperture. Those settings have generally given me some good pictures in the air... But on the ground they are totally useless... It all depends on the situation.
  10. Trying to compensate for the winter in Denmark, i have been editing some of my old photos from 2007. http://halfer.dk/galleri Enjoy! If you have some nice photos from the past season, please let us see them. They are warming, in a cold time.
  11. Thank you! ... Amazing pictures! Do you want me to add any credits??
  12. Well... I have an equal amount of camera gear on my own helmet, and i am happy to share my photos with anyone just in order to promote the sport.
  13. Hi folks.... My home dropzone is having a booth at a local trade exhibition. For that purpose we are in need of high-res photos of freeflyers. Does anyone have some photos which they could share??
