    you might have to tell him to fight back. i was always taught to run away and not defend myself no matter what. even at home i would get in trouble for fighting back when my brothers beat me, and they were much bigger than me. this has not served me well in life. i've never known when to stand up for myself and when to let things slide. as a result, i usually stand up for myself at the wrong times or in the wrong ways. now i have two boys and a third on the way that i have to teach when and how to defend themselves. if he isn't interested in martial arts, maybe he can take some self defense classes. since he's going to be so big, some take-downs and holds could be very useful. that would allow him to physically control a situation without actually assaulting anyone.     to those that think uncurrent jumpers should no longer post here: get off your high horse. am i no longer cool enough to be a part of your little group? unfortunately i don't get to jump enough to stay current, so this is the way i can still be a part of the skydiving community that has become my family. some day my life will allow me to get to the dz more, but until then, this is what i have. i'm just glad that 4 out of 5 of you still welcome me. when i started jumping, that number would have been closer to 99 out of 100.     i have a hypothesis swirling in my head that i'm not sure how to put into clear words, but i'll give it a try. i think that people hate those that they have small differences with more that those they have nothing in common with. one example would be rivsal schools in the same town or two similar sects of the same religion. this is, i believe, why there has been so much conservative backlash against mccain. hopefully someone with a background in psycology or sociology can explain it better, as even though i've never heard the hypothesis before, i'm sure its not an original idea.     i agree that huck is taking votes from romney, but i kinda hope you're wrong about vp. not that huck would be the worst choice, but i would like to see a vp more towards the middle. i would like to see the republican party take a step away from the evangelical side of things, and i believe that even many republicans and independants would like to see that too. the far right has their panties in a wad because mccain doesn't vote strictly along party lines. mccain realizes that republicans aren't always right and dems aren't always wrong and that's what this country needs right now. i would love to see rudy for vp, but i don't think that will happen, although i would be very surprised if rudy wasn't given a position somewhere.     yesterday it was being reported that mccain instructed his delegates to go with huckabee. i didn't know this could even be done. mccain needed huck to get enough delegates to stay in the race, but now it doesn't look like it matters. as of now (6:50 wed morning) mccain has more delegates than huck and romney combined, but i don't know if the count is finished yet.     we've talked abour california before and they have some good things going on there, but to be over all effective, most or all states should enact similar legislation. it would be great if that would happen and then the feds wouldn't need to get involved, but this is one area where i wouldn't mind the gov stepping in to set up bounaries if need be. do you happen to know what states already have similar laws and what states are considering it? i'm also curious why these changes aren't talked about much in the media.     that's because it's too fucking cold to go out and kill something you can't drag home and eat. besides, have you ever been to canada? they are the nicest people in the world. something about their culture or genetics produces people who are easy to get along with. i think you could give them all guns and you wouldn't notice an increase in homocides.
