  1. i know base doesnt use a d bag. i figured you would have to set something up to "static line" off the object. follow ? yeah. i like the tape idea. would want to see someone else do it before i was lookin at the deck from the exit point with my bridle taped with masking tape to a pole on the top of a tower. ha -e Dont die!
  2. makes sense. but once again, its just my mind running laps Dont die!
  3. say two guys want to do a low jump from just for time being, a bridge. there are only two jumpers, and the bridge is not high enough for a go and throw therefore being BOTH jumpers with need a PCA. the first jumper can go PCA'ed by the second jumper, but the second jumper will need assistance from something other than a person. how is this set up? or, how is it set up if you dont want to leave gear, equipment behind? -e Dont die!
  4. I have heard of people doing a self assisted PCA from objects, but have never gotten the full scoop on how to actually do it. does anyone know how to pull this one off? -e Dont die!
  5. BASE jumping is better than FREEBASE'ING! So. yeah. Dont die!
  6. this is pretty odd. a friend of mine has been seriously questioning the idea of building a tower, specifically for base jumpers. selling the house and living by a legal tower. sounds like a good deal to me... i just wouldnt want to climb that ladder everyday. -e Dont die!
  7. eeh, its like whatever i post on the base board i get shunned upon. all i heard is that it was a big huge cliff somewhere in mexico. what i didnt hear, until now, that it is a very technically difficult jump and any injuries would be very very bad. so no disrespect to anyone related to the boogie. the big wall in norway is something that i am quite interested in pursuing. the base club there (so i hear) requires only 250 skydives, not sure about base jumps. but i would love to make my way out there sometime later this summer giving that i fullfill all my skydiving requirements. when the time comes and i have met all the pre reqs to go on the trip i am more than willing to lay down the money. money really isnt an issue with me, i just want to have a good time. and i dont want to die in the process. everyone has been nothing but helpful and cautiosly peering over my shoulders to make sure i dont get into anything too serious too quick, and i appreciate that. edit for site name ~TA Dont die!
  8. i will have to check out the go karts. ... i checked out the boogie website about the el gigante boogie. on the site it says you need 100+ BASE jumps. bah. bummer, dont have 100 base jumps. someday soon i will. and then i will have to get in gear and go down with the boys... but in the meantime, does anyone want to take a trip for a few days down there to check it out ? seriously. like june sometime. i'm in. all in. 9. besides jumping. i know everyone is going to be there. but...my curiousity brings me to wonder, who hosts the parties? oh and one other thing, does anyone know who organizes the "big wall helicopter boogie" in mexico? i am really interested in heading down there to check out that cliff. anyhow. -the e edit for site name ~TA Dont die!
  10. is it weird that i can fly better when i am wearing shorts and a t shirt? when i have freefly pants, or a suit on i feel the extra drag gets me all over the place. but in shorts i can hold head down and sit totally stable, havnig trouble docking successfuly in head down, but sit fly no problem... stable in sit after 15 trys. 11. i had a quick question. on base pilot chutes is there usually a handle attached to it? or does one just leave excess of the pilot out of the bag? Dont die!
  12. my ears make all kinds of popping noises after i do 6-10 jumps in one day, they do it for a few days after as well. no biggie. kind of like it actually. -e Dont die!
  13. i started freeflying after all my relative work jumps with coaches. on my a license checkout we went into sit fly no more than 10 feet away from each other for 3000 ft. totally bitchin. i am not the one to say what you should or shouldnt do, i primarily got into the sport for freeflying, i dont understand how people could spend careers on their belly. but, thats just one mans opinion. anyhow. cant wait to jump again. -e Dont die!
  14. How does one go from a larger chute to a smaller one? my profile says i am on a 132, thats a lie. i jump a 149. but i do own a 132. i am in no hurry to jump the 132, but i would like some feedback on how do i know when i am good to downsize? i have several jumps on the 149, and all landings have been ideal, on one foot, soft no problems, if anything, i think the 149 has been easier to fly than the 169 i was on before, it is much more responsive and reacts quicker to my input. my real question is, when is it safe to go down to the smaller size canopy? different dropzones, wind contitions? anything helps thanks. 15. i am not going to jump the base rig of anything stationary, rather, i am going to take my first base rig jump from a 3500 ft ultralight flight for a few rides and get my pack job down. then at that i am going to jump off a paraglider in open space with nothing to strike and learn the basics of packing a BASE rig. before i decide to make a REAL BASE jump. i was told the hardest part is the pack job, the jump is the easy part. 16. I am buying my first base rig and after doing homework on the rigs i read about how the velcro rigs are easier for beginners. I think that i would be happier knowing that my chute is being held in by two pins rather than a flap of velcro. no offense to velcro rig jumpers. Also, is the chute harder to get into/and close the container with a 2 pin release system? Just need a little feedback. thanks. e Dont die!
