How far do you drive to the DZ each weekend??
skyshimas replied to partyboy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Has been 15min now 5min will be about 10min this season-moving a lot :) -
Sweet man! after jumping it give me some feedback I am intrested in trying katana soemtime also. Jumped my crossfire2 119 today sweeeeeeeeeet ride want to jump and jump and... jump :)
-
got to try the easiest way first btw there should be no forums either because most of the topics had been covered before I am suare, so only the search engine would run here
-
Leads going to Katana! Good luck bro, be safe and have fun. haven't seen you land for a long time as I understand you came a long way now. I just bought another crossfire. It is crossfire2 119 after jumping it will demo katana 120 as well to see how they differ. As I understand from peoples reviews in these forums XF's are less ground hungry than katana's. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad choice for ya? just an option. Also a thought in my opinion it is harder to sell big hp canopy than a conventional wing.
-
It would be interesting to see other RS variations! If you got something different please post it here. Pic. is very helpful since I understand it better when I see smth oposed to reading about it 100's of times. I looked at deepseeds web and couldn't find anything only about suits and stuff.

to chop or not- this might be you someday

I never stow my toggles on the field either. I think it takes less time to walk to the packing area and take care of it there than play with it on the field more so when you have slider stowed behind your neck. And I feel it is safer this way also. It is only my preference! -
should you kite it with rig on or disconnect before and only hold it on risers? Never tried it only after landing in strong winds.
-
As it was said before any major manuf. rig will do its job. My personal choices when I was looking for a new rig were vector, mirage, infinity. I got second rig and it happened to be vector again. Also I would suggest to buy used gear first since you probably not gonna settle with 230-260 canopy too long depending on your weight etc. and money will be lost when buying new gear. Only my 2 cents

who cares about the view, if the sky is blue the beautiful is view

I am from small dz so i see a problem when I go to a big dz with otters. Because it is not an everyday thing to me so I tend to risk more than I would at my home dz even worse is at the boogies :) hey man I am here to jump! I know it's stupid. Definately I would stay down in chopy conditions if canopies are collapsing on landings. But if I am at the boogie and its windy but not turbulent I will keep on going while on the other hand at my dz I would stay down since I love swooping or whatever it is that I do :)
-
You are right it takes quite a bit of time to stow slider behind the head. And sometimes my toggle gets loose while passing slider through- I hate that because it starts spinning maybe not spinning but turning at first. And all those procedures stowing slider, loosening chest strap, moving leg straps up the thigh takes a chunk of attention from whats going on around you. Maybe this would be a solution, which would eliminate the longest part of this process- stowing the slider.
-
yeah probably its not worth it. I am no competitor either.
-
Yes, I am talking about removable slider only and I do have a regular chest strap... when i thought about it I remembered being just after aff and I wish somebody told me to losen up chest strap and I wasn't swooping or anything :) so know I am thinking maybe it is a great think I should do also although I am not trying to get that every little bit of performance or in other words I am not competing- its still far away if not too far :) If that slider removed would help me come back from a long spot it is a good thing is in it? or give similar benefits.
-
When is it relevant to have a removable slider? I stow my slider behind the head and I love the difference it makes in comparison to as if I would just callapse it and leave it hang there. Now I wonder what if I would remove it completely! Is there a size of the canopy one should fly before getting RS to feel the benefit or high W/L? I fly 1.7-1 CF2 119. I don't want others to think that I am acting cool or anything. So would RS give me any sizable advantage and improve flight characteristics and would be worth the hussle to pack? Any opinion appreciated!

borrowed gear till about 100 jump including student gear and 10 jumps on the round parachutes. sabre 170 (100-360) crossfire2 139 ( 360-present close to 600) WL(1.4-5:1) next thinking of crossfire2 109 or katana 107. If budget allows me to. -
Went to florida z-hills for christmas boogie for the first time and had a blast. Already thinking where to get money for the next year. You can get everything you want there as well tunnel is only an hour away which to me is nothing. People are super cool good vibes all around. Never been to AZ tho so can't speak about that place. But with florida can't go wrong!

I just flew the wing suit for the first time yesterday-it was awesome! it was bird-man GTi. I looked up their website and they say that GTi is intermediate or advaned suit and firebird good for beginners. but from the pictures it seems that firebird has bigger wings? Also it looks like phantom(phoenix-fly) would be a nice siut to learn and advance in wing suit flying and eagle from tonny suits. The guy who I flew with said I did realy good my neptune showed 58mph at the lowest fall rate

Landed off??....Let's hear about it!
skyshimas replied to kturnau's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My most scary land off was under a round parachute. I probably had 3 to 5 jumps at the time. It was windy that day and we had a lot of first timers to do their first static line with a round. Me and my friend as very "experienced" jumpers convinced dzo to let us go and "check" the winds before they let go newbies hehe. Other people on the loud were jumping square parachutes. So we went and the spot wasn't very good for us- too short to make even a huge landing field. I saw I wasn't landing in the field and looked over my shoulder what was awaiting for me as I was flying backwards. All I could see was some scattered trees and swamps. I thought that can't be good- I am gonna brake something this time. well I landed in some grandmas back yard my feet barely passed the roof of her house I was going sideways not even facing into the wind did a good PLF got up looked around. I was 10 feet away form a little pond 5 feet from some metal pole sticking several feet of the ground my friend asked if I saw the power lines(which I didn't see) I just missed on the way to grandmas house. All ended up well with no injuries to me or my friend only grandma was terrified that someone went in in her back yard.
