How about one that lasts a lifetime?

I can think of at least 3 different meanings to that sentence.

Teaching kids that racisim is alive and well
Andy9o8 replied to futuredivot's topic in Speakers Corner
So, it was the obvious meaning. Thereby making the thread title all the more appropriate. Don Nope, it was mocking the person in the article who got butt hurt over something silly. Don't people like that just make you sick? Eh, she probably has a chip on her shoulder and this is an excuse to complain. Happens all the time. I often see people like Tim Tebow get told that they arent good enough and they get a chip on their shoulder and the only way to get it off is to prove themselves by hard work. Somehow I dont think this woman would alleviate her chip by something so simple. Some people are what I call "chronic umbrage-takers". They see and take offense at the slightest perceived provocation, even when it's not there or not intended. Psychologists would probably diagnose them as borderline paranoid personalities. Anyhow, they don't really make me sick, but I've come to recognize that they're "socially dangerous", so I've learned to just avoid them. -
Yeah, but you fuck one goat... LOL, here's the version I heard: You build 100 bridges & they don't call you a bridge builder. You help 100 people & they don't call you a people-helper... ....but you suck one lousy cock...

On that note, if Regulator did that, then he's one of at least 3 of us who might have done so, including myself; one of my posts to him may have brushed that line. If it did, then, to Regulator, I apologize.

One who washes windows is a window washer. One who catches dogs is a dog catcher. One who rigs parachutes is, amazingly enough, a parachute rigger. Now's here's a riddle: what is one who has beaten children?
-
What a load of bullshit. I was disciplined many ways as a kid. Grounding, timeouts, not getting something, and when I did something really bad I got my ass whipped. My parents are far from child abusers or violent people in any way. When I got the belt I knew I better not fucking do that again. That's discipline, not battery. Congratulations, your star children got lucky and didn't need that sort of discipline. When I was a kid I liked to push the envelope and that's how I learned what not to do. Raise your kids how you want and let other parents do the same. Corporal punishment is the refuge of stupid, unimaginative people. Parents who batter their children should go to jail. Would you like some cheese with that whine? Battered ribs, anyone?

How deftly you omit the "offensive contact" from the latter part of your post. Tell you what: slap an adult in the face because he's acting like a douche. Do it in front of a cop. Let's see how much society tolerates that.

How should Tsarnaev be handled? Criminal or Enemy Combatant?

Those bastards! Now's not the time to go all wobbly and Mirandize them. -

Niggardly basically means very stingy. Logically, then, Republicans are niggard-lovers. -
Putting words in other people's mouths is bush-league chickenshit. For the record, we raised 2 kids to adulthood, and they're fine young adults. Plenty of discipline and strict supervision - but no violence. At any rate, anyone who thinks violence is an acceptable means of disciplining children is complicit with child abusers. Anyone who does it is a child abuser.
-
If children were physically capable of defending themselves against battery by adults, violence against children in the fraudulent name of "discipline" would never occur. "Corporal punishment"? What an antiseptic euphemism. Let's call it what it really is: Irresponsible parents of the weAk.

That she's a niggard. -
Well, actually, you disagreed that there was a sampling fail. There's only a sampling fail if you acknowledge that it's a poll of a limited group, likely to have a particular result. Kind of like polling atheists or young-earth fundamentalists on evolution, and then saying you found it interesting. Wendy P. Ok So you think that LEO's are pre-disposed to support 2nd Amendment rights more than gun control measures? From my own experience living (and working w/a lot of LEOs) in various parts of the country, it seems at least partly influenced by regional culture. In the Northeast (New England & Mid-Atlantic) part of the country, where civilian gun (especially pistol) ownership is not very common, and firearms are not a big part of the civilian culture, civilian gun rights issues are not part of the mindset or social conversation as much as in other parts of the country. Many LEOs in the Northeast did not grow up with guns in their parents' homes, either. So in a lot of the Northeast, police historically have favored gun control because they just want as many guns out of circulation as possible; and they want that because they view other peoples' guns as a hazard to their (the cops') lives while they're on the job. That segment of LEOs would probably be counted on to enforce gun control laws pretty faithfully. The LEOs who I might expect to be more concerned about gun control legislation from a 2nd Amendment perspective may more frequently be those in regions of the country where firearms are part of routine civilian culture, gun rights are an important part of the social conversation, and the officers as likely as not grew up with firearms.

That was not the point of my post. Go back and re-read Yeah, I was wondering, too, but impressed by his use of the word "vapid", so I let it go.
