yep.... Snow that turned to a fine layer of ice. At least all over north Raleigh. Everywhere there was a hill people were in the ditch. Hwy 1 was a madhouse, my neighbor left Franklinton at 1pm and hadn't made it to Durant Rd. in North Raleigh by 8pm i'm sure it's all over the news stations but with no tv I can't really check nor do I want to. cya, Jason Base 570

I have found a new Sony pc330 for $860.00 and was just wondering what everyone else paid and if this is a good deal or not. From the other research I have done it seems to be a good price.

Is this the right way to use clamps? 515 sent me this picture a while ago and I just wanted to make sure he was using them correctly. Happy 500th jump bro, wish I had been there. Uninjured so far speaks volumes... although you only jump that easy shit Jason 570

What's a good telephoto lens for the Canon 20D? Won't be used for skydiving. Will be used for other shots including ground shots for BASE. Want that up close and personal look from long distances. How about a good macro or wide angle lens suggestion too. Thanks Jason 570

Does the bullet cam have the same quality as the normal camera set up? What type of lens is on it? Are others available? Thanks, Jason 570

Does anyone know if Go Fast had insurance at their event in CO? It would seem like it would be required by the R.Gorge people don't ya think? OK say the insurance part can be worked out, so how would you go about convincing the object owner to allow an event to take place? What benefits, other than monetary, can the object owner be enticed with? Or does it all come back to money? Thanks Jason 570

What are some of the hurdles we need to overcome to host a legal BASE event in the US? How do we overcome these obstacles? How are events like the Royal Gorge able to be conducted??? What kind of permissions, insurance or permits are needed? Are there special considerations needed for objects like buildings or antennas? Thanks Jason 570

I have opened(not thrown out) below 200ft from terminal on many occasions. I think the shortest canopy ride I have had from terminal was around 5-6 seconds. Once you start to do these jumps with frequency you are (or think you are) able to dial in your openings to within 20-30ft and I found myself pushing it more to the edge and pulling lower and lower as I did more of these. Then there came a point when I realized that these jumps relied on a perfect case scenario where everything goes correctly and I know that many times things can happen; a PC hesi or a half second bobble will kill you very easily, so I raised my opening alt's. Now, I'm under canopy by 200-300 ft on most terminal jumps, although I might drift back into the zone and hum it down on occasion as well Happy New Year! Jason 570

Yardage pro 800 is the only way to go. It is the only one with the backlit display which is invaluable on night jumps. I bought mine in 2000 and have no problems. I guess by now they might have others that have the backlit display but make sure you get it! 570

I've heard of ton of these stories about people getting a talking to, a simple ticket, or just a "Hey man, that was cool!". Later that night they find themselves sleeping in their own beds. With my luck, I'd end up spending approx. 16 hours in jail until I was bailed out. Do most of these "let go" stories originate from when the cop actually sees the jump and confronts the jumper (no one called in a complaint)? Or do people have these stories even when someone called 911 and the air unit shows up with their 10 gazillion watt spotlight? Has anyone experienced a ton of commotion caused by a complaint and then been let go? Lou on my bust in Mexico, they cleared out a whole hotel and brought in bomb sniffing dogs... or thats what they told me at the time. It was about a month or two after 9/11 so people were a little 'jumpy'. I'm pretty sure it was called in by a hotel guest who believed I was a terrorist. I was detained for a few hours and then released to just make my flight back to the states. I was let go with the help of the american consulate who explained to them that there were no 'no tresspassing' signs and I didn't do any damage to any doors, locks, railings or the roof. And I didn't look like a terrorist which, as stated previously, might have helped. Also, they kept asking me if I had a license to jump. I thought about it and then pulled out my USPA card which quieted that question! I was going to send the story to USPA but somehow I didn't think they would've appreciated it! THANKS USPA FOR GETTING ME OUT OF BASE JAIL!! Jason 570
