  1. I've made it my current wallpaper, also. We are all engines of karma
  2. Excellent question. Who gets to decide the President is the enemy of the Constitution? Editted - I've read the other responses to this thread now. Sounds like the judicial branch makes this call. We are all engines of karma
  3. When I lived in Edinburgh in the late 1980s, it was over $2 USD to 1 GBP. Ouch. We are all engines of karma
  4. Sticks aren't very fun in traffic jams on NYC's Westside highway (...or FDR for that matter). We are all engines of karma

  8. Freedom of speech already has its limits. Just look at what the guy is going through. We are all engines of karma
  9. This thread is really starting to piss me off. When's the last time a Baptist church was allowed to open in Saudi Arabia? How about a Methodist church? Catholic? How about Shiite? Which religion is preaching, AND FUNDING, more hatred than any other on this planet? My understanding is it's a Saudi based religion. We're in a fucking culture clash, and as a rule the US can't see that because we think the world is full of rational people. Hey folks! The mongrel horde is here! We are all engines of karma
  10. If you still have the references, why don't you share it with us? We are all engines of karma
  11. Absolutely not. But, ALL Muslims should respect the sensitivity of these situation. We shouldn't have to be the only ones expected to be sensitive to others feelings. We are all engines of karma
  12. That's an excellent question, Bill. Nervous little old Catholic ladies have never caused the deaths of 1000s of innocent people. Likewise, when their ilk did so, it was dealt with from within. We are all engines of karma
  13. Good question. I've viewed God as a verb for many years now, as opposed to a noun. The discussions that happen here invariably view God as a noun, and IMO that's where the problems start. I actually tried to put my view to paper (...it wasn't easy). Here's the URL. If you have any feedback on it, I'd appreciate it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2412384;search_string=1st%20Law%20Of%20Thermo;#2412384 We are all engines of karma
  14. LOL!!! BTW - never pick up a snake unless the ether is still working We are all engines of karma
  15. In practical terms, I say fuck 'em. Let them get over it. We have to be senstitive to their feelings, but they can't be sensitive to other peoples feelings that are based upon experience (...hey, you're really making me feel uncomfortable due to 9/11)? We ALL have to give a little bit to get along. They deliberately chose not to. They could have said their prayers with their eyes closed. We are all engines of karma
  16. Take a second job, without a doubt. You and I were involved in this chat in the other thread. Most of my questions in that thread were rhetorical. I was pushing the limits of the discussion, to see what kind of responses came back. The boundaries I was pushing involved the lifestyle our society, the US, provides to us. 17. And, indeed, their belief system will be damaged, if not destroyed. That's a very frightening thing. I was 21 when I shucked my fundamentalist Christian beliefs. It was a very difficult time in my life. We are all engines of karma
  18. Ah pajarito, it's taken a while, but I see your point now. I think billvon's point here is that this process happens ALOT. So, it's the sum of all of these processes that brings us to where we are. We are all engines of karma
  19. No, speed limits still apply. Plus, the UK makes liberal use of those machines that take pictures of speeders. We are all engines of karma
  20. I don't disagree with you. That's what I've done, also (and continue to do, as needed). It was more of a rhetorical question, pushing the thesis that capitalism may not be a long term stable system. Let me repeat myself, I don't know of a better system, but I'm not at all convinced capitalism is a long term stable system as practiced today. We are all engines of karma
  21. No. I only need sammiches twice a day. We are all engines of karma
