  1. Dale, The Speed2000 150 will be too small for that container. A Speed2000 190 would be your best bet, although a 170 would also work. Blue Skies, Johnny
  2. Mike, In my opinion, your best bet is to talk to either Clarence (Skydive Hawaii) or Guy (Pacific). They are the managers for the two DZs. Clarence is the short guy with the white beard and red jumpsuit typically found herding people toward the airplane at Hawaii, and Guy is easy to find with his accent. If possible, drive out there and talk to them personally. The island is only 30 miles long and even from Diamond Head it's only a 45 minute drive. It that's not feasible, call them. Make sure you talk to them personally and not whoever is working manifest that day. The manifestors are usually frantically running around trying to keep the tandems happy, for the most part don't jump, and don't have the authority to work with you. Not bad people, just don't have the knowledge, horsepower, or personal connection to address your needs. Clarence funjumps regularly and Guy used to be a jumper. Planting yourself in fron of them in person will, a) give them a face they may remember from last time you jumped there instead of just a name and an e-mail and b) make it harder to say no. Quietly and politely explain: have own gear, last time jumped, $250 a little steep for you right now, you'll show up before the tandems one day to knock it out, etc. If they stand firm with the quoted price just say you'll think about it, walk the hundred yards to the other DZ and start over. Up jumpers are not the top priority for either operation, but they are absolutely cutthroat when competing with each other for everything and anything. From my experience one of them will work with you, one won't. You'll figure out which is which. Anyway, that's just my 0.02. Hope it helps and good luck.
  3. Kathleen, Hey, hey, hey, go easy with the experience label! I am but a pup hoping to learn as much about jumping as a lot of skydivers have forgotten. I, personally, am a fan of the C-182 as a student plane. Once a jumper is comfortable with the flying jungle gym, exiting most every other aircraft is a piece of cake. As for the instructors reaction ... `Staff Meeting!' Blues skies, John
  4. Kathleen, Congratulations! You should be proud of yourself! Seriously. You were presented with a painful and distracting situation (seeing one's own blood obscuring the goggles has a way of capturing the mind's attention) early in the skydive, yet you still controlled your body position, pulled at the correct altitude, pulled stable, and landed on target without assistance. If I were your instructor I would be proud of how you handled yourself and have a lot of confidence in you after this. Good job and good luck with your continued training. Blue skies, John

  8. I've got a good last sentence for ya: "In conclusion, whether viewed objectively or subjectively, skydiving ROCKS!" That'll give your prof something to think about.
  9. S/L C-182 until off student status, then got my first taste of 12,500 from a Queen Air
  10. Paratec will also custom size Next and Next Century containers to fit smaller main/larger reserve configurations.
  11. Rascal 227 and a Firelite reserve in an exposed riser Racer Got a stiff talking to from the DZO/STA about the dangers inherent in square reserves.
  12. Paratec makes canopies, containers, and helmets and offers discounts to military members. PM me; or call Ken Krueger at (914)4841448 or myself; or check-out www.paratec-usa.com for more info. Blue skies, You can have a lot of fun skydiving without ever making a hook turn, swooping, or flying a tiny highly loaded canopy. - 377 No, no; without good grammar, skydiving is meaningless - Andy908
