Do you really think that a person looking to suicide would ask for a safe way to disconnect their RSL. With no AAD, all you would have to do is not pull! Maybe he was interested in a bit of CReW work on the next jump with a mate. Who knows, you MAY just save a life AND prevent your precious DZ from an investigation at the same time. Something I had always wanted to do although I can't explain why. I look at a lot of things that most sane people would go "no way" and think "thats so cool". Then I caught an interview on TV with Patrick Swayze just after Point Break came out. He talked so passionately about jumping that I knew then and there that one day for sure I would be jumping out of a "perfectly good" plane. I was heavily into rock climbing at the time and never seem to have a spare $400 cash laying around to do it (wanted to do AFF straight up as I wanted to find out if had what it took) so kept it on the list but didn't really try to raise the money. Then I met my beautiful wife and she was kind enough (read stupid) to buy me a voucher for my AFF 1. She was 4 months along with our first kid. The moment I landed, I ran up to her like a little kid bouncing around saying "I wanna go again". She didn't mind me jumping so much but money was a BIG issue. Was climbing every weekend in the mountains 2.5 hrs drive away right up untill she popped. Didn't touch rock for 8months after that and was going bat shit CRAZY and told her as much. She asked me what I wanted to do about it and I said JUMP! Made a deal with her that if I could fund the whole course by selling some of my climbing gear then it was ok by her. Been jumping (although never as much as I would like) ever since. I still tell her that it's all her fault. Hey Zane, In simple terms, you do your AFF first, when you have passed the 9 stages you qualify for your A licence. With an A licence, you can do solos or jump with an instructor (in Australia) but will still have to use student gear untill you do a conversion course to your own gear. Maybe it's a childhood boy thing but seeing that in person would blow my little mind with thoughts rocketing off into space in search of adventures in far flung galaxies. I did see a vid where he commented on how hard it was to figure out what he should do to stop the spin, not only because of the speeds he was traveling but also due to the lack (none) of "feeling" inside his pressurized suit. He said than on a normal dive you can feel the wind pressure against you which gives you feeling on what to do to correct a spin but on this jump he just had to try different things and see what worked. Amazing when you see the footage of the spin how he keeps his cool and manages to flip himself off his back and get belly to earth. Dude is the MAN. I bought this - http://www.2kcomposites.co.uk/2kc-button-cutaway-7-p.asp and swapped the supplied ratchet strap for my chin strap and hey presto, the perfect chinstrap cutaway. I have it fitted to an open face that has an alloy Gopro mount but would work with any chinstrap. The "button" has a spring to keep it loaded so when you pull the cable out, it activley falls apart. Well depending on the make of container you have, you can get a stowless bag that uses tuck flaps instead of bands and never have a broken band again but you may just be using the wrong size bands. I use to break a band just about every jump until my rigger gave me some different size bands to use depending on how far down the line set I was trying to stow. Well I got my new EG suit yesterday and as yet I haven't jumped in it but I am really impressed (and a little surprised) with the build quality. It's damn near a perfect fit as well considering its "off the shelf". Can't complain at all for the price and would happly recommend them to anybody that falls into their size range and wants to save some $$ without buying crap. Thanks Edgardo. Short answer....no. Depending on the helmet, it will either have a standard foam covered lining or Cookies' new D3O lining which is a special inpact substance built into the lining. Both types are not "bakeable". As Cookie use different size liners over 2-3 shell sizes, you may be able to order a smaller liner giving you more room for your noggin. It would help if you know what size you have but failing that, measure your head and shoot Cookie an email telling him your problem.
