  1. Jay Stokes did 642 skydives in 24 hours and in an interview he said 700 was possible. I wish I lived in Denver and could come watch. ... Marion

  3. I am somewhat of a loner as well. In the past I was involved in activities that often were done alone (running, cycling) and was happy with that. Then I took up skydiving. Skydiving won't be much fun by yourself. Once you are over the initial thrill of it. Solo jumps aren't nearly as much fun as being out there with others. It is a very social sport. Plus you depend on each other for safety as well. We all share information and look out for each other. Here is the good news... I have discovered that most in the skydiving community are very open and welcoming to new people (of course there are exceptions). The good news is that if you reach out, just a little, you will find people who will draw you in, nurture you, help you, teach you and become new friends. The current episode of Skydive Radio deals with new people in the sport. Give it a listen... http://media.libsyn.com/media/skydiveradio/sr115_03_31_09.mp3 Let us know how it goes... ... Marion

  8. That is a list to be sure, but it doesn't show who intends to go, but have not registered yet. Also, those are real names, I only know some people by their dz.com username. ... Marion
  9. I wonder if you are referring to last year's Skyfest, held at Chester. If so I was in that group that Scott Gray was organizing. I did my first gainer exits there. All I really have to add is that they are easy, they are fun, and I want to do more. ... Marion
  10. Update on Monroe. Apparently it may actually reopen, perhaps as early as May of this year. See the attached article from the Walton Tribune. I still think Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston is my favorite dropzone, but the drive is a big issue. I learned to jump at Monroe (during the years after Bill left) and have fond memories of it. I have heard all the stories, but it is so close to my house that I would have to give it a try if it opened. ... Marion

  17. My first one was at the last Dublin St Patricks Day boogie in March 2007. Chuck Blue got me started. I remember I walked up in a freefly jumpsuit and proceeded to put the demo wingsuit on OVER the jumpsuit. I remember Chuck had a funny look on his face but he refrained from calling me an idiot. Thanks Chuck. ... Marion
