Have you ever met anyone who believes in the 2012 end of the world
tharv17 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
My savings account reflects a belief that the world will end in 2012. Possibly October/November of 2011. -

I went to the wanee music festival down in florida this spring. was an awesome time. first allman bros show as well as trucks and tedeschi. I dont know if Galactic qualifies as a jam band but they get everyone up and moving and are quite a sight to see live. Catching them here in NY later in june.

I went to all three nights in Bethel. One night at PNC in nj. Missing this weekend in camden and merriweather though. Live streamed some of the ohio shows. Got Superball tix for Watkins Glen. May or may not be on a wiffleball team for that as well. Been a great summer so far and its only june.

I never made it to Bonnaroo heard it was a blast though. Going to a few Phish shows this summer, Bethel and Watkins Glen. Cannot wait! NYE at MSG last year was unreal.

Phish show.

The 24/7 HBO Pens-Caps series has been tremendous. Mostly because when both teams have played the Rangers the blueshirts have smoked them.

Came across this and figured some of the aviation enthusiasts might enjoy the read. http://www.merkle.com/pluto/pluto.html

Had the exact same conversation.

This is pretty good http://jalopnik.com/5674537/this-craigslist-ad-is-actually-commentary-on-modern-existence

Lots of good suggestions. I would strongly second Neal Stephenson and add Cryptonomicon to the list. Also George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series is terrific. I have read all the books that are out about five times and I keep finding new things. They are adapting it into a series on HBO.

airliners.net has some pretty active forums. Can hear about aviation news on there a day or two before the larger media world gets wind.

Agreed. Great flick good acting, cool story, and just well shot and nice to watch. Also extremely glad Nolan did not hop on the 3D bandwagon.

I heard the same story this morning. Interesting that they said companies are pushing body wash more because its cheaper to produce and easier to market creating a perception that its better for you etc. I am suing axe body wash because no random woman/women have jumped my bones in an elevator.

You should check out Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan. Its like a Raymond Chandler novel only set in the future. A future where you can be downloaded into different bodies. There is a crime, an anti-hero is summoned, hijinx ensue. Fun read. -
Isn't it the Kaptain? I would look through the thread to confirm but that would make me not get any work done. Either way lets hear some more!

http://www.slate.com/id/2249547/ This guy wrote a book about going around the world without flying. The volcano eruption seems to have been a bit of a boon for his book sales.

The closest I have gotten is the A-12 that sits on the deck of the USS Intrepid. I figure if I get the angle just right to block out the carrier deck and city, blast some engine noise recording into my ears while strapped to the launch catapult, I might be able to sort of pretend to know what its like to see one in the air for the few seconds before I get flung off the bow.

http://gizmodo.com/5511236/the-thrill-of-flying-the-sr+71-blackbird Unreal aircraft and a great story. I was always amazed at how fuel would leak out of the joints in the plane because it stretches so much during flight.
