Chris, Julie... You guys are awesome! Last year was so well enjoyed, and yet you guys improved it so much this year. No paid advertisement and yet the place was PACKED! That says something about your events! You should be proud. Job VERY WELL DONE! The Carbones kept this fat kid stuck in a little kid's body happy as hell with plenty of tasty grub, the manifest girls were easy to work with and easy on the eyes too. Always smiling. The weather caused a bit of a hiccup on Wednesday and a bit of a coma on Sunday, but Friday and Saturday couldn't have been any better. There was never a shortage of volunteers to help clean up, pick up off jumpers, make a quick run for this or that, be a chaser for the balloon loads, etc.

SkyFest June 15th -21st Celebrating 10 years!

Hopefully, more than just the LO's remember what the event is really about. I can't wait until June. It's going to be great this year! Hopefully we can set a new record for SCR recipients. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie. -
Limited turns in the main landing area, Designated HP Landing area. I hope to have overheads posted soon. If not they will be at the boogie. Ganeral note, not aimed at anyone...well,except the morons that try to hurt themselves. On this topic, Last year there were a couple people that seemed like they were trying to hurt themselves the entire weekend. With the turnout we are expecting my fuse will be very short for dumb asses that have no business swooping or being in the swoop area, or ANY HP landings in the main landing area. DO NOT TEST ME ON THIS!!! I wasn't trying to hurt myself... the pop up was mean-muggin' me. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

Well now that takes "lube jobs" to new lows... there could be worse things that a butt flap could be filled with... I'm ok with oil. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie. -

Provided the military doesn't have me otherwise engaged and I'm able to come... COUNT ME IN! Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie. -

This will be my third Skyfest. Of course I will be there, especially since it is very close to home. Not to bring up a bad subject, but are you sure you will have a Casa this year? Last year you charged a very hefty registration fee and both the Casa and the Pitts were no-shows. Also, I hope you do not handle manifest like you did last year. That got bad reviews from just about everyone. Marion, I hope you, and others, understand that the CASA appearance AND the manifesting were all under the control of the dropzone and that SkyFest had no input into any of that. Why the DZ didn't bring in the CASA as committed and advertised is something else...the "official" excuse was mechanical problems. You may want to direct those questions to the DZ management. Good luck. The Pitts bailed on SkyFest after committing. The cancellation was discovered and posted about 3 weeks before the event. Forget the Casa... I like the idea of a DC-3!!! Just seeing who can fix up a drink order the fastest and flashiest... think "Cocktail" the movie. But I like your way of thinking. Cant we just get them to do all of the above? I concur. I don't get reception there, but I honestly don't mind it. Most of the time, my phone calls are work related and rarely of immediate importance. I like not having to worry about it. If I feel the dire need to check my messages, I can usually find some kind soul that will let me borrow their phone for a moment to take down any messages that might exist onto paper. Then I'll go use a payphone if it requires immediate response. I didn't have to do that at all last year, and I'm hoping the same will stay true this year. Either way, I'm not too worried about it. I'm more focused on getting good video, getting good jumps, having lots of fun, having a few beers and maybe some psycho punch if bob makes it out, and avoiding the pop up tents if I can. That's pretty much it. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

As for PCH, Laguna Beach traffic is pretty crazy also. For Ortega, I haven't driven it in a few months, but I'm very familiar with that road... too familiar to be honest. I rolled my truck on that road back in 2005, and I'm amazed I'm still here to write this. I rolled it because I was younger and dumber, haulin' ass to get to a buddy's party around midnight. Where I wrecked, there was about a 150 ft. shear dropoff. Somehow, I managed to stay on the road. I still drive it most times I head out to Elsinore, but now I take it a little more easy. The drive is great. Very pretty. There's a couple lookout points and if you go at the right time, it's absolutely gorgeous. There's also a couple good stops up there. Hells kitchen is a biker bar that has some really good eats. There's a jerky place up there I've been wanting to stop at for a long time, and for some reason, I always kept driving saying I'd do it the next time. One of these days I'll hit it up. As long as you don't drive like you'll win the lottery if you break the record time, you'll be glad you made the trip. Take your time and enjoy it. When you get a group of cars behind you wanting to go faster (if you do) slide out into a turnout and let 'em pass. Then you won't be losing your enjoyment by worryin' about that asshole that rides 8 inches from your back bumper. Hope this was helpful. Have fun with it.

Never had my mug in there as far as I know... I did get my SkyFest article printed in the October 2007 issue, though. First thing I've ever had printed. Only thing so far, but I haven't really submitted anything since then either. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse.
