Hey jt. Where you gonna be in TX? ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie Addict #2
  2. Chronicles III is great but way too short for the $35 price tag. Good Stuff is cheaper and longer. How long is Crosswind? ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Congrats P&M! Now it's a moral imperative for you to come visit us! BTW. You want hot? Try cramming 20-odd people into an Otter in 90+ heat with 90+ humidity. DOOR! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

  5. See that's my problem. I got spoiled on Grand Cayman. Diving quarries with some sunked speedboats and cars just doesn't seem as fun. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    OSC Jumpers

Yepper! They have trailer hookups, a campground (and swimming/swoop pond) and lofts. Showers. It's a nice facility. If y'all can't make it this weekend, definitely try to make it down sometime this summer. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    OSC Jumpers

I was gonna suggest to OSC jumpers to make a road trip down to Spaceland in Houston to join us (and Brit!) for our CASA boogie. However, the way the weather's been, we'll prolly be jumping in a swamp. Eh, well. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    BORING!!!

Jeez. Please don't tell me we're going to need to start assigning ALF numbers here as well. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    Airline Update

I've got an Oracle conference I'm gonna be attending next Mon-Wed. Looks like Monday would be the only day I could do it, since y'all are closed on Tues/Wed. Depends on when the Monday session breaks. I might skip out a tad early and head up for a jump or two. Indy I'll definitely be jumping. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

    Airline Update

Since I'm gonna be travelling a bit over the next few weeks I decided to get the first-hand scoop on their policies Re: rigs on the plane. Continental had it right on their website. "Continental accepts sport parachutes and parasails in lieu of one piece of free baggage. A parachute or parasail taken onboard the aircraft must meet carry-on size restrictions for placement underneath an aircraft seat. When checked as baggage, all excess, oversize and overweight charges will apply." Southwest had no such mention on it's website so I called 'em up. The lady on the other end seemed flummoxed, especially when I mentioned the AAD. She called around and confirmed that as long as it fits under the seat or in a storage bin it was OK (as was the AAD). So my rig is going to Indy over July 4 and maybe to Dallas next week. Woohoo! ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

Heh, beat me to it on the Zeppelin thing. Actually it's not on a cover but the logo for the Swan Song label. Here's a poster. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  13. Heh. Dives like a mofo when you let 'em up eh? ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  14. ***What type of canopy is it? What is your wing loading?[\quote] Sabre 150 loaded at 1.23 ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  15. I prolly should have my rigger check the trim, but I'm wondering if this is a bad thing or if it's something not too serious. Now maybe I'm not flaring it fast enough, but I can't get my canopy to stall. I can bury my toggles and it still glides along just fine. As far as landing flares go, never had a problem. On a "regular" wind day I get the brakes down to about shoulder-level to stop the downward movement & then milk out the rest for a little surf. On no-wind days I usually have to run 'em out quite a bit. Thoughts? ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  16. Statistically SCUBA (is it all caps or not? I do it 'cuz it's an acronym) is more dangerous in terms of fatalities per 100,000 participants. It's weird. People think I have some sort of death wish doing "dangerous" sports. No. I like to have fun. Now it just so happens that my fun activities have an element of risk involved, but what fun things don't? As far as decision time goes. Yeah, you have more time to plan a course of action, but I've seen people panic scuba (let's try lower-case) diving and you can kill yourself every bit as fast if you panic (or lose depth awareness). A friend was telling me had knew someobody who ran the hyperbaric chamber in Galveston and quit scuba diving because she saw a bnch of people who supposedly did everything right but still got seriously bent. I have a lot of trouble with this. My guess is they screwed up (prolly lost depth/time awareness -- sound familiar?) and eiother didn't admit it or didn't even know it. Skydiving and scuba diving are relatvely safe if you use/keep your head. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie

  20. So here I'm sitting in front of my 'puter looking out the window as it rains cats & dogs by Texas standards. Hmmmm..... there's a lake forming in my back yard. As long as it clears up for Saturday's CASA boogie at Spaceland I'm cool with it. Wonder if anyone's delivering.... ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  21. Man, skydiving & the Great Barrier Reef. Don't get much better than that. I've heard the Honduras kicks butt. Especially Roatan. Not touristy and great reefs. People are supposed to be really nice. Roatan, Truk and the Keys are on my "must dive" list. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  22. It's Ohhhh-K FFF. Everything will be allll-right. Here's your medicine... ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  23. Ah. We on the same page now. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  24. Well I'm even more impressed. A stall at 300 feet and he got it down with no fatalities? I don't know how you define "safely", but under those circumstances there isn't a whole lot of room for improvement. FWIW. Every post that I've read from folks who has first-hand knowledge of the incident said the pilot performed a semi-miracle. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
  25. Our DZ pilot is great (also the DZO). But I'll tell you what, the Skydive Texas pilot who managed to get his plane (and cargo ) down safely after a stall at ~800 ft. should get some sort of medal or something. ------------ Blue Skies! Zennie
