    SCR & SCS

If I had time' Id give you the whole story. But it started in the 1960's. To keep the memory of Bob Bocur(sp) alive. Bob videoed the 1st 8 man star. Later on he died while filming footage of skydiving for a movie. The spot was off and he landed in water & drowned but saved the footage. it is a great tradition and one that needs to stay alive. Every Skydiver should go through an SCR ceremony. Remember you cannot pour unless you've been poured upon. and it's not over til we say. Plus it's a great way to look at chicks hard nipples through white t shirts as you pour!!
  2. "Besides, AntiMike owes me Heineken....." Ok I 've beed reading all these posts abut the DZ.com record, Texans don't sweat it. But whats this shit about me owing Heiniken. has caught my attention. Why & Who
  3. definitley Spaceland, runs 7 days a week normally, I can get out there at 4:00 any day of the week and still make at least 2 loads
  4. OK OK OK Lets everybody slow down on this FAA shit! I was on every one of these 40 ways. It was the best skydivng days of my life!!! This misconception of San Marcos Otter running out of gas is completley un true!! There are 3 pilots that I think are some of the best first is Steve Boyd, second is Stew Cav and 3rd is Mark Allen. That otter DID NOT RUN out of gas, it had some problems with the engine ( I'm not an A&P so I don't know what the problem was) the formation load was aborted. The otter landed with both engines running, As soon as it was on the ground a full run up was done and it flew first thing in the morning empty of jumpers just to check it out. This formation event was so well organized and executed from the organizers to the pilots to the manifest...oh yea plus the jumpers, it was an incredible thing to be a part of. AND just to let everybody know what a class act Mark is he bought the jump for all 42 of us, on the pilot communication load!!!!!!! So lets stop the negative comments. Any one of you on this forum would have given your left testicle or overy to be on this well organized and executed event. How many of you have been on 13-40 ways in one weekend? I say HATS off to Spaceland, Jack Berke, Tom Jenkins for hosting and organizing. And also a Great big thanks to Phil Chaplel DZO of San Marcos for suppling his fine otter and pilot!!!!!
  5. poor poor baby, stuck on your block cause it's blocked off for mardi gras and boobies....and you expect sympathy?
  6. 2. A slow person can nearly always reach a much faster person, and when they dock, they naturally slow down the formation. (This is true of even two fast people.) The opposite is not true - a faster person cannot, generally, slow down to match the slowest a slow person can go. Therefore it's generally better for the slow person to speed up. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I definitley agree, The point i was trying to make is that all people have to adjust. Of course in the bigger formations the base has to fall fast and everybody matches the base... But as you know as the larger formations build they tend to slow down, so the folks docking last better be able to slow down their fall rate or it's ooops there they go what a pretty formation that is above me
  7. I agree with almost everything said except " it is the resposibility of the slow person to speed up" The term relative work means everybody stays relative to each other. be it 2 people or 40. Both parties need to adjust! If you have a naturally fast fall rate put alittle altitude in your pocket right as you release grips, takes a little practice but it will become 2nd nature afer a while Plus what everybody else said.
  8. I have quite a few skydiving videos, willing to fly by Norman Kent is my absolute favorite there is alot of artsy fartsy stuff on it but that's why you have a fast forward. The skydiving footage is fantastic along with the falcon footage. Cross wind is good if you like alot of base and freeflying, i didn't think there was enough RW footage. Norman Kent's from wings came flight is good but old footage. A great entertaing video is good stuff, lots of cool shit in there. The best place to order these is of course SQUARE 1. PS of course the best skydiving videos are the ones with ME in them. I could probably sell you those for a couple of grand. Don't pull low unless you are
  9. YEA ZEN great pics they could have been better if I was in at least one
  10. yea videoo can be a scary thing!!!!
  11. Hey Pammi, First of all it was great to meet you, glad you had a great time. I was watching Paula's video of the record and have a little advice, first of all you were right on at exit, eyes on the formation and good body position both legs and arms, then as the base settled and you were in perfect position to dock, for some reason instead of maintaing your good body position you stuck your legs straight out and dropped your left knee that is when you started circling, then you (this is crutial) you were set up for your dock but probably 10feet above the base your legs were straight out and you went over the top, the rest is history, So the moral of this story is you have good arm position what you need to work on is your legs.,You should use your legs to drive your self in and slow yourself down you can't do that if your legs are always straight out. When your on your approach (for now) stop about 5 to 10 feet above it and 5 to 10 feet away from it, then slowly match the bases fall rate and get level with it still 5 ft away horizontally, then use your legs by sticking them out a little at a time for your forward movement, if you start to approach to fast pull you legs back in a little, always always aproch the formation either on level or no more than 6 to 12 INCHES above or below, Because what happens whe you reach out with your arms you backslide, I once had a jumpmaster tell me along time ago that if you can't bite it don't grip it. As far as your zooming around the formation, when you feel yourself doing that STOP everything and RELAX and do a quick body check how are my arms and where how are my legs. I know how you feel though at least for me the hardest jumps I ever made were #'s 50 to 150, hang in there it will come, I understand you have 70 some jumps, so you've only been practicing freefall fo just over an hour!! Hope this helps!! Blue skies anti mike
