  1. Hi all - I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of the manual for a swift plus reserve. I know a link to one on the web, but it seems to have gone down. Can anybody point me to one or perhaps PM/email me one? Much appreciated.
  2. One of the best things about this DZ is the friendly nature of everyone who works and jumps there, regardless of how many jumps you have. There's a great fun-jumper vibe if you just want to jump your ass off, and coaches if you want coaching, too. Although it's a fairly small DZ, the gear shop and rigging facility is great - it would not be at all out of place at a DZ many times the size it is! The rental gear is also top-notch and well maintained if you need to hire it. I would definitely head back there more regularly myself if it weren't at the other end of the country!
  3. So long as they don't wee on my canopy I'm good.
  4. But that would defeat the point - you might as well just hire a human!!!
  5. Will they work for bananas and pats on the head? If so, can I borrow one?
  6. Do you think you could train a monkey to pack? Obviously you might want to watch it to make sure it doesn't give you a mal because it didn't get enough bananas or something. and it might need a hand bagging it, but it could use it's tail to help it... Well, whadaya think?
  7. Man, I should really get back to those AA meetings sometime.
  8. [Sean Connery Accent]I must be dreaming... The name's Bond - Uni Bond. I've come to fill your crack...

  10. "Wow, you fixed it for me!"
  11. It's your job to stick puppies down your pants? Shame on this guy for trying to put you out of business. On an unrelated note, where do I apply?
  12. It's lucky my boss is away for the day, that just made me laugh at the top of my voice at work! "Combat RW" - that's the best thing I've heard in a while!!! Could someone explain what a Jerry Bird rig is? Anyone got a picture?
  13. If you've not already, go here and read (among other things) the advanced packers course, basic riggers course and parachute riggers course syllabuses. Also it almost goes without saying that asking a local rigger about it is something that should be done - after all, when you go for an advanced packers rating you need to recruit a supervising parachute rigger, so it can't hurt to express an interest early. Getting on an advanced packers course is a matter of phoning up the BPA office and getting a bunch of numbers/suggestions for people who might be running courses and phoning them up. I know Andy Paige [at UK parachuting] is running one a round + square course in November because I'm on it, hoping to go down the same route. Good luck!
  14. Just wondering - what exactly do you mean by "on the #1 flap"? Is that above the #1 flap (ie between #1 and #2) or below the #1 flap (ie between the top of the PC and the #1 flap)?
  15. I will [finally!] be learning to sit-fly this coming weekend and I had a thought about weight belts. I'm a lanky runt so I have to wear 20lbs of lead to keep up with all the real skydivers when I'm flat-flying, but what considerations would there be when learning to freefly? For starters, will it be easier to learn one way or the other, or would it not make any difference at all? How easy/hard would I find it to transition from FFing with weights to FFing without weights? Will another jumper have potential problems keeping up with a feather-weight newbie who can't really put too much speed on in his early jumps, or will going into more of a stand position to keep up with them be easy for me to do? Is there anything else I'm not thinking of here?
  16. Just as you get to the door and before your instructor turns to you, ask him if he's ready to skydive.
  17. One guy at my center jumps a BT50! I don't know much about it's performance, but I think it's "lightly tapered" and the four outermost cells have three chambers (not cross-braced, I'm pretty sure) instead of two - don't suppose anyone knows what the thinking behind that is, per chance?
  18. Whuffo: "Has anyone died skydiving?" Me: "What, this week?"
  19. Just wondering, but does "pack opening" equate to pin out of closing loop, bagged canopy out of pack tray, canopy out of bag or what?
