I talked to a couple of the perpetrators. They claimed they were teaching the person a lesson (not to leave gear out overnight.) But my point was that there are better ways to make that point. I.E. pack the parachute as if you were going to jump it place it on the gear rack & do not tell the owner who packed it. Then they will have to unpack before re-packing. I agree with you. It was poor judgment by a group of people who thought they were being funny. Why these days is it not ok to leave your gear overnight? And if we do, why should we be taught a lesson. I know there are thieving pricks out there etc etc etc But, isn't it up to the DZO to determine if gear should be packed up overnight rather than some individuals.
