  1. It is a family here, and we try to help out everyone. I'm sure I speak with everyone that we hope our donations really help, and get you guys in the air more! Maybe in the future we can see you at boogies! I'll be so proud if that happens. You guys definately deserve it!
  2. I hope this helps. I don't have any equipment. but I hope the cost of a jump ticket helps ya ^_^
  3. hehe if the weather is good enough to jump this weekend. Don't forget Halloween party is Saturday night as well
  4. Vidiot: So (TM's name) are you ready to go? TM: yeap Vidiot: got your altimeter? Yeap! Goggles? Yeap! Student? Yeap! *vidiot walks around TM* Are you sure you're not forgetting anything? Nope! what about your parachute? Oh Sh**! *TM runs back and grabs rig* We dont' do it often, but when it's slowed down a bit we'll run this with students that are pretty easy going.
  5. I bet the other $51 is for the USPA membership fee. Yeap!
  6. Finished my profiency card this weekend!! First student from my DZ to do static line progression. (our AFF guy was hurt last year pretty bad doing a swoop) WOOT!! *does happy dance* now all i need is the $71 bucks to get my A license
  7. I'm usually straight forward Not blunt, but honest ya know. I usually tell them that most deaths occur when people are coming into land. Then I usually sprout out a bunch of safety precautions. AADs, reserves, gear checks.. yadda yadda yadda. I tell them, most of the time your main will work. if that doesn't work 99.9% of the time your reserve will work. But nothing is definate, just like crossing the street nothing is definate.
  8. I was a DZ baby, When my mom was working at the hospital on weekends, my dad would bring me out to watch him! I remember when I went back to his home DZ for my first tandem the DZO's wife saying to me how much she watched me when my dad would jump. It all depends on the DZ and the folks that are around to watch the kids. At our DZ I watch kids all the time while their parents jump, and I don't mind it at all. Though most of the experienced jumper kids know how to act, the first jump students who bring their kids out, I can pull my hair out sometimes though. One of our riggers jumped while she was still 8 months pregnant. then continued to jump after she had the kid. It really depends on what you feel like. Is it safe for you, and is it safe for the kid? We can all say what we think, but the ulimate decision is up to you.
  9. A) Hardwork reaps Big Rewards B) Trust C) Live Life Just guesses...
  10. At my DZ we had to raise prices. about a dollar more, but even that dollar more there was a significant increase to what people paid for their jumps.
  11. I'm at 24 jumps now, and yeah, still get sick to my stomach and way nervous. I just know I'll be sick to my stomach each time, till maybe 100 jumps.. maybe more. I dunno, still get a bit of "door fear" I am handling it a wee bit better. So don't worry about being nervous, we're all there with ya!!
  12. okies, I really don't understand what those numbers are... but I only got 1 jump... was working manifest and winds were high, finally around 7pm on sunday they died down enough and I did a jump, and it was the most fun so far!! went with our rigger and one of our instructors. My first time doing a count, first sunset load, and first time not doing a solo. No relative work, no instruction, just for the fun of it! whoo hoo! they did all these flips and stuff, and I just kinda hung out there. Our rigger started to move towards me and I though he was gonna dock, but I am told I had a bit of forward movement, so he couldn't grab me. but he wasn't going to dock, he was just gonna tackle me! SOB. Beautiful canopy ride, clouds and sun so pretty. Okies, I'm sorry I'm going on, but that was a great jump!
  13. Well I started doing manifest this season and only really started jumping this season, but I got my first skyride call. I was surprised, didn't really read up on them, just glanced through the threads here. I was pretty unfamiliar so I talked to the chick. Convo went like this. "So you have two customers who want to jump next weekend?" "Yes" "Ok... now do they pay us, or have they paid you?" "They have already paid" "Well you'll have to talk to the DZO then, and he's up in the plane. I'll have him call you back" They called Sunday, so I guess they are still in business or at least trying to be.
  14. When I finally said 'screw it, if I'm unstable, I'm unstable on exit, I'll get stable later. Well I looked in and saw the video guy there for the tandem, and I just watched him, as I fell away. My first stable exit, and after that.. it just clicked in. I really hadn't had a problem since.
  15. just about everything. I have my little skydive prayer that I do everytime we go up. When the door opens, I grab onto something, knowning it won't help much if something happens. My stomach gets upset while I'm on the ground, once I get into the plane I calm down, usually with breathing exercises to relax me. and I constantly check my handles.
  16. I didn't even bother to look at the second one. heheh anyhoos, as one who is into graphics arts myself. It's really good! only little bit of advice I would give is that the back foot doesn't look attached, I don't know if you meant that or not, or jsut the program you using being a bizernitch. BTW what program are you using? Poser? and what model is that?
  17. hehhehe I'm getting made fun of at work cause it's named after me =D
  18. Most of the time if you take an image, and edit it with wording and what not, they use adobe photoshop. Send it to the place that is going to said advertisement as a .pdf file and it won't get distorted. they'll be able to fix it =D
  19. Bah! you took my saying!! yeah, if you work in skydiving, expect to live in an old trailer, car barely holding together, and no insurance. but it's fun!
  20. I was static line as well and did like 6 of them. Finally it was time for my first freefall. I just kept telling myself it's just like the static line, it's just like you've practice.. no difference. but there was a difference. "Arch" "Reach" "Holy Shizernit I flipping" "Pull" It was so weird not the feel the tug from the S/L
  21. Woot! Welcome to the Sky! Money is a huge huge issue, but the love will never go away. I made my first two jumps when I was 18 in Marine City, and when I was a wee little one watch my dad jump at Marine City and Tecumseh. Then when I had to go away to College, I was elated to find there was a DZ right in town! So I went and hung out, then got a job packing, unfortunately at the time I had no money what-so-ever. So the small amount of money I made it went to bills, but I would sit around constantly listening to stories, and watching videos. Now finally at 25, I'm actually doing my jumps! (there was an opening in manifest, so I could make a wee bit more money) and had a "real Job" as I like to call it. There is way if there is will! I knew a guy who did our rigging for a year or two, but after his first jump, moved out of his apartment and lived in his van so he could have more money for jumps! I have no idea if any of that made sense. =D
