  1. I scanned the first three real quick if you still need them, but they're too big to post here. Let me know if you want me to email or PM them.
  2. A box of 'bounce' on ebay.....seems like you could get it for less than 4 bucks at a store though....
  3. Cool thanks for the tip. I did do that when I unpacked my main, otherwise I wouldn't have thought about that.
  4. Thanks for all the replies guys! I'll put them in something and store them in the closet for the winter. It was definitely interesting to see how much different the deployment system is for the reserve, especially when my PC flew across the room and hit the wall! I'm glad to see it looks like it is designed to open!
  5. Right, it is definitely foreign to me so I'll probably end up just putting it in a bag until Spring. I can just see myself trying to get the canopy into that freebag! Would it be better to leave the main unpacked to or does it make any difference? Thanks for the reply.
  6. Well skydiving is pretty much over for the winter here in Ohio until next spring and curiousity got the best of me. Since my reserve is out of date in a few weeks and I knew I wouldn't be jumping again before then I opened my reserve. I'd never seen it before (just told what was in it) and I'd never seen a reserve container open before so I wanted to see my canopy and how the reserve system worked. Now that it's opened though, should I leave it unpacked until next March during safety day when I get my repack done? I know I can't officially pack it but it would save space if it was packed. Would it be better to leave the canopy (and my main for that matter) unpacked all winter or should I try to pack the reserve until March? (Obviously putting a big note DO NOT JUMP! or not closing the container) I can barely get my main in the bag though, let alone the reserve freebag with a grommet right in the center! I guess my question is, what would be the best way to store my rig until next March when I have my repack done? Thanks for any advice!
  7. From what I understand, in the US you get a new # with each new license. I could obviously be wrong though.
  8. I got my license today! I am the 48,022nd person to get an A license!
  9. nice, never thought of that....the easy solutions are usually the hardest to think of though....
  10. Hey thanks for the reply....If I set it to skip existing it wouldn't add jump 30 (jump 29 in neptune) since it was already in paralog. So I ended up setting the neptunes total jumps up by 1, then uploaded it and paralog is all correct. Neptune's log is 1 jump off now for the earlier jumps but oh well, I wanted them on the computer for saving. Thanks again.
  11. If anyone has some experience with neptunes & paralog I have a question. I had 28 jumps on my neptune, all uploaded to paralog already. Then on jump 29 I didnt have my neptune with me. I added the jump manually in paralog, but now obviously the next jump on my neptune is 29. If I go in and change total jumps in the neptune it moves all of my jumps ahead one number. Should I delete the manually added one in paralog, then readd it and adjust the numbers and then delete my neptune logbook? Im trying to find the easiest way to do this without losing and data. THanks for any help
  12. This was the thread I was looking for! I graduated on Monday with my A and had a talk with the DZO about what now.....Up until now Ive had an assigned instructor, an assigned diveflow, etc. Now I really don't know any of the experienced jumpers, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do either. I'm just happy I got my license this year as it was a goal I set out to do. So now I will just kind of go with the flow I guess! Congrats on your A!!
  13. Hey everyone check out http://www.aerohio.com/graduates.html!!! (Im the last one on there now) I have to work on packing to make it official, but I graduated!! Im so excited can you tell?
  14. That reminds me of a quote I heard once, not sure where... The only difference between fear and respect is knowlegde.
  15. Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
  16. Hey, Thanks for the congrats everyone! At our dropzone the jumps after AFF until your A are structured pretty much like the AFF jumps with a dive flow and learning objectives. We can jump with a coach instead of an instructor though. My first jump off AFF was tracking, then the next two were forward motion to docking. The next two I will do are fall rate jumps. I think after level 20 they have it set up to where you can do solo jumps or coach jumps of your choice depending on where you are on your progression card to get things finished up. I like the way they have it set up because I doubt Id learn a tenth of what Im learning now if I just jumped by myself. As for the beer, I have seen the beer come out after the last load is down...
  17. I have this file that has pics of different canopy malfunctions, someone on here posted it at one point, I can't remember who. There's no pilot chute in tow pic though...Its over 1mb so it won't upload here so if anyone wants it PM me.
  18. Thanks for the replies everyone! Im hoping to go up tomorrow to do my first jump off student status which is all tracking!
  19. Well after repeating level 2 a few times due to currency, then levels 4&5 a few times due to a slow spin I couldn't stop, I finally passed level 5 last weekend. Yesterday I went up to try level 6, thinking I would probably have to repeat it but got it the first try! The backflips were awesome. I didnt get all the way around on my first and the second I kind of rolled off to the side but my instructor said I got unstable and regained stabilty and that was good enough for him. I also had a great straight on heading track which was incredible. After passing 6 in one shot I decided to try 7. Diving exit was different and kind of threw me and I dearched and flipped over but again regained stability. Barrel roll was good, but front flip I didnt get all the way over but again I got OKd for going unstable then regaining control. 360s were fine and again tracking was fine and on heading. I love tracking! Im looking forward to level 8 which is all tracking! I landed this and the last jump with no radio and graduated AFF! I also started learning to pack yesterday (actually just watched for awhile), that's going to take awhile to learn.... It was a great feeling having no instructor touch me from exit to landing, getting unstable and regaining stability myself, and landing and flaring on my own. Im still really excited. I also learned since I have 14 jumps now that I dont necessarily have to do all the levels. I can just keep going through the levels until I have my 25 jumps then try my check dive. It was suggested I then continue the rest of the levels for practice after I get my A. That made me happy learning all my repeated levels actually didnt hurt me that bad (only cost 139 instead of 89). Anyway my goal of getting my A this year is actually looking a little better! Sorry this is so long but Im still excited and long winded about it!
  20. Thanks for the great advice Tom. I agree that at my experience level, Im just going to know that I threw my pilot chute and Im not feeling the normal opening shock and I'll know something is wrong. I'm sure I'll be very nervous my first malfunction and it will probably be hard for me to tell if I have a pilot chute in tow or a baglock or a container lock. Until it happens I guess I won't know. I've pretty much decided for now if something goes wrong and I'm above 1000' then I'll pull red first, then silver.
  21. Well the question came up about whether or not to cutaway a pilot chute in tow, but like I said I wasn't picturing a pilot chute in tow mentally, but a baglock, so I was trying to apply the question of whether to cutaway to that malfunction and wondering why you would or wouldn't cutaway. I undertand the difference and the terminology now, and as Tom said it was a lot of info in the FJC and in my first FJC I had no jumps and my second refresher I only had 2 so now that I have some jumps in Ive been trying to undertand more of how and why stuff works. Sorry again for the dumb question and confusion.
  22. Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. Sorry for making this confusing by using the wrong terminology. Thanks for the replies everyone!
  23. Ok.....Thanks for all the great replies guys. I guess when I was saying pilot chute in tow, I was picturing a baglock, so Im sorry for using the wrong terminology. I understand since the pin is still holding the container shut in a pilot chute in tow the lines never stretch and pull the risers. I guess I was wondering if I cutaway a baglock would there be enough drag to pull the risers off if there isnt enough to open the bag, which I guess the answer is maybe. Thanks again for the replies guys
