Oh thank god. Thought I was the only one. 24-7 ops suck.

I doubt it. Nobody could be this lame on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. This sucks. It's 12:35am for crying out loud. Somebody tell me a joke or something. Thank god for dropzone.com!!!

I just dropped $30 at Whole Foods tonight on dinner ... curry chicken salad rocks!! In D.C., we call it "Whole Paycheck."

Beautiful post, Jennifer. Thanks.

Just a generic shrink/man on couch cartoon. I know I've seen a few of them in the Far Side books. Any one of them would work for me.

Anybody out there know where I can find one where there is a psychologist talking to a patient on the couch? I can see the cartoon in my head, but can't find it for the life of me. I need a decent sized .jpg Thanks!

You can do it in Windows Movie Maker if you have XP ... it should have come with XP, anyway. Otherwise, you probably need pro editing software ... unless somebody out there has a better idea ... ? Magoo

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah ... You should be fine, but I'll try and check for you on Monday ... I'll get into the system at work and check on your "contact" sheet. You criminal. Am I checking in Maryland, or somewhere else? Here's a confessional ... the only time I did not identify myself as a cop when pulled over for speeding, I got a ticket. It was on the way to the dropzone last year. I was running late for load one. Magoo

Ahhhhh, Nebraska. My alma mater.

You do know me ... so you tell me! (Aside from the fact that I lurk in the corners and shadows of dropzone.com and rarely post anything ...)

I had a few stitches near my right eye when my brother shoved me into a glass table when I was four ... ... and nine stitches on my heel in 2001 when I tried to close a door with my foot ... caught the corner of the metal door with my heel. Bizarre.

Yep. Just four hours ago, I was told to stand down by a schmuck at the Pentagon ... I was told to NOT get on the plane to Iraq ... becuase the job I was going to go do might bring up some "damaging" truth. God forbid. We sure wouldn't want any truth coming out of Iraq.

Garlic. Lots of fresh pressed, raw garlic. Put it in some soup and drink it down. Lots of vitamin C, too.

OK ... I've researched, read the threads, checked CNET, etc. I've done my research. But ... I'm still stumped ... I'm trying to determine which is the best camera for my roommate ... who is going back into video (he has almost 3,000 jumps) The PC 109, the PC 1000 or the HC42? Comments from those people using them in the field? Thanks! Erin

When I did my first tandem at Orange in October 2001, Waldo was my tandem master. He was a true professional. If I had not had such a great first-time experience, perhaps I would not have pressed on to get my license. I'll never forget that first jump, and I'll never forget how enthusiastic he was to take me on that first dive. Blue Skies, Tigger. Magoo

Air Force Reserve, Security Forces, 12 years, E-6. About to transition to either OSI as an "E" or to the Army as an "O" in Intelligence. Can't decide.

Liz, you rock. Will I start seeing you at the DZ during the week?! For me: 5. I got a new cell phone today. 4. Somebody saw my ad on cars.com and made me an offer today. 3. I didn't go to work today. 2. I'm drinking a beer right now. 1. I got my NEW car today! See ya at the Orange Boogie!

I'm kinda confused by your post, not 100% sure what you are trying to say but from what i can figure out this is my reply... Your first mistake was believing everything you read on the internet. There is a very recent post by the the god of all skygods that is bad information, but I can't get a moderator delete it, or move it and have the super skygod clarify. My suggestion is talking face to face with your instructors at your dropzone, they know you better than they do on here. Most everyone experiences fear no matter how many jumps they have and regardless of what the internet said. Judy If I may... ...not for one second do I (and I hope others) take for gospel what I read here. (Can you imagine this scenario at a DZ? ... "well, the guy on dropzone.com said it was okay!") It's discussion. And discussion raises questions. I've had more questions generated in my head by reading what are on these forums than I ever would have come up with on my own. That is to my benefit. I occasionally ask a question, but it's just that: a question. I'm not looking for an absolute answer. That's my instructors' job. Reading these forums is an invaluable tool. Taking what I've read back to my instructor is the key.

I do not have the experience that Tonto does or many, many others who post on this site. I chose to respond to a few sentences of your post. Only offering a canopy control course to those who own their own mains is a silly idea IMO. Even if you won't be jumping that gear for very long, the skills and knowledge that you gain from the course will help you regardless of which canopy you fly. And do they GIVE you the course or do you pay for it? Think about that too. If you are renting the gear, and paying for the course, why not?? I wish so badly that i had taken Brian Germain's course when it was offered at our dz, whenever i hear of another course in my state, i am going to do whatever i can to go because i feel that everyone should. Just my $.02 and if i get change back, i wouldn't be offended. Hmmmm......good point. I will be paying for it. What's the difference whether it's a 170 now or a 150 in the future, right? I'll bring that up at the DZ. Thanks.
-
I'm comfortable with this canopy right now (170). I'm renting it. I'd like to take a canopy control class, but they are only offering it to people with their own rigs and mains....the rationale being why give a class to somebody that won't be jumping that gear very long....and I can understand that. I've been standing up nearly all of the landings on the 170. I come in at a comfortable speed when there is no wind or very light wind. Yesterday, however, we had 10-12mph winds, and I came straight down. Set up my final in an appropriate place, and was about 100 yards short because I could get no forward speed. I think I'll stay with the 170 for awhile. I do trust the instructor that is telling me to downsize. He says I'm doing really well. The other instructor says he's just concerned about doing too much too fast. I listen to them both and respect them both. Just wanted to get some other opinion out there. I don't want to biff. Thanks for the resources!

Get a life. You are on here entirely too much.
-
.....is a .92 wingloading too much for somebody with only 41 jumps? I have a wingloading of .83 currently. My instructor suggested downsizing, though, since I have problems penetrating wind. Another instructor said no. ???

Uh oh, I feel a little quoting coming on...please finish the quote. "Your snot nose jockies do a fly by on my tower at over 400 knots. I want some bodies butt, I want it now............ ....I've had it! (crash)....Dammit! That's twice! I want some butts!!"
