  1. Will do....should be last week of Septmember/first week of October (I believe the last week they are open for the year). Tim
  2. LOL! Guess the beer intake will be on the up and up for a wee bit
  3. Hi Mark...Congrats to you as well!
  4. Did my first two solos today too!!!! *** Congrats to you as well! Filled a cooler (well, a fridge actually) myself this weekend
  5. Cool. the fun only gets better....love it!
  6. This was the first time I actually looked straight down as well...pretty cool.
  7. Thanks, PJ....think I may just bring me a cot and sleeping bag next time!
  8. Definitely a feeling that can't be matched or compared to anything....thanks, Shall!
  9. LOL! I was definitely able to relax a lot more, but the AFF instructor being there was also kind of a safety net that I didn't mind having around...just in case. Nice to know I can actually do it on my own! Thanks! Tim
  10. After a deep breath and a Hail Mary....or something of the sort, I took my first solo leap. Once out and stabilized, I did a couple 360s and it hit me: There was noone else around. Absolutely fantastic! Almost an out of body experience. Wow! Nice and simple for my first and a landing where I actually stood up for once Tim
  11. Hi Eule, Not a bad idea;-) However, I am considering writing a non-ficiton piece on the experience of zero jumps to getting my A license. I've been taking notes just in case...
  12. Thanks, PJ. I never thought of that. Packing would be a great way to keep him involved. The other day he loved just going pick up the tandems and was even asking how he could help around the DZ....the only time I think I ever seen him WANT to pick up
  13. Congrats, Eule! Just finished my AFP this weekend. Can't wait for my first legitimate "solo" on Sunday.....and the cooler I will fill with beer:-) Tim
  14. Thanks, man.....yeah, I've grown to love it rather quickly. My wife even made a ton of food for everyone while we waited. She got me a new altimeter (which kind of got scratched up a bit during one landing) for an early father's day gift and my son is raring to jump at the whopping age of 12. Sounds like it might turn into a family affair. Peace, Tim
  15. Holy poop on a stick! Saturday: fogged in here, requiring a 2 hour drive to another airport. Made 3 jumps but only passed 2 levels. 2 hour drive back at nightfall had me home at 10pm. Sunday: right back a the DZ for 9am fog delay. Eventually got 3 jumps in and the graduation dive of my AFP program! Learned so much with consecutive jumps....probably more how NOT to do things, but I'll continue to learn:-) Seemed like every other landing was horrible. Note to self...I'll probably want to bring the following items on my next day at the DZ (dry clothes, gloves...one of those protective Sumo outfits kids use at carnivals...and maybe even a map and a compass Glad to reach and complete Level 7 Exhausted.... Tim
  16. Thanks for the input, Mark. Definitely helpful.
  17. Thanks for the info, Lisa....definitely helpful!
  18. Thanks for the welcome! Can't wait to get my level 3 done (possibly 4) this weekend. Tim
  19. To avoid downsizing in the near future and wanting to get comfortable as soon as possible with my own equipment, how soon should I start looking and what size is an average recommended size for a beginner?
  20. I'm active duty military stationed in California, but orignially from Auburn, Maine...about 45 minuted North of Skydive New England. Plan on taking accompanying my father and brother on their first tandems there in the near future.
  21. Thanks for the welcome! Almost did get hurt playing air hockey when a flying puck came screaming at my head
  22. Just got into the sport a few weeks ago. Currently accomplishing my AFF through my home DZ at Santa Barbara. June is a bad month for fog here on the coast, so I'm learning to be very patient. I look forward to meeting you all.... Tim
