My fav (outta our C182) is climbing out onto the step, get your arms out as far as possible on the strut (to clear the gear when you fall), then with your feet still on the step, swing/kick forward and keep your legs straight, bending only at the hips at 90 degrees. The relative wind pushes your legs up so your feet are pressing the bottom of the leading edge of the wing. I like to hang on with 1 arm and give a sign of some sort to the pilot then let go and watch the plane fall away. Edit: jgaley69, how do you hang with only your feet? I always fall... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

When I 1st saw it on TV when I was 12 I really wanted to do it. At 16 I was told by the local dz I needed to be 18, so 2 years later I made my first jump. I knew that whole time I was going to love it... and it was even better then I thought it would be!! I don't know how or why I knew... I just did. Why do I jump? For fun. Nothing beats bombing out that door!! It doesn't hurt things that the sport looks cool tho. Better then loving and having fun at something that people think sucks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

good ole C-182. Wasn't until I was licensed that I started jumping Otters and Porters ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

lol!!! They're after the bling them hoes Oh oh, and my favorite! lol!! Sound a little needy!? Maybe someone who can have a stable job with some bling and if the woman asks for some, won't say no.... The article is good for a laugh anyway!! And for the record, I myself am a nerd, but know enough about women that they don't like needy wussbags. Unless of course they want something... Or not very good looking and will take what they can get. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Any psychologists/counselors/psych majors here?
hemphog replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
I was a bio guy until I got sucked up by psyc. I'm in my 5th year as an undergrad and I love to learn how people work mentally and what the connection it is to the actual mechanics in the brain. I love seeing what actually causes schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, all types of drugs or addictions (skydiving!?) and just everything weird that people do. It's an awesome subject but my advice to you would be this. A lot of people are interested in psyc and take it in school, only to find they can't get much of a job with it. You will probably have to specialize in a topic, meaning grad school, even onto a doctorate or post-doc. Don't follow a traditional route, find what it is that REALLY turns you on and learn everything you can about it. Work isn't work when you really enjoy what you're doing. Good luck with it all!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!" -
You know you can report it and all that jazz but what will get done about it is minor. This is one of those cases where you get a buddy to keep six, smash the window, slice the tires, piss on their seat and walk away with the dog... and their change tray. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Is it just me or are there more people like that in this sport then in others? Sometimes I'll do some simple shit, but only if it's been a *calculated* risk and I'm happy with it. But I never rag out the peeps who take er easy. Besides, I need them to attach my beer to my helmet after I break my arms. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Enjoy the jump dude!! Start putting everything you own up for sale. Soon it will be "I can't buy that, it costs 2 jumps!" Once it's got you, there's no turning back... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Fock em all. If you don't like it, chop it. If you think you can land it. do it. Whatever feels right. I've seen people land with blown out cells, broken lines, and *double* step throughs. I've also seen people chop from lines twists. When decision time comes, you do what your gut tells you. If you mess up you're the one who pays. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

If you can take it. DO IT!!! It's an amazing course no matter what your level is. And Brian will teach whatever you want for however long you want. He loves it. It's in his blood. And know where he's sleeping, in case you need to wake him an hour after the course was supposed to start ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

what kind of seating do you prefer?
hemphog replied to kingbunky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Any room will do! I always end up crosslegged in the back of our 182 cause some big focker sits behind me. bunky.... Straddle is easier to see out the window, but I'm lazy and like to lean back. And like Phree said, you can't move em outta the way. Given the choice, side benches. No rig on your boys and you can fold em up if you want em outta your way. And it clears a path for the 'tits for tude'ers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!" -
RW suits make a big difference. I used to fall slow, and so arched like a mofo to keep up with the big guys (and just... even with weights). I got a tighter RW suit, and now fall too fast.... Have to learn now to flatten out more and not fold in half... You can get bits of webbing sown into the armpits of RW suits to help slow you down a little if it's a real problem. Try jumping with someone that falls at an "average" speed and spend the entire jump keeping your face in theirs without them doing anything. Then get a feel for the position your in. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Isn't the PAC meant to step up from Cessna's and compete with King Airs, Porters? Otter's still beat it out but if you can't afford an Otter (ie, keep it running with loads of jumpers), would a PAC XL be the best route to go? Or would another plane be better? Anyone know anything about the strength of the PAC's tail? How would it stand up to a jumper impact or hanging premature? Or has this one yet to be tested?.... I know a birdboy hit a tail, but only tore the wing between his legs. Any other known impacts? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Happen's everywhere. I stopped caring about all that crap a long time ago. It's as simple as a black guy having a gene that codes for more melanin production when white people do. Nothing more nothing less. Hell, maybe the reason we are all here is due to a few key "excitement" genes too.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

I wasn't sending any bad vibes your way bro, it just makes more sense to me now. When I was jumping in Switzerland and dumped (threw PC) at 2700' they were all "dude, don't suck it down so low!"... and I was just pulling at my usual height. I didn't know the same was with the US too. Guess CSPA is a little slacker on the alti's maybe? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

That's USPA reg's? Up north we just have to pitch the PC by 2500' if Solo (Canadian solo ~= USPA A) or 2200' if A (~= USPA B). Hell, the first time I pitched my own PC (1st freefall, 5th jump) I was put out of our Cessna at 3000'.. and had a hard pull! My hat goes off to the jumper for not bailin if they weren't feelin it. If it don't feel right, walk away... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

At the price of the hard housings to have added, and the potential benefit, is there any reason not to convert your rig to ensure an easier cutaway? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

I've jumped uppers around -10C or more. It's near freezing at ground level. Any exposed skin... well... isn't a real good idea. Your camera should survive the trip but beware condensation on the lense if it's a humid/moist day by opening time. I've seen cameras survive full nights of -15C in car trunks... after they warmed up alittle. It's only the actual temp on the camera that has any effect (wind does nothing to it, only your skin). And wear a sweater under your jumpsuit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

If everyone would just have a toke and crack a beer, even the tight ones would loosen up. Another reason to keep the woodpile stocked ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Depends what you're talkin There is a good number of peeps that smoke here north of the border too... which I can never understand cause at the price of a pack here ($10) I see people smoke away a jump a weekend ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"

Sorting Classifieds by Price/Country/Subject
hemphog replied to hemphog's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Could it be set up so the Price, Country, and Subject titles in the table be hyperlinks that would sort the listings? Much like you would sort for filename or filetype in your windows explorer? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!" -
Ok, so I'm about to get into jumping zero-p canopies. I was reading up on the differences and found they each have their own way to deal with turbulence, but I can't understand why this is. CSPA Reccomendations in Turbulence: F111 - Go to 1/4 brakes ZP - Go to full speed It makes sense to go to full speed under a ZP so to fill the canopy with as much air as possible to maintain lift, but why slow down an F111? What would be happening there? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Ya we'll rape the local objects, and maybe do some jumps too!"
