Absolutely not, when i was taught i was taught what the mals were and how to correct them, i was not given statistics on how many people died doing whatever as it is pointless information for a student to have. All they need to know is how to corect a problem. Your other post about the OP having formed his own opinion on the safety level already really was my point. Im sorry if i sounded offensive, it was not directed at you. I will have a look at your articles today, thank you. As others have said, the statistics just dont add when there are so many variables to consider. If anyone ever asks me how dangerous skydiving is i simply reply to the effect of "As soon as you go outside your comfort level or what you know then you greatly increasing your chances of injury or worse." 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Just to expand on what i said. There are some things you will never know as far as the statistics go. If 1 million jumps are made how many of those 1 milion where made by a small group of people who do this for a living? Where they on the fatality list or was it someone with 100 jumps who was uncurrent and had 5 years in the sport? I am yet to see convincing statistics that take everything into account, we all take differant levels of risk and there are differant factors all the time. Statistics get on my tits. They can say anything you want them to say. "x amount of jumps were made in 2006 with x fatalities." Says nothing. I left my audiable back in England by pure bloody mistake, this weekend a tandem instructors neptune died on the way up and he asked to borrow my alti. I dont jump AAD (money issues rather than choice) and was freeflying, so told my partner to give me a nice clear wave off at 5.5. Very strange feeling, i still checked my alti twice even though it wasnt there. Saw the wave off, bellied out and tracked. Was open what looked like bang on cue.
