    Venezuela

I'm going to skydive venezuela from jan 28th to feb 11th. I'm wondering if it's worth to bring my BASE-rig? Any information or contacts appreciated. No time or money for angel falls. thanks m
  2. no problem doing running exits in a Phoenix Fly Prodigy no idea, i never jumped with a gps,so no valid data besides watching the video.i would like to know it as well. here you go. website is far from completed.
  3. the horizontal distance of this jump is ~ 1200ft.(measured in a map) height ~ 1700ft, pull ~ 300ft. ~ 1500ft horizontal seems doable for me,perfect jump in perfect conditions. more with a crazy low pull. the question is: where ends tracking and where starts wingsuit? do i need a wing between my legs to call it wingsuit? a inflatable suit is a kind of wing i think. every piece of fabric you wear more than bermuda shorts is cheating and not pure tracking. but cheating can be fun
  4. this is the third "first jump" from the matterhorn i heard of. it's jumped by sputnik in 2002. according the jump magazine (issue 4,oct 1984,last side)it's already jumped in 1984 by pierre gevaux........
  5. maybe an option: Kayland Paraglider a good offer here: Northern Paragliding
  6. the pro-track works only if >6 seconds freefall and >1000ft agl. lower and shorter it still beeps sometimes, but no log. good flights with my phoenix-fly tracking suit are too slow for the spc-mode ==>wrong log (turns off early) the beeper is more or less useless, on most high jumps you don't have a flat ground. your opening altitude depends on how far you track over the talus. it's only a toy, nothing to trust. just my 2 cents..
  7. another system found on the german vdo website. http://www.base-jump.de/47782.html
  8. terminal speed in a phoenix-fly suit is much lower then without. for a good flyer this is around 100km/h and is reached after about 4 seconds. after about 6 or 7 you can be in a full flight. the lower speed gives you some extra seconds. the forward movement can give you extra altitude. correctly used it's a lot of fun and works very well in switzerland.
  9. douggs gave the advice "look between your legs for more performance" to several people. yes, this technique works great, but has the described down sides. try this in a skydive, remember the body position and fly this same position without looking behind you. looking too far in front of you is also bad. the real important thing is how high above ground you are,and the ground is directly below you. the best performing position is a very unstable position who has to be adjusted the whole flight. a little turbulence in the air can throw you around if you are not prepared for it. high performing tracks like this: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1735780;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread with a almost static body position are only possible in clean air. (no cross wind and turbulence) so if it's not the day for the good one,try again another day. don't go for stupid goals like passing a road and find yourself too low. i fly a classic tracking position with almost closed legs,do not look behind me and it performs similar like douggs technique. practice in a save (skydiving) environment, find the limits and the best performance of the suit before you basejump it. play save & have fun
  10. about the "famous" span: use your head before jumping a highway bridge, think about what a driver in the car thinks when you jump. the drivers never heard about BASE, they think you commit suicide. if you like to jump this site,do it early morning or at night when traffic is low. when you are ready to jump, wait for a gap in the traffic,so nobody see you leap. maybe wear a orange suit like a road repairer for camouflage. there is no need to jump this bridge, we have many similar sites without any bustfactor in our beautiful country. if you absolute want to jump this spot, do it when the valley is quiet, early morning. do one, enjoy, jump the other exits. don't jump during a funeral at the graveyard underneath. don't jump at night, the locals don't like it, also because of a possible helicopter rescue. play save, short delays combined with a slider, this is an advanced jump! be invisible, jump for you and not for the spectators,no impact. for all exits in the valley: land near roads on short grass. call air glacier right before every jump. ask for permission, let them know the spot and how many jumpers. don't leave trash on exits and landing areas. do a donation for the farmers. (in the horner's is a box to throw something in) there is also a list with shooting times of the local rifle club, have a look! they shoot through the main landing area of one spot! be save, have fun! m
