  1. Weight and balance, and seat belt attach points (each attach point is rated to 250 -200 lbs depending on model) the aircraft can carry 6 jumper and a pilot. Maybe even 7 little Jumpers and a pilot. Cookie only weighed 95lbs. The POH states " Pilot and 5 Jumpers" That statement may be interpreted as a limitation by that regulating body. Wing mods, bigger engine, Prop and the climb performance can match a light 182. www.aerialtransport.com
  2. Cal City Otter soon to be on the History Channels "The Works" episode 9. Just got a call from the Discovery Channel 30 minutes ago so maybe more on your Plasma TV. Thanks Gary.
  3. Smaller market: Vertical Speed Indicator with needle pointing to 1200 fpm climb ( The one on the pilots instrument panel that says how fast you are climbing) "Good jump pilots know how to keep it up"
  4. Im sure the aircraft seat belt attach point would fail first. I think the main lift web would not fail that easy. The sled test didnt show any ejections of the dummys out of the harnesses or major harness failures at the required 6 Gs.
  5. These TSOed restraints are only certified to 6Gs. Most Cessna seat belt attach points are also just 6 Gs. If you take a close look it is only a little aluminum track or thin skins riveted together holding you in place. 203E was crushed to Station 111. Not a soft crash. Ill bet much greater than 6 Gs.
  6. http://www.faa.gov/library/reports/medical/oamtechreports/1990s/media/9811.pdf Better than submarining out of a lap belt while sitting on the floor of an airplane. Please make sure you are using TSOed Hooker Harness Tag Line belts ( Im not their salesman ) I have seen DZ made belts that look like tag lines but in an accident they would tighten down on your harness and you couldnt get them off durring the resulting fire. Please place them through your main lift web instead of your leg strap. Your head will travel shorter distances in the crash, it is harder to forget to remove and make it half way out of a Cessna U206 still wearing it. A couple of people know what I am talking about. Spell check locks up my browzer.
  7. Did I miss it? How come the web site doesnt mention the parachute in the equiptment tab? Balloon, Check. Gondola, Check. Pressure suit, Check. Ok Lets Go!!!
  8. Steel tube structure with the covering fabric or aluminum. Replacing the covering with lexan is no big deal. Otter has fuel tanks in the belly, Cessnas have cables in the belly and oil on the belly. Fun to think of. Just step out.
  9. [Cute yellow Quaisar in the back of the hangar... lets see... if its the one I'm thinking it is... I'd sure hate to take it for a skydive, toss out going through 2K and find-out it still has a N.O.V.A. packed inside it... ] I now have a new FX94 in the "Gold" Quasar. That Old (DOM 92) Nova sure did turn fast and I could toss it at 2K for fast, smooth, on heading openings. Turned faster than the new FX94. The 94 does have a much better flare. Still dont know if you would want to jump it.
  10. Drive??? There are other airplanes in the world besides 1PM and 173.. Ill come pick you up at the airport myself. jr
  11. Emiko could fly the Otter for your Womens 20 way state record. How much extra alt could they get if I was flying 20 women?
  12. Im glad that last photo (hanger, plane) came out. Thanks.
  13. Quote Antoinette says you have the Otter booked thru fall? Do you have a schedule of where she'll be Emiko and I will be at Peperell Mass all summer. Thanks to Brian and all at FreeFall Express in Mt Vernon Mo for letting me fly there last weekend. Gongrats girls for the record.
  14. New paint? I dont have that kind of money. Im trying to figure out how to paint my tool truck and old white 206 to match 1PM. I like the that Pilgrim paint scheme. Jr.
  15. Thanks for the correction on the fuel. 40 gals is more than enough for 3 loads of 6 to 13k and VFR reserves.
  16. Because of the increase purchase cost of the 206 vs the 182 you need the 2 extra seats for the plane to get close to making its own money. At 5 seats you have to get some of the tandem money.
  17. Also check the price of the H model. I dont think to many of them flying skydivers.
  18. As per the POH each seat belt attach point in the aircraft is rated at 250lbs for the C models. Just have enough Hooker Harness Tag line belts. The stock airplane has a 3600lb gross weight, and my stripped planes weigh under 1900lbs. = 1700lbs. useful load. Pilot 180, 6 jumpers at 220, = 1500lbs and 40 gals of fuel only weights 120lbs. Under gross and with the large horizontal tail of the C models the CG stays in full and empty.
  19. 6 jumper seats is the happy medium. When selling tandems skydiving operators want to say this. Yes we can take both of you in the plane at the same time, Yes we go all the way to 13K and you get 1 minute of free fall time, Yes if you both want video you can jump at the same time. No way around it tandems keep most dzs running. some do handy cam so a 182 will do.
  20. Thanks to Antoinette for your post picture.
  21. I wanted the diesel for the increased hp, faster climb times, increased time between overhaul, cheaper and lower fuel burn per head, and single lever operation that a low time pilot couldnt screw up. I wanted to turn the plane in 20 minutes to 13K agl so I could get an exp load in between tandem loads. Tired and slow tandem masters take up to 15 minutes to get back in the plane. The 550 with all the mods is doing 6 jumpers to 13K and back in 30 minutes. Too long for the DZO and tandems to wait.
  22. Talked to the US Thielert rep and he says that the installed weight increase for the 4.0 Diesel in the naturally aspirated 206 is 200 lbs. That would limit a 206 to 5 jumpers and pilot to stay under gross. I havent even tried to calculate the empty weight cg after the jumpers leave. The installed cost vs the gross sales per hour could still work but it is disappointing
  23. At some small airports today the only real flying is skydiving. The old timers sitting around talking about flying are happy to see something other than a student landing half way down the field.
