It's nice that you read the first paragraph and not the second. DZ.com really needs a sarcastic button/font type.

The problem with tetrahedrons are that they are big and take a lot of wind to move them. I would suggest coming up with either a motorized tetrahedron or maybe one made of a grid of lights that would display an arrow and make it all electronic controlled by a small anemometer. That way all the noobs can set up their landing direction to land into the wind when there is a 0.25 knot wind blowing.

That is all good information - however useless to the OP. To rephrase the question and use your data: Given a wing loading of 1.15:1, what is the forward speed increase when the skydiver increases his/her wing loading to 1.21:1? This is on the same canopy, same wind conditions, same altitude (MSL), same approach style, maybe 30 minutes later in time, same square footage of surface area of skydiver, same suit, same helmet, same lines on the canopy, same style collapsing the slider, same pilot chute, exact same location of loosened chest strap, etc, etc, etc. Oh ya, I have no clue so I can't answer it.

Tax penalty to hit nearly 6M uninsured people
CygnusX-1 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
It is amazing how some people look at statements through colored lenses. The statement does not say anything about it being the main cause. They are saying that it is one potential cause. But that is ok, you can look at my statements and come to the conclusion that I think that the main cause of our high costs are due to all the extraterrestrial beings using up our health care. They don't pay taxes. They don't contribute to our society. All they do is come to our planet and utilize our health care then leave. -
Which is why I say - get more jumps first.

That is the problem with you people. If Mitt paid at the same rate I do, the extra revenue could be used to pay off the national debt!

I will if I can. What I don't know is if I can demo them with the camera mount - because that is what matters to me. My A3 fits just fine, but when you put the camera on that is when I notice an issue. I was hoping that someone would say either they have had issues with a certain one or not. Like you did about head down - which isn't an issue for me since I don't FF.

Hey, I'm willing to trade sexual favors to the right woman for a helmet. What more would you want. Should have been object.

If you live in south Florida, I say neither. Go do AFF at the DZ you are going to be jumping after training. Second option would be Sebastian only because it probably will be closer to you. But if you don't mind traveling... Third option is what do you want to get out of skydiving? Are you slightly more inclined to do freeflying (Sebastian) or RW (DeLand) or Wingsuit (Z-hills [because of Tony]). Fourth option, I say go to DeLand. Only because I jump there and know the instructors and I don't know them anywhere else.

Anyone on here fly either the G3 or REvolve with a camera? I absolutely HATE open face helmets so I am only looking for full face. Money for me is not an option. Right now I have my contour attached to my Oxygen A3, but the wind causes the helmet to move. This of course makes the video shaky. I'm just wondering if either of these two helmets are better in that regard. Or is there a better full face helmet you would suggest. It would be so nice if someone made a dedicated full face camera helmet which you could add site rings, etc to.

The problem is you all are not voting for (or against) a president. You don't elect a president. That is the job of the Electoral College. Now abolish that and go with a purely popular vote (across all states) and I will vote. However, I really think that all elections should have a check box for "None of the Above".

If I'm buying used I never go over 50% of the new price. That is unless the item is less than 6 month old.

Have you tried to call skyride to cancel your reservation and/or get your money back? Did you pay by credit card? If yes to both and you don't feel comfortable, you could always call your credit card company and dispute the charge. You have to try and get your money back from skyride first though (try to get documentation). Chances are the credit card company will just pull the money back from skyride and you will own nothing. But there is that slight chance that they will side against you and recharge you. That is where the documentation helps. This is one of the benefits of putting things on a credit card.

Visiting a new drop zone, safety?
CygnusX-1 replied to shah269's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If he points his ass towards manifest, isn't he walking away from the DZ? I think you meant to say "Follow your d*ck to manifest and get your jump on." -
That is the key. It seems this thread was started with respect to too many people with mad skillz who want to jump canopies that they can't control and need that big open landing area. The only forgiveness are for 1) people landing under a reserve 2) students and 3) people who are demoing a new canopy. Any other "emergency" doesn't matter because you are landing your canopy which you are familiar with and should be able to control. Since I didn't see anyone post a location for this, the last possible reason is if there literally no other outs - meaning this farm is an island in a lake (surrounded by a large body of water), complete tree coverage where there are no open roads, back yards, parking lots, etc. around.

200 years of oil and we hear squat from Barry
CygnusX-1 replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
Bill, Haven't you heard that the sun will eventually go super-nova and burn out? Then what good will your precious solar panels be good for... -
I believe that there is no proper position. Just like with everything else, you ask 10 people, you will get 8 different answers. I personally catch the risers. Other people will tell you don't do this because you can get fingers caught or whatever. But I'm willing to accept that risk. I do it because I believe that it (for me) eliminates any chance for line twists. I keep the risers apart so I get turned with the canopy. No chance for the canopy to twist faster than me and spin up the lines. Your build/canopy choice/experience will be different than mine so it may not work for you, but it has worked for me.

What? You mean the FAA does not govern over the entire world.

Is a tandem really a $440 value?
CygnusX-1 replied to skymama's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Mama, have you been living under a rock again? This is no different than the info-commercials where you can buy $440 worth of steak knives for the low, low price of $29.99! But wait, there's more. Order in the next 15 minutes and you receive an official t-shirt and Swag Bag for free. -
What's the most you'd pay for an AAD (if you have one)
CygnusX-1 replied to jrjny's topic in Gear and Rigging
That would be under the thread titled "What's the least you'd pay for an AAD (if you have one)" -
Mods Please lock this thread. I'm tired of reading threads about people bitching about people asking to have threads locked.

I think that is a very valid distinction. Just because the cutter fires inside a plane does not guarantee that the plane will be damaged and fall out of the sky killing everyone aboard. That is one possible outcome, but does not happen all the time. But having a cutter not cut the loop - or worse yet trap the loop such that a normal pull doesn't open the reserve, does (for all practical purposes) mean death.

You mean like this? That is an actual photo, btw. Listen to davelepka, he is exactly correct. You want to make sure you have a canopy that you will be keeping for a long time. And resale value will be nothing so don't expect anything back for the amount you pay for the design.
