Kevlar --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

The optical illusion that occurs in the photo was not staged - great shots usually happen when no one is looking. If you think three dimensions you can imagine the scenario where everyone is flying safe, within parameters and as planned. But I really like the illusion that this canvas provides. By the way . . . the By Line on the photo is Roberto Neto. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Hey Steve, I worked on slides in the tunnel. It helped in two ways. 1. I didn't have too many things on my mind. 2. I could tell when I was starting to spin and when it was lateral. If you get the movements down, the instructors will come in with you and provide counter pressure to allow you to increase the force without banging the walls. May that would help a little - just a thought. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

what was the Stallone movie where he jumped out of a small jet, got his canopy caught on the tail and had to cut it away with his big assed knife and then lost all of his stuff except the nuclear bow and arrow. That was a nice sequence. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

I can't decide, it's between "The Wild Geese" and "Navy Seals". Of course you've gotta love the "gummipuppen" in "The Longest Day" even though they were working with rounds. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Don't go there There is a component of work that lifts the people in the tunnel There is a component of work that moves the air through the tunnel There is a component of work that overcomes the resistence to the air moving through the tunnel What's energy is left in the air after it leaves the tunnel is available for conversion to some other form of energy. That prossess would be lossy. The cost benefit of capturing that energy would be an interesting equation, but knowing what wind energy costs to produce I would say it would cost more to recature it. NOW, if you made the air path a closed loop (recirculated) your fans would be more efficient and that would be an interesting equation as well. I'm sure that it has been calculated. As long as tunnel flyers are willing to pay the energy loss costs of open circuit tunnels, my guess is that no greenies are going to build closed circuits for the purposes of saving energy. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Ask the waiter for a clean plate (in a nice restaurant they are always waiters). Remove it from my mouth with my fingers and place it on the clean plate. Ask the waiter to return it to the chef - if it's a nice restaurant it should never have been part of your meal. Leave no tip. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

I didn't tell a soul, Honest. Well except for a few people at Couch Freaks, and then the DZ crew at Skydive Kansas, and well, it was kinda slow at Lake Wales this weekend and we didn't have anything else to talk about, but except for that NO ONE. .... Honest .... --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Because when I got to the drop zone there was a sign on the window, "Closed, Pilot out of town till next Tuesday." WAIT!!! Sebastian is only an hour south of here - never mind . . . . --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Hook-up with me when you're at the DZ and I'll fill in whatever blanks Paige leaves (it won't be many). Paige and Ari are great to fly with (and learn from) and the tunnel event is going to be some serious fun. :ppls ok for jumping Saturday. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Did it at 54 in April-May. At 117 jumps now. This is the second time around for me - I went through military training in the 60's and static line in the 70's but laid off for 30 years, so just zeroed the clock and started over. I'm having a ball and just taking it easy on the body - plenty of stretching and occassionally Aleve or Advil. Have a ball and don't rush. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

Matrox RT.X100 Xtreme Pro (or Like) Real-Time Render Card Q.'s
alw replied to CTSkydiver's topic in Photography and Video
I'm running a set-up similar to what you describe. Biggest avantage is render and DVE. I don't notice any advantage on transcode. One disadvantage to working in hard accelerated files is transferring the files to a machine that does not have the card's codec (like the DC 1000). Matrox gives you instructions on how to load the codec on machines that do not have the hardware installed to overcome the situation. I still find a need to digitize analog stuff and the RTX100 handle that quite nicely. At the end of the day, It won't blow you away, but it will give you more tools that will simplify your life. I use the pan and scan and other DVE's regularly since I shoot almost exclusively in 16x9. Hope this helps. By the way - I traded up from my DC1000 and got the Premiere Pro package in the bargain. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure. -

I'm no sky god and haven't been to 100's of DZ's, but I've got enough frequently flyer miles to get me most of the way to the sun. When I travel I appreciate things that uncomplicate my life and make me feel at home. This is a DZ that does just that. No hassles and an expectation of a "Safety First" attitude. Helpful locals that treat you like you've lived there all your life. Clean orderly equipment and enough lifting power to get me into the air as often as I cared to go. It's not a big, high density DZ with turbine aircraft, but they know how to put up a 182 load and get the most out of the jump. The trip to altitude gives you great views of the area lakes and the rural Kansas countryside. My non-jumping family came with me and had a great time. Plenty of compfy couches and lawn chairs and a great view of old dad's jump and landing. I gauge a business by it's service and product. SDK passes on both counts and delivers just what they promise. There aren't too many DZ's in this part of the country and I can really appreciate having one close to my wayward daughter so I have a place to jump when I visit. If you're in the KC area and want to experience all the ambiance of a "Home Dropzone", give Skydive Kansas a try. Just stear clear of the Kansas Wind Tunnels (A.K.A. tornado) - they're for hard core Xtreme FF only.

I make sure the lights stay on all over the world. Or, as my daughter says, "He sits in a big office and talks on the phone all day - I think he works for the telphone company." --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

If you have a rig mounted hook knife - you may want to remove it and put it in your checked luggage. I carried on a few times and not been hassled about it, but sinced it occurred to me to removed it and put it in the checked stuff I KNOW I won't get hassled. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

whats the average and highest exit altitude you get AGL?
alw replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Think of it this way - It's 97 degrees F on the ground and you're gonna be back in 13 minutes or less - now balance that against a nice leisurely ride to altitude in a 182. Boring and Cool --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.
