  1. As I figured, the moderators were not going to let my thread go. Too bad. We are all engines of karma
  2. Judith Curry https://judithcurry.com/ is a sane voice in this conversation. This issue has 3 parts: 1) Does CO2 increase the global temperature? 2) Are feedbacks positive or negative, and will it be catastrophic? 3) Is anything being proposed by governments going to make a difference? The physics of CO2 tending to increase temperature cannot be disputed. The question is what is the magnitude of those changes. The major issue is whether there are positive or negative feedback that will exacerbate this. The global alarmists claim that the positive feedbacks will drive the temperature up 3+ degC. That is open to debate, and the models and observations are not showing that. It's clear to any rationale person who has read through the issues that proposals from governments will not have _ANY_ impact what so ever on effects being considered. Water vapor is the dominant green house gas by far. Warming due to water vapor is about 60 degF, by itself. Our species would not be here if it weren't for green house warming. People saying that another 2 degF is going to destroy our way of life are less than fully informed, IMO. We are all engines of karma
  3. See the thread I just started, and comment there, before I'm banned. We are all engines of karma
  4. Full disclosure here - I fully expect that I'm going to be banned for this thread. The moderators of this website are not going to allow any discussion of this word. And they will be part of the problem, not part of the solution, IMO. Our ex-AG Eric Holder was almost right in saying we need to have a conversation about race. But, it's not a conversation about skin color that needs to be had. It's a conversation about behavior that needs to be had. In New York City, 3 out of every 5 black babies are aborted. Of the remaining 2 out of 5, 70% of them are born into single mother households dependent on government largess, and are pretty much doomed to a life of poverty. From what I'm reading, those numbers stand up across the country. The most dangerous place for a black child is in the mother's womb. There is something wrong with this picture, and most rationale people will agree with that. The school systems these folks have are failing massively, and no one seems to care. Why the parents of black children who survive out of the womb aren't screaming in the streets for better schools is beyond my understanding. Of the 500 people killed by law enforcement this year, only 125 were black. And yet black "leaders" are focusing on that, not the unbelievable statistics regarding black education. Too much is made of felonious blacks that don't obey law officers commands. Really? This is the best black "leaders" can do? Scream injustice when law officers are threatened and respond accordingly? Now, black-on-black crime is sky rocketing. And we have angry blacks killing police officers, with Obama's sympathies (..."these people have valid concerns"). Nigger culture (...that's right, I'm using that word) is one where uncivilized behavior is lauded. Having multiple children out of wedlock with more than one male, none of whom ever sit down and have dinner with their offspring. And the rest of tax paying Americans have to pay for that. It's outrageous. Yet, you're not allowed to discuss that. What is culture? It's simple. It's what you mom and your dad teach you at the dinner table. Daniel Patrick Moynihan was right with his report in 1965: https://web.stanford.edu/~mrosenfe/Moynihan's%20The%20Negro%20Family.pdf And it's only gotten worse. Niggers have yet to figure out how to live in a civilized society. This is _NOT_ the "white mans" fault. Guilty liberals have defined a whole new language for victim-hood, that is utter nonsense. It must stop. One part of the beauty of being an American is you are expected to take care of yourself and your family. It's time for Niggers to step up and handle that. Instead of spending money to encourage out of wedlock children, etc., it's time for the government to expect civilized behaviour. Comments? We are all engines of karma
  5. You've been around long enough that you should know better than bringing real facts to an argument with liberals. We are all engines of karma
  6. That happened one mile from where I and my BR friends grew up. If they find them, I hope the BRPD/EBRS guys run out of ammo. We are all engines of karma
  7. Yes, as long as the formation you launched is the first point of the dive. We are all engines of karma
  8. Did he live just across the border in Oregon? I made a couple of Halloween 40-way jumps with him in Lodi back in the late 1980s. I remember those as epic weekends ;-) We are all engines of karma
  9. Have you been reading my other posts, about HUDs radical attempts to force this into Westchester communities? It's not something I want to be true, it's happening now. We are all engines of karma
  10. Another solution would be to make sure they get a decent education. The poor areas tend to have poor performing schools. That's a cycle that needs to be broken, and it looks like charter schools are setting a good precedent for that. We are all engines of karma
  11. We'll have to agree to disagree on that. That Republican politician is Rob Astorino, who actually took the fight to HUD to prevent them from steamrolling over our neighborhoods. You should remember his name. He'll probably be the next governor of New York, and something bigger after that. We are all engines of karma
  12. I'm not familiar with the author, or any of his books. Which book are you referring to? If you're interested in that topic, I highly recommend the Senate's report on it: Wall Street and The Financial Crisis: Anatomy of a Financial Collapse. Be sure to read Pinto's write-up in the appendix. He was CFO for FreddieMac, and diagnosed the problem long before it exploded. This is another example of the government forcing markets in the wrong direction. Banks were forced to underwrite loans that should never have been written. That was the seed that rotted the whole housing market's infrastructure. We are all engines of karma
  13. It's the title of the article in the newspaper. We are all engines of karma
  14. The article you posted doesn't talk about the process by which HUD intends to make this happen. Landlords will not be allowed to deny Section 8 applicants, and HUD wants to change zoning laws at will. In addition, it doesn't describe what happened in those Dallas neighborhoods. You'll find many other articles on this by googling "westchester county vs. HUD" HUD has been trying to use Westchester as an experiment with this for years now. Here's a 2011 Daily News article by Rob Astorino, the County Executive: HUD’s warped war on Westchester: Our county is already diverse Here's a 2013 Forbes article on this issue: The 800-Pound HUD Gorilla Here's 2015 article about HUDs brazen attempt to take actions without review against the County, which was stopped by a Federal Court: Federal Court Gives Westchester a Victory in County's Fight over Affordable Housing My point: HUD, and especially it's current Housing Secretary Julian Castro, are tyrants. Everyone should be aware of what they're trying to do. We are all engines of karma
  15. Expect some form of personal responsibility from them, and expect them to get a job at some point. We are all engines of karma
  16. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) is an American think tank that analyzes the impact of federal and state government budget policies from a progressive viewpoint. The article you quoted is a propaganda piece, IMO. HUD has been trying to impose this on Westchester for quite some time now. They've been withholding federal funds from Westchester, even though the county government is in compliance with a legal ruling won when the prior County Executive took federal money for housing and didn't spend it for housing. HUD continues to try and expand the terms of the ruling, aggressively so. In addition to forcing any landlord to accept section 8 housing, they want the ability to change zoning laws at will. Simple tyranny. We are all engines of karma
  17. Have a mom and a dad in the house, one or more of whom has a job. The title is what it is, I had nothing to do with it. We are all engines of karma
  18. This thread is attempting to have a conversation about the Federal government and Section 8 housing participants. It's not about the Federal government forcing who can use which bathroom, which is suitable for another thread. We are all engines of karma
  19. Liberal thought has decayed to such a point where they are discussing which bathrooms someone can use. Just making sure I'm clear, to avoid needless harping. We are all engines of karma
  20. To be clear, I really don't care what color your skin is. It's behavior that I'm concerned about. In my simple definition, culture is what your Mom and Dad teach you at the dinner table. And, hopefully, they're instilling traits that include working hard, paying your bills, and learning how to participate in a civil society. There's a certain collection of people who apparently don't get this, and these days the Federal government seems to be doing nothing but encouraging them in their existing ways. That's going the wrong direction, IMO. We are all engines of karma
  21. The Federal department of HUD (Housing and Urban development) has been on a crusade to place more section 8 participants in "rich white people neighborhoods". Housing Secretary Julian Castro is going to double Section 8 allowances so Section 8 participants can live in these neighborhoods. Landlords will not be able to deny them, even if they have criminal records. Prior experiments in this has shown dramatic increases in violence (e.g. Dallas suburbs Frisco, Plano and McKinney) These neighborhoods have suffered unprecedented spikes in rapes, assaults and break-ins, including home invasions. HUD's own internal analysis has shown that Section 8 recipients did not get better jobs or get off welfare. In fact, more went on food stamps. And their children did not do better in their new schools. This is the epitome of tyranny, IMO. Obama’s last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy We are all engines of karma
  22. I grew up in Louisiana. The WWII vets down there fought in the Pacific campaign. They were thrilled when we ended the war with Japan. If there was to be an invasion of the Japanese homelands, there were convinced they would be killed. We are all engines of karma
