[unnecessary blab]Any n distinct objects can be arranged in n! { = 1 * 2 * 3 * ... * (n-1) * n } different ways because you have n choices for the object that goes in the first place, then (n-1) choices for the object in the second place (because you've used up one object to put in the first place) then (n-2) choices for the third place and so on, until you've built up an ordered list of your n objects. (this only works if all the objects are different) So if you have four objects, say "1", "2", "3" and "4", you try to build an ordered list of them - you have four choices for the first object in the list (any of the four), three choices for the second object (any of the four less the object you put in the first position, which you can't put in the second position as well), two choices for the third object and then one choice for the last object, which makes 4*3*2*1 = 4! = 24 different possible arrangements.[/unnecessary blab] So using a factorial to find the number of possible arrangements only applies if; 1) You're trying to find out how many arrangements of n objects there are in n different spaces. 2) You aren't allowed to include duplicates - so eg [1,2,3,2] is not allowed.

So what's the difference between just a "sleeping bag roll" and a complete psycho pack?
-
That would change the ballance of boys vs. girls though...

Use artistic licence and suit the miles per day, fuel situation, flight plan etc to suit your needs.

Anyone hear about the camera-man who jumps without gear?

Sorry for the questions but... What's a flat circular, what are crown lines and what is a four line release? -
P.S. just wondering - how popular/common were blast handles? Were they "the standard" at any point, or what?
-
Thanks for the pics! What's that yellow piece of webbing (1" tubular?) with the friction adapter (???) half way up it?
-
Thanks all for clearing that up - from what I had heard before, blast handles were just absolute death traps, plain and simple! Mind you, that was mostly based on 2nd hand information from people who had never actually seen a blast handle in real life...

I think so... so the ferrule snaps onto the outside of the ripcord housing, with the boss in the middle that ends up getting inserted inside the housing, and all you do when you drill it is remove the boss? And the boss was the bit that caused the trouble because it wedged itself a little too well inside the housing?
-
I know they [blast handles] are banned in the UK - how does a drilled blast handle differ from an un-drilled one?
-
Is that also a blast handle right at the bottom of the second pic? By the way thanks very much for the replies everyone - much appreciated!

Will a kitten survive a free-fall-assist from 320' with a 46" p/c?

So long as BASE PC manufacturers don't start labeling their products as "tested on animals", I see nothing ethically wrong with this. Otherwise, it's sick. -
I have a picture ("quite old") of a Javelin with reversed risers - is this some sort of retro-fit, or did Sun Path once use reversed risers on the Javelin? If so, when did this end? Cheers, John G

What to throw out of a plane?
JohnGraham replied to highfly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You can't do that - as soon as it's cute and cudly, people start giving a shit! Kill cows all you want, just don't kill anything that's "cute". -
I'll give you 3 tries to pack a line over and if you can I'll pay for the repack. Sparky I'll see your 3 and raise you double. No one knows how to pack a line over. It's a sucker bet. rl So how exactly would one go about packing this particular mal?
-
Heh! Yeah, our uni club got an e-mail from them too. We definitely think that we should corporate with them.
-
What is it? Is it supposed to be factual? The TV always likes to sensationalise everything
-
And thank you all for the responses, by the way - 'tis much appreciated!
-
Just out of interest - which type is used for harnesses/risers etc?
-
Just wondering... How high *should* your average reserve PC launch into the air if you lay the fully packed rig on the ground and pop it? Is there anything to say what is acceptable/unaceptable? Just wondering, as a curiosity more than anything else.

I would love to see pics of Trent Reznor doing a tandem - if anyone has any please give 'em up!
