  1. Confirmed the problems with this cam... Ebaaaayyyyyyy....
  2. yesterday I tried it a couple more times. First: with steady shot on, and manual speed of 215, bad. (Ill not try faster speeds than that, I dont like still propellers.) Second: without steady shot, same speed, better, but blurry images in some turbulent positions. Third: HC7 goes to Ebay, and maybe get an HC5, I think the problem is the optical steady shoot...
  3. yes, minimal but is there in some circunstances. I checked my footage from Thailand, and some of the high speed exits still show it, and in some positions in a sit fly with my big wings, when is turbulence around my helmet. This is with the steady shot of, which is a shame because I allways use it. Maybe is the optical stabilizer the problem. For me the HC7 was a better option than the HC5 because of the mic input, phones output, the control dial and the 2.28 mpix resolution against 1.43, but if is the optical versus electronic stabilizer what is causing the shake...too bad. Ill try to find a solution and post the results.
  4. Hola Henny, I switch to the HC7 because I never liked the long shape of the HC1 with my side by side top mount set up, makes me put forward the still cam to be able to use the 10.5 lens. And I like the more compact body of the HC7, plus hdmi out, much better screeen, top loading tape, better resolution... I turning off the steady shot and the wide angle set up in the menu to see if change something. Now Im jumping from C130's at the Thai Sky Fest, and I having some shake on the exits from the 130 knots speed. Its not nearly as bad as the TRV900 which I owned, but again with the same exact set up, I didnt have any of this with the goodoll hc1. Im using a neoprene condom cover all the cam including the wide angle lens. Gustavo
  5. Hi All, I just exchange my HC1 for the HC7, and I having the old TRV900 shakes and vibrations when I fly in some positions, like diving hard, stand up, basically when is turbulence around my helmet the image is terrible. Im very disapointed because I dont have any of this whith my HC1. Is mounted on a Flat top, with a neoprene cover. Any suggestion to fix it? Thanks a lot, Gustavo
  6. Same with me, RWS needs to replace my leg straps because of the damage caused to the webbing by the wings attached to the hip ring. I would not recomend this practice at all. I also use two 1" plastic clips in the front and back on my Falcon Suit (the best suit I ever flown), and is perfect for belly and back flying. Gustavo
  7. Hola Ken, with my D80 finally I feel I jump an skydiving friendly Nikon dslr. After the D100 (slow for Nefs), D1X (bad batteries), D70 (O.K.), D2X (the bomb, but heavy, big and expensive, only for really good stuff), Im in love with this little camera. 10 megapixels is all you need, and have all the controls, including high speed flash synch at any speed (with the SB800 strobe). The connector for the shutter release is a pain (much better is the Canon miniplug), but is good enough they put a socket this time... Start with the 18-70, is a super nice lens for the money, tape it in a 18mm setting and shoot, shoot, shoot (for years I only have a 28mm -equivalent of the 18mm in the film era-), then experiment with the rest. For example a Nikon 16mm, which gives you a field of view of a 19mm in a film camera, and a nice touch of barrel effect. And then if you want more just get the 10.5 and you will have a real fish eye lens 180 degrees. I like it but you need to be really close, is like a different game, to get good pics you need lots of practice, or be Bruno Brokken who is the master of fish eyes.... I like the ergonomics of the Nikon bodies, and the lenses (the 16 and the 70-200VR are sweeet!!!) But in the end doesnt matter which camera you choose, at the actual level of them, they are all good. Enjoy the still world!
