Who thinks that future air shows should be canceled while this fuel issue is going on. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't us tax payers pay for the fuel used in showing off our aircraft? I agree with this as well as some other reasons. It's been 1 year this month since I last jumped and I still have 2 rigs in my closet. I will get back into it but don't know when. The people made it for me and that's in the past. I remember when we used to "love" to give back AT NO CHARGE, just to help someone get better at what they were doing. Now it's turned so commercial and no one "hangs out" at the bonfire or bar anymore to talk about the days events or just shoot the shit with folks. It's sad. We can't walk on to the airport and get on loads with our friends any more, it has to be "planned". Kind of takes the fun out of it. I still miss the air and freedom of skydiving but finances and the above don't encourage me too much right now. I don't want to go through home owners ins because the amount I'd have to pay down would cost me $500+ and they probably would increase it. There was an accident outside my house a few weeks ago with the drunk driver hitting a tree at my next door neighbors house, flying upside down and into one of my trees (knocking it down from the roots) and the car landing between my neighbors yard and mine. If it hadn't been for my 30 year old tree, the car would have come sliding into my bedroom wall. My tree is gone and now there is nothing there to keep some other fool from crashing into my house. It looks like he's 24 with no insurance. What would you do? I'm thinking about putting in a cement post to keep the next guy out but how am I to collect for whatever I put there, clean up etc? I don't have actual bills for anything yet to take him to small claims court. Would you just drop it or sue for damages? He was one hell of a guy. He was my only rigger for 16 years. I didn't trust anyone else. He could be a pain in the butt but he knew his shit and then some. From the sound of it, you might not have enough padding on the RIGHT side of the helmet. The right side needs more than the left because it sticks out further. Also, on the one you retro fitted, did you sand some more of the bone in between the notches so the hinge can slip through? My name is Linda and I work for Bonehead. Call me so we can discuss it. Al has been diagnosed with Leukemia and just started undergoing chemotherapy today. He has been my sole rigger for 16 years and I love him dearly. Please say a prayer for him. He is at the Riverside Hospital Room C4039 and will accept calls later in the week. He doesn't want any until at least Thursday because of the treatments but would love to hear from all who have known him over the years. PM me for number.
