    Florida DZ

Central Florida Definately - The must jump DZ's Titusville - Skydive Space Center - Highest and fastest to altitude, great relaxed atmosphere. Bunkhouse, view of the space center. Sebastian - Coastal view, good equipment, friendly, and well run. Z-Hills - swoop pond, great pro shop, best place to hang out on the ground, lots of people in the winter. Deland - Well, it's Deland after all. For all the reasons stated and just so you can say you did. And don't forget: Palatka and Lake Wales. If you're here you could really get the flavor of what Florida skydiving is all about. 2. I bought the pants and jacket as part of my wingsuit training program and because I wanted this gear in addition to a wingsuit for those time when more hang time was desirable but a wing suit would be too much. A dozen jumps after picking them up and I'm sold on the concept and design. The stuff that others have written is on the mark so I won't do a rehash. Other observations might enlarge the envelope for applications. I'm a larger person at 6' 190lbs but there are times when I'd like to jump with the lighter jumpers without the need for them to wear weights. With a little effort, I can get down to them and control fall rate to stay on formation on belly dives. It does require attention to detail on leg position to keep out or the forward motion range. I really like the lower fall rate without the flapping of a bulky jump suit. Once inflated, it is stable and relatively quiet. I find a range of control that is more than I had exspect and the range of fun which is proportional. On your back the flapping is palpable - recovery to belly to earth is standard and fairly easy. Controlling the suit is a natural progression for me and simulation of wing suit pull time procedures gives me a feel that is very much what I experienced jumping the Prodigy. All in all a managable progression for expanding my flight envelope. When dressing for success this is a must have for the skydiving wardrobe. Be prepared for some subterminal openings and water weight loss.

    Video editing

Take a look at this on Skydivingmovies.com It's an example of what you can do with a $5000 camera and a free software program. I used Microsoft moviemaker - it comes with XP. There are only two edits in the timeline - opening credits and closing credits. I just kept the output to the wmv file, but could have chosen to put it back on my camera's DV tape. Later on you'll ask about DVD authoring - try the Photography forum - lots of information and good advice on things to know before you jump with a camera. Any editing program rocks if you know how to use it and you are creative - any other program sucks if you are familiar with something else. If you want to try Premiere, you can download it from the Adobe Website and try it out for a short time for free. If you are a student you can get a break on pricing of the more sophisticated programs - check with your schools AV department. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2766 --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

  17. Here's just a thought. With your jump numbers you're likely getting more relaxed and confident under canopy and on landings. If that's the case you may be carrying more speed into the approach and then converting that energy into lift on flare instead of arresting your descent with sharper control inputs. That said, if this theory holds any water you're getting a different sight picture when the LZ gets up close and personal. All good advice comes from seeking it and you'll get the answers from the folks at your DZ that know. Perhaps this might be one of the reasons why it's happening. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

  20. If I felt like I do most of the time these days back when I was twenty, I'd never get on the plane. These days it's just normal. I'm more of an Aleve man myself. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.

  22. Might want to take a look at 2kComposites also. Smooth, clean, well built and minimal snag points. It's light and fairly easy to set up once it arrives. Might also want to look at a lower profile wide angle lens. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.
  23. This was one of those posts, like the smell of baking bread reminds you of grandma, reminded me of Duke. He had a Wolfpacks backpack with his SAR badge and ID on it that he carried on "hump it in" searches. I carried the water and food, he carried the medical supplies and an airline 6oz water bottle. We did it that way because he could better be trusted to get the first aid kit to where it was needed. When I read the post I got to thinking and looked in his trunk. There it was, packed and ready to go just like always. Made me get all misty thinking about the time he got stuck going between two trees when he was first learning to pack. He stood there for a few minutes just waiting for me to catch up and show him how to get loose. Fun is when you do it together, trust when he packs what you need, respect is when you count on eachother without thinking about it. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.
  24. I like Encore DVD by Adobe. It allows you to make a hybrid data/video - animate menus - essentially make your DVD look very professional. Just need to add some creativity. Cons - pricey - transcoding is sometimes timeconsuming without a powerful computer. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure.
