Vector 3M - V347 for a 150 main/160 reserve Hip rings Skyhook RSL Freefly pud handle Freefly mod Deluxe backpad Velcro-less toggles Low profile D ring reserve handle Mini rings and 21" risers Riser housings Also ordered a PDR160R It was between a Mirage and a Vector 3. My friend put me in contact with Marc Procos, RW's Sales and Marketing Director. He spent a lot of time on the phone with me explaining options and going into detail about the skyhook and it's pros and cons. That conversation pretty much closed the deal for me. TWA 800

The government can cover up whatever the hell it wants. My bet is Al Quaida shot the thing down with a Stinger missle...and we covered it up. Why? To save an already failing industry that we subsidize the shit out of with taxpayer dollars. And because it would be a nightmare explaing how a Stinger missle we supplied the Taliban made it into Long Island Sound and downed an airliner. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  6. Hmm- fuel costs are higher - making flying more expensive, as well as everything else taxes are higher - making everything more expensive insurance costs are higher - making everything more expensive labor costs are higher - making everything more expensive Doesn't take an economist to figure this out. I was going to say you should just BASE jump, but the cost of food has risen - and in climbing a cliff you will increase your caloric expenditure, thereby requiring a higher amount of higher priced food, which would obviously be unacceptable to you. 7. While studying for my B/C exams, I found a statement about RSL's that confuses me. The SIM (5-3-F-2-c) states - "RSL's can complicate certain emergency procedures: (1) cutaway following dual deployment" If you already have two canopies out, how does the RSL complicate cutting one away? 8. Thanks for the responses. The article from The Ranch that Tom linked to actually answered a lot of my questions...basically told me to focus on the unique B license attributes...ie opening altitudes, landing field clearances etc. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  11. I think that you are a skydiver when OTHER skydivers recognize and/or acknowledge your commitment to and respect for the sport and all it entails. If you are a moron or DGIT - regardless of your jump numbers - your peers will view you as a moron, not a skydiver. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  12. Is there some kind of online study guide for B, C or D licenses? I have the SIM and have looked over the sections they say are relevant to the exams, but I wondered if some computer loving instructor or whatnot had put together some sample questions so I know better what to expect. How many questions are on the B or C license exams? Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  13. Are skyhooks now common enough that most riggers are familiar with them for repacks? Or is it a challenge to find a rigger familiar with the system? Thanks Edit: And yes, I did a SEARCH for this topic Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  14. Nice thread JP...what gave you the inspiration? How about if the rig has a Skyhook? I would "think" that a rigger employed by the sole manufacturer of the skyhook has packed 100's more skyhook equipped reserves than any other rigger in the country... I would also "think" that a rigger working for a manufacturer would best know how to pack and load a reserve tray for their particular model that would allow for riser covers to close right, etc. This is just how I would "think" it works...obviously JP's "real world" experience means more than my mental deduction though. And I can definately see the arguement for the unbiased, unaffiliated second check of stitching etc. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  15. Um, so who's left? You just described 99% of the community. Skydiving is obviously most attractive the Type A personalities and Alpha Males/Females. With them often come many of the traits you have explained. If someone wasn't bullheaded, stubborn, massively independent, overly confident or something along those lines, they would listen to all the whuffos and not be skydiving in the first place. Not saying it's right or a good thing for safety, but it is to be expected. As I look at your list though, I could see those dynamics coming into play with ANY group of people...including a seniors gardening club. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  18. I've made a terminal jump with them around my neck. I was surprised at how minor of an issue it was. Not that I would do terminals on purpose sans goggles...but it isn't/wasn't that big of a problem for me. I've had loose goggles "leak" causing my eyes to tear and making that lense basically translucent...this was a worse problem for me than jumping with no goggles. It would suck to take a bug in the eye at terminal, but I'm not sure how high AGL bugs really hang out. It would also suck to have the wind blow some dust or sand in your eyes while at 100 foot on final. This sand reason is why I wear my goggles even on hop and pops. 20. It's even more important to have figured out what to do if you are almost dead or should be dead. It's important to have a patient directive filled out and on file with your primary care physician as well as your attorney. Basically states: 1. Who will be responsible for making decisions for you if you are incapacitated. 2. What measures or steps do you want taken to extend your life. 3. Donor info. I put that I didn't want to be kept alive on machines and stuff. I also made my Dad the one responsible, not my Mom...kinda takes the burden off her, plus I KNOW Dad will follow my wishes. I also added that I would prefer not to have an autopsy if possible...if they can harvest my heart or kidney to save someones life cool, but I don't want to be chopped up for any other reason. 21. Can someone tell me the difference between the Voodoo and Talon FS? I saw today RI finally had the FS page up on their site. It says the Talon FS has the Voodoo harness, and Voodoo reserve tray, with "an improved box for the main"? Not quite sure what this means. Is this an improved Voodoo? Or an improved Talon? Also has a "cut in back strap"? Again, not quite sure what this means. Will some gear head toss some knowledge my direction please. Thanks Edit: I corrected my spelling Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
