You're confused. That wasn't the employee review, that was at the DZ.
-
For some reason, people feel as though they must find something "wrong" on employee reviews. I think its a lack of training in personnel counseling. We all have strengths and weaknesses and as long as the strengths outweigh the weaknesses, then one should leave the counseling session on a high note. For example, rather than saying you curse too much, he could have said, "You are a very effective employee and accomplish most of the goals placed before you in a timely and efficient manner. As such, you are a little more under the microscope for promotion consideration than most. If I could share with you one thing that could improve your chances in that consideration for promotion, would you be interested? As one moves up within the organization, they will find themselves interacting with those more at the executive or architectural level. You're going to find that indulging in vulgarities may be effective amongst the contractors and you have demonstrated that situational effectiveness. Perhaps you could begin to practice ways of communicating the same intensity while concurrently reducing those vulgarities so that when the time comes for you to interact with those at that executive or architectural level, that transition will be much smoother." Situationally, one should emulate the communication patterns of the environment and needless to say a female who indulges in vulgarities within the construction arena is going to be more respected by the ranks as one who does not need to be walked on eggshells around. I would venture to say, the guys admire you for not being one of those prissy girls that is offended by vulgarities and makes the majority of the "guys" feel like THEY might be creating the "hostile workplace." Your job is to be effective amongst the majority and not reactive to the prudish minority. Having said that, he is your boss and perhaps just while he's around, you could tone it down. He is entitled to his perception and you don't want that single thorn to fester into reasons for dismissal. Better to find something else on your terms, than have to find something on their terms.

Should the Reserve be larger or same size as the Main?
nightjumps replied to skymiles's topic in Gear and Rigging
'What's right for your weight at the MSL you "might" jump at' = what you said. Sometimes larger than the main; sometimes smaller. It's not about making your container symmetrical, it's about jumping an F111 canopy suitable for your weight and other related risk/factors (MSL, unconcious, injured arm, skydiving discipline, etc.) -
Just one question; Will we get issued our own set of boobies to play with?

You may wish to read this thread regarding Organ Donation. The assignment was a Persuasive Speech. As the Professor, I was persuaded and made the requisite changes to communicate that my organs be donated. The student received an "A." http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1059788;search_string=organ%20donation;#1059788 -
About twenty years ago, myself and a fellow skydiver took our dates to a rodeo. The first event was the bucking bronc. The first five guys out of the chute were taken to the hospital. Jim and I looked at eacvh other and said those exact same words. Thanks for the memory...

Anytime you can take a newsperson, dignitary, TV or movie star on a tandem, you'll get free publicity. -
I wonder what your thoughts would be about creating a form to filled out prior to posting an "Incident." There has been more than one time that it would appear that there is a rush to be the first to post rather than provide quality of information. Many times, people have to ask the same questions, W/L, Main canopy, Reserve type, AAD, RSL, etc. If there were drop down boxes for injury, fatality, gear, and an open text box for additional information, etc.

When does Your Audible first go off on RW jumps

I wear two. One ProTrack, one ProDytter. Both set at the same altitude. Set at; Breakoff (4k), Pull (3k)and do something really different (1800). -
I think you're going to need more than 6 bundles. While 6 bundles is "supposed" to cover 200 sq.ft., you will be trimming shingles to stagger each row (5 1/4," if I remember correctly); the first row is one line of shingles placed upside down directly on edge with the roof-line, then the "real first" row is placed on top with about a three inch overhang. Having said that, its been about 15 years since I've done roofing so you might check with your local Lowe's guys. Here's a little doodad I found for ya.... http://www.primeshop.com/roofcalc.htm And for future references... http://alsnetbiz.com/homeimprovement/calculators.html edited to add: You're going to need some roof felt under the shingles also.

OK. When folks say, "Loud" that is really an under expression. More like thunderously annoying. The thing ran until 11:00 PM and we couldn't even hear ourselves talking. Plus, you'll need to create a "no fly" zone for canopies so if it gets voted in, it'll need to be placed way away for quiet with the landing pattern in mind.

Their pack volume is similar ro other reserves of the same sq. footage. Not all reserves are measured the same. For example, a Micro-Raven 109-M is smaller than a PD-106R.

We offer the flat pack at the beginning of the month and the PRO-pack a couple of weeks later. We teach the flat pack because most of our student mains are F111 and not because they can't be pro-packed, but because it gives a more detailed understanding of the line groups and reason for line tension. Once they've got the basics down, it's easier on the student to migrate to the Pro pack. I (we) teach the pro pack a little differently in that we have the students split the line groups over each shoulder, spread everything out so the seam of the centerline is running straight down their crotch and then work from the "D" line groups up to the "A" line groups. We've found that they can "see" the orientation easier and faster than throwing all the lines over one shoulder and trying to work down into the myriad of lines. We charge $25.00/person for the first flat pack class and ask that they provide the beer and pizza for the second class (we are a Cessna DZ). As for the roll pack, we don't formally teach that, but do introduce them to it at the end of the propack class and usually demonstrate it once. Then if they want to learn to psycho pack as personal preference, it's more on an ad hoc basis.

Need Computer Graphics Help for Skyfest Award
nightjumps replied to nightjumps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We are trying to develop a second and third generation certificate for award at this year's Skyfest Boogie. These certificates will be awarded to those skydivers that achieve the SCR/S in succession of a parent or grandparent. The third generation ceritificate will be awarded to those who have had a grandparnet, parent and themselves achieve the SCR/S award. I have developed a draft of the certificate in PowerPoint as a focal instrument of the goal we're trying to achieve. I'm wondering if someone would be willing to take that focal instrument and use thier computer graphic skills to turn it into a professional looking certificate. I can supply the SCR/S and Skyfest logo graphics along with the focal instruments, give complete autonomy and artistic license. The pay is gratis, however I'm confident that honorable mention would be publicly made and the assistance in perpetuating the goal rewarding. Needless to say, with Skyfest being next week, time is of the essence so if you can't do it in a day or so, we understand. Completion for this year's certificate could be revised and embellished for next year's Skyfest. If you would like to and can be of help, please PM me with your email address and perhaps something you've done like this (my email is in my profile). If you are a good graphic artist AND are planning on attending skyfest, I will personally ensure that your time will be compensated in some way, whether it be jumps or some other form of accolade. -
Well, stop it. It's not you they resent as much as their own inability to mature, grow and develop. Ten years from now, you'll have high school chums that will be doing the same thing they're doing today. You need to do what's best for you. They'll always be your high school mates, but the relationship will change over the years. Get on with your life and wish them the best in theirs.

Just to let everyone know...... Just got approval from Bill N. allowing use of the SCR/S logo in conjunction with the Skyfest logo to create a very special certificate for 2nd and 3rd generation SCR/S recipients and to be assigned a very special (and low) number. If your parents or grandparents received their SCR/S, please bring documentation to Skyfest so we may not only award your SCR/S, but in addition a copy of your special certificate and number.
