  1. Exactly my point. Indicating that if guns weren't as easy to obtain, people would not just use other objects. Ease of use certainly comes into play. Specially when it comes to more "spur of the moment" incidents.
  2. This argument flies in the face of an argument mentioned earlier, that if guns weren't available other objects would be used. An example given was bombs. If a kid knew that there were lots of guns around, he could just use a bomb and blow up a fair chunk of the school. I don't believe in that theory though, in eitehr scenario. I think people will use what is readily available, specially when they "snap". As such, I do think that a higher incidence of school shootings is a price the US has to pay for the right to bear arms.
  3. So really the only discussion then is where that line is. Makes you pretty similar to those who want to kill out of revenge, say those who believe in Jihad.
  4. Pretty much on the same level as those countries who allow execution of minors.
  5. I recently received an email saying that I had won the internet lottery and that if I supply them with all my personal information they have a cheque in the amount of $1,000,000,000 waiting for me.....think I should reply?
  6. Actually the Canadian Dollar is now worth slightly more than the US dollar.....loving it. CADUSD=X 1 Oct 5 1.0186 1.0186 1.0186 1.0190
  7. no, I think what he is suggesting is that they do take a direct part in the hostilities.
  8. Nothing like heavily beating yourself on the chest when there is a little headway in a gigantic clusterfuck of your own creation. Only slightly less than 900 civilions were killed in Iraq last month. I am indeed surprised why we are not giving a standing ovation to that number of innocent deaths.
  9. Clinton didn't create a perpetual war for them.
  10. I remember when calling them mercenaries would get you lambasted on these boards.
  11. Interesting how many of these companies have ties back to very senior administration officials (like the President and the Vice-President) but people maintain it isn't about money.
  12. Agreed, just indicating that the societies are very similar on some of these subjects. Just that the level at which public ridicule and harassment starts might be different.
  13. It is an interesting little experiment to read the thread about the "hot muslim swimwear" and the comments it contains about the treatment of muslim women by muslim men and then come and read this thread......
  14. There is a difference between: Me, Me, Me and looking at things on a somewhat grander scale. Actually it does work in electronics. Margins are now so low many competitors (Radio Shack for instance) are having extremely tough times competing.
  15. The majority of them were Saudi's, which country and its leading family remains a close ally, friend and financier of the Bush Family.
  16. yes it is an issue of politeness. That system is in place to partly help reduce the selling price of the electronics in the store. Since as a customer you are benefitting from that system when you make a purchase in that store, it is an issue of politeness to cooperate with that system, even if you legally don't have to.
  17. Actually in the end, that is exactly what this thread is about. We have established that the store has no legal right to enforce the checking of the receipt against the contents in your bag. So, it does come down to being polite enough as a customer to allow the process to happen, to allow the retailers to keep prices low.
  18. Learned something new, up here in the great white north there is no such thing. Just polie people who don't have an issue with showing their receipt. never even occured to me it is a very serious civil right that is being infringed upon.
  19. And the shopkeeper doesn't have the right to detain him under those circumstances. Either witness the whole act of theft and arrest him, but you can't just detain him on reasonable suspicion....only a LEO can do that.
  20. 500 are probably phsychiatrists to help him deal with his visions of ghosts and the voices in his head.
  21. 7 pages on whether or not some one should be polite enough to show their receipt to keep the costs of electronics low. 1 reply to the biography of President Bush which outlines your country is being run by a moron who hears voices, sees ghosts and cries on the shoulder of God. I think that says enough.
  22. sorry, didin't realize that not showing your receipt at the door of Circuit City was a right.....didn't show up in my civil liberties class.
  23. yes showing your receipt is the start of a very slippery slope. I mean it's not as if we have slightly more important things to think about.....
  24. Do you really see those as being the same? A man putting on a fake uniform would do it for you as well? For some reason that is not the impression I got from the other responses and previous conversations on this.
  25. Sure it is a problem, but you created it. What did you think was going to happen when you invaded another country with false reasons? Did you really think there would be no retaliation? When you fan the flames, the chance of getting burned goes up.....
