So like many other stories, this starts with bad weather and a bunch or skydivers looking for something to do. The boogie organizer announces that the skyvan will do high-speed passes. The pilot announces he’s trying to reach 6,000 feet but they only reach 2000. So the groups start to leave the plane and as we watch from the ground, we see main canopies opening. Off course, because everyone is so low, the next thing that happens is that AAD start to fire. First 2, the 2 more and the 1 last one. So, some people chop their main, one had an entanglement with the main and one rode a downplane all the way to the ground. So at the end, we had 5 AAD fires and 2 injured skydivers. So the moral of the story is: just say no to low altitude, high-speed skyvan loads with ADD equipped rigs! What do you think? Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Master Kanobi: Thanks for the LO at the convention. It sure made the day of the young padawan in the Puerto Rico Mafia. Looking forward to going back to the WFFC and getting on your loads.

Humm, I don't see lineovers or entanglements with airplane parts as options in the poll. I guess I have to classify my 9 cutaways under others. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Yeap. Saw the 3 from Amazon.com and one from ebay ended being a fraud. There is a couple of suppliers but they price it at $1000 and higher when it was on $790 just in march. I'll keep searching and hopefully will find something. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Thanks for the search, but that is an HC-1000. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

My 3 month old Sony PC-1000 was recently stolen and I'm looking for a replacement. I purchased it from B&H but it is no longer available on their web site. I'm searching the web looking for one. I like to purchase the same model to re-use the Dbox. Any suggestions? Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Who investigates stolen items from checked-in bags?
Orlando replied to Orlando's topic in The Bonfire
I'll get another alti at the store in Perris and see about a camera when I get home. I hope that B&H still have some PC-1000 in stock. Along with the camera they also took the wide angle lens. That is another thing to replace. The sad part is that the credit card company will only cover $250.00 for the camcorder. That could probably cover 1/3 of the price. This is the second time I regret not taking an insurance option. The first was the cell phone that I trashed while retrieving a cutway main and now the home owners insurance option for the electronic equipment. I can already hear the insurance agent telling me "I told you so...". Oh well, I'm stilling jumping this weekend. All I need now is to funnel the formation, go low, have two canopies out, cutway, loose the main ...... Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers -
Who investigates stolen items from checked-in bags?

I called the airport management and the sent me to the local sheriff office. I'm my way back to the airport to file a claim. I guess it could help with issurance claims and such. I guess what I really wanted is like in a law and order episode, that they catch the bad guy before the first half of the show. -
Who investigates stolen items from checked-in bags?
Orlando replied to Orlando's topic in The Bonfire
Since 9-11 I'm have not put a lock on the checked-in bags. Mostly, because the TSA people will ask you if the locks are removed. I saw in the TSA web site that there is some kind of locks they approve for the bags. I'll look into that for future trips. Still, if it means a lock that someone other that me can open the locks, I think I'll stick with a regular lock and let the TSA people break it if the need to. Either way, I definitely we'll need to rethink my travel bag arrangements. PS. I used to think that people traveling with a lot of carry-on stuff were dumb. Now I realize they new better. Who investigates stolen items from checked-in bags?
Orlando replied to Orlando's topic in The Bonfire
I'm on a business trip to California and brought the skydiving toys to make a quick stop at Perris. Opened the suitcase and noticed that everything is out of place. Upon closer inspection my video bag is opened and the camera and all cables are missing. So I look around in the bag (Yea right, like is that big to get lost). I am hoping that the items shifted during the flight. Finally I give up searching the suitcase and realized that someone took the camera out. They also took my two Neptune, which are on a separate bag inside the suitcase. Oddly enough, the camera helmet and my suit survived. It seems the only interest was electronic items. Not the way I wanted to start the trip, but nothing I can do to make it re-appear. I started calling the travel agency, the Airline, the credit card company and everyone to ask what remedies there is for this kind of thing. The travel agency says, report it to the Airline. The Airline (Continental) says that electronics are not covered in checked in bags. That, I was supposed to take that bag as carry-on. Yea right, I already have one carry-on (The parachute) and a computer bag. I'm sure that if I take a 3rd bag they would be very happy to check one. The credit card company (American Express) says that camcorders are insured up to $250.00. I guess that camcorders are cheap these days, but Sony PC-1000 are not that cheap I asked all three companies who should I report a stolen item, and two of them came back with I don’t know. The credit card company suggested calling the local police. So who investigate theft during flights? There has to be a law enforcement agency one can report this events. Any suggestions? Well, I'm back from the WFFC and it even with the storms it was lots of fun. Only managed to do 39 jumps, including 2 jets, 1 Balloon, 1 Bi-plane with DVD and a bunch of RW. Michael, thanks for keeping us informed of all aspects of the convention. Specially, the blow by blow of the Jet.

100 U$ Bob Just for the convention, they are on special for $99.00 US. PS. Disclaimer, I'm not affiliated with the WFFC! Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Yeap, we definitely need help on that department. Those two in bottom of the picture are the end of a 10 way speedstar and the one closer to the jet is the first from the next group (or maybe solo?). Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

No high speed passes. They briefer mentioned something around 140-160 (kt or mph) Not sure. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

You can hold down the ALT key and type the character number on the keypad on the right side of the keyboard. This is easier on a fullsize keyboard, but also works with laptops. Some codes: ALT-164 = ñ ALT-165 = Ñ ALT-160 = á ALT-130 = é ALT-161 = í ALT-162 = ó ALT-163 = ú ALT-168 = ¿ ALT-173 = ¡ Once you get use to it, you can type this pretty fast and don't have to change the settings of the PC. PS. I don't think my review would add value to you paper. Sorry. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

I really hate to think is dying off. I rather think that, like everything else, it is adjusting to the times. I have to agree with Gary that lately I have come to see Boogies as opportunities to jump with friends, rather than opportunities to jump new planes. Still, there is plenty of opportunity to jump different planes at the WFFC. I have been going to the WFFC for the last 5 years and because of lower numbers I was debating if I would return this year. Then I realize that I never returned to the WFFC because of the jumper numbers, but because of the jumpers there. Every year you get to see the same good people and meet some new ones. And that, is why I'm going back to the WFFC again in 2006. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Me think is the other way around. You can get a CTA train from Ohare to Chicago Central Station. Check http://www.transitchicago.com/ for options. Once you reach the closest stop to Central Station, you will have to walk two blocks. Once at Central Station you can get an Amtrak train to Rantoul. Have been waiting for PD to put out bigger size Katanas like 135 and 150. Read in their newsletter last year that they did some limited demo of those sizes at the WFFC. Anyone have heard anything more recent? Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

I don't this that could be the US. Not with that license plate, speed in KPH and policemen jumping from cars. Saludos, Orlando Hispa #48 || www.amador.org || Xtreme Divers

Thanks for posting the pictures. The pictures definitely help to show the spirit of the boogie. Have fun skydiving all day and have fun partying all night. Once again thanks. You sure took the time to document the event.
