With high enough quantity, some quality is bound to find its way in. ;) - Steve

They compliment the leather and fire very well. I wish I was making this up. - Steve

I haven't done the ratio thing in awhile. It's sex:jumps:beer, right? - Steve

A good time to get your canopy relined is when you get a new girlfriend. - Macaulay

Look how pretty my site redesign is... oooohhh: http://www.djscifi.com I'm still working on it. The redesign of the portfolio, demogorgon, and links sections have yet to be redesigned/finished. If you have a high-speed connection, you should check it out. I haven't been on here much due to web work for myself and my clients. :( I met an awesome goth chick that dances with flaming sticks and chains and we're going out tomorrow (today, technically). WEEEEEEEE!!! Missed TWO weekends of jumping due to weather. I'll try to get 'em in during the week. This weekend = clouds. I need a job. - Macaulay

The serial number and date were probably written by the rigger that switched the Cypres out. Fucked up move, IMO. It happens all the time with computer, vehicle, and burrito repair. They do that at McDonald's, too. It shouldn't happen in rigging. - Macaulay

Jake = westcoastchica being a flatflyer. :) I'm all dressed up with somewhere to go. C-Ya, Macaulay

That's a truck, right? Sorry... not mechanically-minded. - Macaulay

Are those swoops at Otay? Do you jump there? I used to live about ten minutes from there. I only did about fifteen jumps there (plus a few when Buzz was at Brown), though, as Elsinore was my home DZ. - Macaulay

Five free jumps as soon as these clouds are gone. :) - Macaulay

Get a vRW big-way going or sumpin'. It is kinda weird to think that I won't be at Elsinore tomorrow... as that used to be the case pretty dang often. Me... I'll be at my new home DZ, beautiful Skydive Oregon, where my mom will be funding the jumps for the weekend. I've had my brother and sister in the sky (my bro went twice)... it just might be mom's turn to do a tandem. mwuHAHAHAAHA Hey, did Christiaan do the flyer? Is that his site? I didn't know he did the whole art thing. He's got that fat, tight, vector style. Good stuff. How's that guy doing? He seriously has to be one of the nicest people on the planet... stark contrast to yours truly. ;) - Macaulay

BASE = pfft IMO, that is. I bought a used BASE rig last year. I spent a long time learning what to do with it without paying for the education (just take a course... don't spend eight months figuring out how to half-ass it). I lived about ten minutes away from the Pine Valley bridge. 400+ ft. up and nowhere to land. I got ten flicks in out there (only two stand-up landings on the very uneven terrain), and then just wasn't wowed by it anymore. I was more into the idea of doing it than the BASE jumping itself. I sold the rig shortly thereafter (for twice what I paid). Some people give up skydiving for BASE. Then some, like myself, just aren't that impressed with it. I like speed... you get way more in skydiving. I get a better ground rush from bungee jumping. BASE jumping does have its advantages. It can be free. It was nice to get out to the bridge on a beautiful, sunny day and take in that mountain air. Of course, I had to hide by my brother's truck until no one was around, but I got that mountain air nonetheless. The idea of an "unassisted" jump is cool, too (no pilot, no manifest, etc.). Not that I have a problem with DZ operations at all, and I don't... it's just that there's something about being able to do it all completely on your own terms. That was my favorite thing about it. - Macaulay

Speaking of learning from a 182... when the GPS goes out, who here can confidently spot a full load of otter babies? - Macaulay

There was a door on your 182? ;) - Macaulay (first 19 jumps from a 30 year-old Cessna 182 with no door)

...when you work in skydiving (which I don't... yet). - Macaulay

I love the wind on my head. I jump without a helmet on solos (always wear one with others). I was thinking of getting a fullface for those times when it's freezing or when I don't feel like wearing goggles. - Macaulay

I was the same way. I've played through every FF game since number one on NES back in 1990. Using PC emulators, I played through pirated/translated versions of the Japanese games that were never released in the US. I played through every spinoff (Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Secret of Evermore, FF Tactics, Chocobo's Dungeon, etc.). I even played through all the Gameboy games. Needless to say, I feared disappointment. Coming from someone who is a total FF fanatic, you can trust me when I say that the movie will not let you down in the least. Like the FF games themselves, the film has little to do with its predecessors, but that shouldn't bother you at all. I met a couple FF purists when I went to see it, and we were all blown away by it. It followed the same story structure as the games, but was in a completely different environment. You'll love it. - Macaulay

I felt that the plot was actually very intense and intelligent. However, it was far more analytical than emotional. I also like how little was explained relative to the whole. That is, many aspects of the film, however abstract, were actually very logical, but were left up to the viewer to figure out. Although... most viewers wouldn't understand it all. I'm not really trying to compare it to other animation, but this was the same deal with 'Akira' and 'Ghost in the Shell'. Very advanced, intelligent films that put less emphasis on emotion. It's something that is seen in a few Japanese animated films that doesn't come up elsewhere too much (Final Fantasy was a Japanese/American production, but more Japanese). - Macaulay

I saw 'Final Fantasy' yesterday. It seriously left me speechless. I am VERY particular when it comes to films, and this one was just astonishing in every aspect. I will say nothing about it other than see it... right now. Something skydivers will find interesting about it is the method they used to fall from high places. These guys jump from a flying vehicle and a green gel is projected towards the ground just before they come into contact with it. The gel "breaks the fall" and then disintegrates. The whole movie is just pure genius. - Macaulay

'Brokedown Palace' was decent, but nowhere near what 'Return to Paradise' was. Different place, same premise. - Macaulay

I wasn't actually considering taking it. It's funny that someone mentioned the drop zone thing. This was my actual response to the e-mail: My fun way of telling the freak off. - Macaulay

I applied for a job that was described as a "web design position in a great location." Little did I know what I was in for. Here's what I received in response:

I still say PMSing (Poor Man's Skydiving) is the ultimate downtime activity. I love doing it with unsuspecting drivers. The best is when you get some friends together and really plan on doing it... jumpsuits, helmets, goggles, and altimeter for no reason. Basically, any passenger (we've done three-ways) rolls down the window and gets as much of themself out of the vehicle as they can, and the drivers keeps the speed up as high as possible (usually 100 - 130). I've got it where I can stand on the window sill with one leg and hold onto the oh-shit handle with one hand at 120 MPH. I usually just keep one entire leg inside... route it through the seat belt and hook a foot onto the dash or the seat in front of you. I've almost docked with a vehicle that didn't plan on participating, but that could have gone bad. Next time I;m in SD, some of us wanted to get to cars together, go out to the desert, and do some PMSRW. - Macaulay

Well, there's only one way to handle a girl like that... CUTAWAY, CUTAWAY! You do have a reserve, right? - Macaulay
