I didn't get to be the one to actually "save your life"... But I was one of the first ones there, and when you moved a little and I saw your canopy start to slip, I couldn't bare the thought of seeing you go down like that. I ran to get the only rope I knew was available and tried my best to help secure you until the climbers got there. I was about to sh!t in my pants. So I can only immagine what you were going through. Just glad everything turned out for the best, under the circumstances... Just shows that we are a self supportive, unique group of individuals. It's almost like war. We are the ones to help save each others lives. Don't know that if this is the last time we will ever see each other. Living life on a tightrope, and loving every last second of it. So I was down at "the Tomb" and the wind was not agreeing with us. "Damn", what to do now. So Sam, Sparky and a few guys say, "lets go to Walshmens and hang out.." I am thinking cool, no jumping, but that will be cool. I walk over there, and low and behold. The jumping shall commence... But with ropes. WOW!!! Couldn't believe what I was witnessing. I was just happy to watch something so amazing, muchless get to participate myself. I couldn't believe I actually tryed to pitch my PC on exit. hahaha!! the ground rush was so amazing!! Found my new addiction. Thankyou to Matt, Nic, and Kevin for being so generous, and sharing your system with some winded out jumpers. You made my day/year!!! Yeah, I couldn't believe he pulled out of that one. The exit point was the "crown." In my opinion, bad body position resulted in the 180. He flew the shit out of that ACE after the strike though. I have the footage of the strike, and if he hadn't reacted the way that he did, I don't believe it would have been very good. On the Martin incident, he is about 61 years old, just got into BASE or has few jumps, told me personally that he didn't have the strength to pull on his rears. So he goes to his toggles no matter what. He also hadn't made a jump in 6 months. All of this put together equals insanity. I felt very sorry for him though. He had to wait at the bottom of Mary's Gash for 2 hours waiting on that chopper. Plus he drove from out of state, so he will have that to deal with too. He is a really nice guy participating in an unforgiving sport. I don't think he will ever completely recover from this incident. Yeah, I couldn't believe I got to witness all three strikes. I actually got to help with some of the rescue of Maggot too. Never thought I would be a part of something like that. Had a blast at the bridge/Moab though! On the wall strikes, let's just be glad that no one was killed. It did ruin a could have been great day of jumping. How is the wind directed when you jump? Tail wind? If you are jumping in a crosswind due to the landing, area and guy wires, you can catch some you can get some unstability that way.. Winters on the verge, and with winter, comes wind. Be safe. Focus. Congrats on your first!!! You do know that what you're getting into is so much more addictive than skydiving. Not to mention how much more dangerous. Yeah I am with you on the two Rigs.. I have two and always seem to want to do back to back loads. I have done all slider down, not off. I have had no problem in correcting an offheading opening do to my slider. I would have to say change the toggles out for each configuration.
