Does anyone have any recent experience dealing with the internet based agency that USPA endorses on their website? www.skydiverslifeinsurnace.com takes you to www.wholesaleinsurance.net I'm a little leary about dealing with someone that I can't see and touch, ya know? _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

A while back i heard of one possibly opening up near Deep Creek Lake, that's far western Md, but I don't know whatever happened to that idea. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

QuoteBut the coolest sheath is made by BASIC RESEARCH/APEX BASE. It has two loops that slip over the chest strap and MLW to hold it securely just above your reserve ripcord handle or cutaway pillow. You end up with a cross-draw sheath. Would you happen to have a picture of this sheath? Even a sketch would do it. Thanks _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

What if you fell out of an airplane without a parachute?
dmetz replied to Vertifly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
not sure what i would do, i guess it depends on the situation and my mood at the time. but here's a question for all: do you want to see it coming or not? stare it in the face, and fight til the end; or turn over and try to accept it and relax one last time? _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?" -
Motus Boogie - Aug. 12-13 at Skydive Virginia
dmetz replied to crbizri's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Anyone know if anybody's staying at the dz tonight (friday)? Anyone know if we'll be having an early start tomorrow? 6,7,8,9 o'clock? I'll be there early anyway, since I now live only ten short and glorious minutes away. And I'm down for any of the 4-way stuff, and any canopy stuff... and any other good stuff too. Can't wait! _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?" -
3 month lay off ... a few questions
dmetz replied to lisamariewillbe's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ask all the questions you need. Being that its only been three months, your instructor may whip through it if he/she thinks you're good to go. But if you have concerns, no harm in bringing them up. I have had 2 separate one year lay-offs to my credit, so I have a pretty good idea of what your thinking. Brush up on the good stuff, and once you step out it'll all come back to that natural feeling you had before. You'll be fine. Welcome back. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?" -
No issues on my end; I don't even have a Sabre2. Just browsing the classifieds and the thought popped in my head. Maybe it was the Sabre1 that I was thinking of that had some better years than others. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

I tried a search but didn't find anything. Are there any particular "bad" DOM years of the Sabre2? I think I remember hearing of it before, but not sure. Thanks. Dan _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

I agree with Jacques. I switched to pyscho packing and have had great results thus far. I know that it is really only a differnet method of bagging, but that method allows me to control my pack job better. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

Just suck it up and drive on, dude. Maybe try just hanging out at the dz one day. Don't do any jumps, just hang out and observe everyone else. Sit in on, some AFF instruction or some coaching, just to take it all in. When you realize that you already know everything that these younger jumpers are being taught to survive, maybe you'll stop trying to punish yourself for being in a slump. Just a thought _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

All good stuff here; you're all answering a lot of my questions too, so keep it coming. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

I second that. Even though I am surely depriving myself of aquiring all this great pro packing expereince, it makes packing much quicker, and really helps a lot to calm my openings. I only hope I'm doing it the right way. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

Whats your little handshake before you leave the plane?
dmetz replied to Mike111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Some people do the running fingers thing, kind of like they're tickling eachothers hands. ( something about that reminds me of Pauly Shore for some reason, so I don't prefer it) But I prefer the slide with a snap off the finger tips. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?" -
Opening riser covers for hop-n-pops
dmetz replied to LearningTOfly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've heard of people doing that when throwing right out door, like when doing CRW. But on most h-n-ps I give myself enough time to get near terminal; at least enough to not worry about it. I'm sure you'll get both sides from more experienced folks than you and I. I recently tossed right out the door, and ended up with some massive twists. Riser covers could have a factor I suppose, but I don't know. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?" -
Cool, thanks! PM sent. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

I change about 4 bands every time. Sometimes more, but rarely less. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

Anyone? _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

I'm gonna try that next time...thanks. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

No. It doesn't seem as though they would. Or doing a wimpy toss and leaving it on your back? No. I know, because I've done that before and it took about 1500 ft to open; and that one was scarey enough for me to pay attention to my throw every time now. Mine takes about 1000ft every time. Really. Thanks for your opinion; that's why I asked. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

If you were in that courtroom with Moussaoui, what would you do?
dmetz replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
Very good point. This guy wants to die for his cause more than anything. I say tie him up in a public courtyard somewhere, (ooo, maybe a "Roaming display") so all us "filthy Americans" can come and throw vegetables at him for the next 50 years. I think that just might be the most terrible and humiliating punishment he could imagine. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?" -
Anyone: I use small bands and double-wrap all but the first two locking stows (as per rigger's suggestion). Obviously I don't have a problem with them being too loose, but could they be too tight? I fly a Sabre1 170 and it takes a good 1000 ft from pitch to saddle, and there's not too much snivel. But it seems like it takes a long time before I get pulled upright. Could that be attributed to the tight bands? (by the way, I have a brand new PC and I make sure to give it a good toss) Thanks Dan _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

Absolutely! It's just boring as hell waiting a whole month to start it. _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"

Does anyone on here jump there, or spent some time there recently? I did my AFF and spent a few months jumping there back in '01, and just curious who's still there. Staff and fun jumpers. Just looking through my log book and I'm seeing: Arturo K. Jeremy F. Kevin M. A2C Satomi Eric M. Flip H. Mike ? (rigger/vid) Arvel S. ...and others. Anyway, no particular reason other than curiousity. I was just thinking about it and wondering if I ever make it back out there, will I see some of the same faces? _________________________________________ "If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?"
