btw - i think the colour scheme of peckerhead's rig http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=60691; is awesome, and might give you an idea what looks nice around red Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

My Era...What do you remember that was so COOL from our era?
Orange1 replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
Some of us remember from our era Rick James's Superfreak, which he ripped off, sorry, sampled for that Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
In that case, I just might let you jump with me if I ever make it to that part of the world Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I know. I looked at his 4 jumps, looked at your profile (all those instructor ratings are correct, right?) and thought - huh??? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Hmm, from some guy with 4 jumps in a S&T thread: Is our training here deficient? I never got told to make a list like that! (In fact my student logbook had that page printed over already, with currency requirements. ) Is it supposed to be part of the training: "start making a list of people you don't want to jump with" (based on their posts on DZ.com??) How many other people out there have these lists? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

agreed! first album a classic, and a lot of good stuff followed Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Talking of CATS, have you got your Cat 3 yet? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

NOT red, especially if the cutaway handle on that rig is also red. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

My Era...What do you remember that was so COOL from our era?
Orange1 replied to RkyMtnHigh's topic in The Bonfire
"we had joy we had fun we had seasons in the sun" John Travolta first time round (SNF/Grease pin-up) Star Wars first time round PINBALL! the beginning and, thankfully, end of disco the british post-punk music scene (ska, indie in the days indie really meant indie, etc) U2 when they were considered groundbreaking but not many people had heard of them (boy, october) someone's already said - walkman! You don't understand. He's a male, so he's invincible, so "risk" means nothing Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Would just like to maybe post something... a lot of the discussion so far is jumpers with a lot of jumps. I had a long chat to my CI after the previous long thread about 2-outs and came away pretty sobered. He strongly believes that there are things newer jumpers should not even be thinking about attempting. I know it's in the sticky, but again any low jump number guys reading this, PLEASE check with your instructors on what they think the appropriate procedures for you are in this situation. I'm assuming these are learning tandems, not fun rides. There is a dz.commer, an instructor, I can't remember who (was hoping he would chip in) who has stated that he thinks this kind of progression is best. Exit fear is minimized a bit on the first few jumps and you have someone right with you showing you canopy control. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
-
I had this (PC falling over the nose) happen 4 times out of 11 jumps on spring-loaded PC rigs, though I was told it is more common on lightly loaded canopies? (fwiw I had no issues with steering/control, even though the bridle wrapped around a line on one jump, though I was loaded about 0.5 and can see that it could be an issue on a small highly loaded canopy.) But even if it is more common and less of a problem on lightly loaded canopies, if it is an added risk factor why have it? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Yes, like most armies, they do. but as Bev said they may not be very helpful. I understand it is army policy not to release any individual's name and contact details without consent of that individual. Army home page http://www.dod.mil.za/index.htm i'm sure there will be an info email address somewhere on there Special forces stuff (but career info) on http://www.careers.mil.za/careers/uniformcareers/msdprogramme/images/sf.pdf There are a few DZs comprised of military members that are also members of PASA (sport parachuting) fyi the military guys usually clean up style and accuracy at nationals here. Guys can you please post the movie they're from? Cocheese, managed to get any more clarity yet? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Wish we had these prices again
Orange1 replied to upndownshop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
even some of us newbies have done static line just wondering about the "guaranteed" bit - i know some people who have done way more than the minimum before being allowed to freefall! btw presume that was in the days of chest mount reserves i.e, the fact that you could rent just a reserve? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -

What was "guaranteed freefall"? And presume "Passenger rides" was pax in the plane, not tandem? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
i'm still very new but... i think you'll find the reason you jump changes as you progress in the sport, as it moves from the "adrenaline rush" thing to learning new things and trying to master them Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

First 8 Man 'Link Up' In Europe in July 1970
Orange1 replied to Adriandavies's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Gold Pioneer twin zip jumpsuits with French Paraboots in early 70's - I'm thinking Golden Knights. But the post says Europe? In an unsuccessful Google search to find it, I did find out that the first ever 8-way was done in the US, in 1965 ... (and it wasn't GK ) sorry this is a bit of a hijack but this is very interesting reading: http://www.cs.fiu.edu/~esj/uwf/uwf6.htm Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun. -
Must be loads First one that springs to mind is "I fart in your general direction" from Holy Grail (but it must be said in the correct French accent) More? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
