  1. Our country has not been at war since 9/11. It goes much farther back than that, to the USS Cole, the Embassy bombings, the first WTC attack in 1993, etc. The only difference is that now we are doing something about it. Instead of sitting back and hoping something doesn't happen again, we're taking the fight to them. Stopping those efforts now is the worst thing we can do. We have the single greatest armed force the world has ever seen, and we will prevail.
  2. Airwalks. I always thought it was cool looking at one of my jump videos and seeing "AIRWALK" across the bottom of my foot.
  3. My comment was sarcasm as well. Your statement was neither logically argued nor strongly backed up.
  4. You don't think the people that willfully join the military (we have an all-volunteer service) know that by doing so, they could be risking their own lives? What exactly do you think the military does? And how could you possibly think that you have any idea WHATSOEVER what 99 percent of the people in this country want? Living in Germany certainly doesn't qualify.
  5. Concerning recent events of this week: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04102/298803.stm
  6. Well, I'm sold. Your well-researched, logically argued and strongly backed-up arguments are good enough for me. Oh, er, wait a sec...
  7. Yeah, right on. Watch out especially for Henry County, GA. It's probably 30 miles or so south of ATL. I recently drove from ATL to Dublin, GA (ROAMINGDZ BOOGIE!!!), and 3 of the 4 speed traps I saw were in Henry County. There was no need for the radio - the radar detector was providing more than enough musical entertainment.
  8. yeah, second that. I learned to jump and jumped for over two years at Skydive Atlanta, but then I moved back up to the DC area. I jump around here a lot, but I still consider good ol' OPN to be my home.
  9. Did that last weekend. Went out clubbing in DC until 5am, and then woke up at 7 to head to the DZ. Good day of skydiving, too, but I was so tired I almost couldn't walk into my own apartment.
  10. Hooked it too low, downwind, right in front of my girlfriend at the time. Got up and walked away, but was bleeding all over both legs. Damn lucky I didn't kill myself. We were on our way to Savannah, GA for the weekend and my fraternity's formal, so instead of having a kickass time, I ended up hobbling around all weekend, covered in gauze and tape.
  11. I'd love to get my hands on an Xf2 149...
  12. I like it. Should make a good away message.
  13. I've got the bubbly ready, with a rousing rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
  14. ....because anytime anyone who is a member of a protected class is killed, they were OBVIOUSLY killed because of their membership in that class, and as such the killers must be even more severly punished....

yeah, I heard this was good. They are supposedly going to be one of the largest players in the VOIP space. I'll be interested to see how the regular phone companies respond.
  16. I wonder if the 1,000,000th post will be in the "1,000,000th post" thread...
  17. Finished up at the Georgia Institute of Technology last May, with a BS in Management, focused in IT. Went in as a Computer Science major, but that got old real fast. Decided to give some Management courses a try right around the same time I started skydiving. Spending time skydiving and running the Skydiving Club turned out to be a crap ton more fun than spending time doing schoolwork, so I stuck with the (significantly less time-consuming) management classes. Now part of my job involves telling CS people what to do, so I think I made the right choice.
  18. A fantastic time is what I had also. I think we were a hit with the locals, too. It's pretty cool landing in front of 100 spectators. I'm already making plans for next year.... Matt -----
  19. This is on my list of things to do before I die. It hasn't been done in a while, owing to Tech's close proximity to ATL and the fallout from 9/11. One of these days, though, Buzz will fly again. Matt (MGT '03)
  20. altitude: 13,500 aircraft: Caravan maneuver: 15-way tracking dive (someone's 100th jump) description: dove out from mid-pack, dove/tracked to leader, played around Got a really sweet video of myself swooping the cameraman at sunset... Matt -----
  21. I'd pack the canopy up and throw my rig over my shoulder. Then, I'd simply walk to the nearest college campus and ask for a phone... Matt -----
