  1. PVD in Chicago Wed Feb 19th at Transit (awesome venue) word is he will go on at 1:00am and spin for 3-4 hours (sweeeeet) it has sold out and Pure has released more tickets through ticketmaster for $25. If you wanna go, I would hurry up, and if you wanna get in without waiting for 2 hours, I would get there early. This whole tour is promoting his new DVD, which hooray comes out today Feb 11th. PM me and let me know if you will be there. Bret
  2. "Paul Oakenfold! Twas my idol when I was a club DJ up here. I still consider him the best DJ to even spin a disk, bar none!" Dude not good. You really need to listen to some of his live sets, he is one of the worst technical mixers ever to make it anywhere. I have seen him trainwreck more sets than I care to count anymore. I do however give his due credit for what he has done, but he didn't need to go and do a song with crazytown, or stop buying any new records since 1999! This thing sounds like a decent massive, but too comercialized for my liking. Anyone remember the days of having to call 3 different phone numbers and driving to god knows where to see a proper party? I miss it. Although I would like to see Sander Kleinberg again, the guy has some serious talent and presence in the booth. I have seen almost everyone on that list at least once, and he along with JOSH WINK just never cease to amaze me, always coming up with a innovative set and blowing people away. I am setting my sights high for PVD Feb 19th in chicago, he was very good a few months back, but I wish Underworld was coming back instead. Bret So hows your evening so far???
  3. "for those of you sitting on the right side of the plane if you look out your window you'll see the left wing." "and while we're spinning out of control I just want to thank you all for flying with us and choosing us air. we know you had a choice in airlines and apparently, you picked wrong." "talk to me goose...." Bret
  4. "2. Vectran is more aerodymanic than microline. " Do explain.... Bret
  5. "It is just cosmetic overkill and does nothing to improve safety period" ya think.... "I usually try to remember to make sure my hook-knife gets checked. I frequently forget, and strangely they never notice..." Give these TSA guys a badge and watch their ego inflate. They seem to know everything about airline security, aircraft, FARs, etc. Makes me sick to know these idiots are in supposedly in charge of my safety. I shoulda been a business major.... Bret senior Aviation major at Purdue
  6. Val it looks sweet, but what did you do with the pink rig??? Bret
  7. Just got a new batrak a couple weeks ago and the new cutaway system looks great - simple and easy to get to. Haven't jumped it yet so I can't give a good opinion on it yet but it fits great, and will be a very nice setup as far as line snag resistance and riser hits. Bret
  8. No one has mentioned what has to be the greatest episode of all time... The Softball episode - the nuclear powerplant company softball team with Strawberry (Darryl..Darryl..Darryl), Mattingly, Steve Sax, Canseco, Ken G. Jr, Roger Clemens, Ozzie Smith, Mike Sosha, Wade Boggs. That whole episode was hilarious. Anything with Disco Stu, Linal Hutz, Dr. Nick Riveria, or Police Chief Wiggum. Especially Wiggum... The other episode has to be the one the police dog leads them to the blind guy's house whos got weed. Then they arrest him, tell Bart to leave and the scene cuts to the outside of the house, Bob Marley Jammin starts playing, and the other cops show up with their dates. Bret
  9. Ok so I am back from my Lake Wales trip and had a somewhat small problem traveling with my rig. Me and my girlfriend had no problem going out through Ohare. The xray screener stopped the belt to take a closer look on his screen, but that was it. Didn't even have to open up the bags (we were carrying them on, she has a cypress, I don't) Orlando was a different story all together. TSA guys at xray screening stop both bags. We have to open them up. They want to see the CO2 containers?, and see these cables and boxes so they say (cypress) and say there is no way these thingd are getting on a plane. We explain what the cypress is, batteries and such, show them the card for it. Nothing doing. They are getting worked up now, and theres a small crowd of wannabe tough guys around us. A supervisor finally shows up after I ask to talk to one. We explain to him who is a little more understanding. He says if the airline allows it, he will. but we need it in writting. so we go back to the Spirit ticketing booth. Go through the whole process again. This is getting old. They say it can't go on (carry on) if it can open up or something along those lines, and also are concerned about these containers inside the one rig. so we ask them to call a supervisor who is also clueless. so she finally decides to call the capt of the flight, and whatever he says will be law. they get him on the phone and he says they cannot be carried on, they can be gate checked. Spirit upgrades us to first class at this point since we ask. We tell them we don't wanna have to tell all our skydiver friends about the hassel we got. so we get this in writing and go back to xray. again they stop us and don;t want to let us by. we get the supervisor back again. he looks at the paper the spirit people gave us (which is a piece of paper with the handwritten explaination on it, not even company letterhead) and decides to let us go. We get to the gate (it has now been boarding for a while) and there is another TSA superstar waiting for us. "Are you the ones with the parachutes?!" "yeah" "they need to be gate checked, you need to tell them" "we know" this one is a total bitch. she waits in line with us to board, and as i am about to hand my boarding pass to the guy and tell him about the gate check, she basically pushes me aside and says, "these two have parachutes, these bags need to be taken and gate checked." so finally we get on the plane and come home, after sitting in it for over an hour waiting for a maintenance problem to be fixed. At least spirit upgraded us to first class after all the hassel. Bret
  10. I have been in your shoes trust me. Now 5 years later I hopefully will graduate in May. I think once you find something you like you will be much better off and more willing to put the work into school. I started in business, hated it, had similar thoughts to yours, then switched to aviation. I like my major, actually enjoy some classes, and look forward to doing it for a living (even though the pay sucks, the job market is terrible, and there is no room for a bad day). I went and talked to a career planning person when I knew I wanted out of business. Took some personality and interest tests, and ended up switching. I am sure they have something like that at your school, go talk to them. Bret
  11. I'll call him a goatf*cker for $20 bucks! - Supertroopers, that movie has some great ones "Don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive" and "Her name's Naomi, thats 'I moan' backwards...yeah" "If he's here, who's runnin hell?" Van Wilder Bret
  12. -"Whats your nickname?" -"Citizen dildo" -"you are not spending the night"
  13. "Choose life" from Trainspotting, the beginning of a long list of things to choose Bret
  14. I agree that it is a load of crap. I wasn't planning on going this year anyway (have a wedding new years eve I have to go to) but now am not feeling so bad about not being able to go. I would like to hear how they can justify this, especially if nationals was $40 as you say. Where is this money going to? If I were in your shoes I would go down the street to Marana (isn't Mullin's king air there?) for that $250 deal. Bret
  15. "A PC5 used can be had for under $350 on Ebay" Good luck... They usually go for around 5-600. Been doing lots and lots of research and watching ebay lately to find a camcorder. Ended up going with a new TRV25 from dbuys. As far as still cameras go look at my post in this forum asking about stlls cameras, there is some good replies in there. Bret
  16. I also have to put in a vote for Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Snatch (Guy Ritchie is awesome) Fear and Loathing and no one has mentioned... DOLEMITE! Bret
  17. Trainspotting (great soundtrack) Run Lola Run It's A Wonderful Life Top Gun Dolemite anyone here seen it??
  18. The TRV25 is here (hooray), the helmet is decided on (batrak), and now the attention goes to the stills camera. I have done the searches on this forum, but the posts are from a while back. I have some questions about some of the newer stuff. As far as the Rebel line goes, is the 2000 and new Ti worth the extra money over a Rebel G? Rebel G's are going for around $150-190 whereas the Ti is selling in the $300 ballpark. I think I will end up going Canon, due to things discussed before about the ease of hooking up a bite switch or tongue switch when compared to the Nikons. Or do the newer Nikons have the 2.5 plug now? Is there any reason to go with Nikon over Canon or vice versa? Pentax anyone?? Lots of questions, sorry to overload everyone. Thanks in advance and thanks for all the previous help, this is going to be a fun winter playing with all this and getting the setup right. Bret
  19. Me and my roomates here at school had it made for a long time. The Krispy Kreme delivery guy used to stop by every night at around 3am (we would still be up drinking, this was summer mind you, nothing to do but a couple summer school classes) and give us however many boxes we wanted for the night. We had at one time something like 20 dozen donuts in our fridge. He doesn't stop by every night like he did all summer, but we still get the occassional visit. They make for great drunk food. Bret
  20. Groove Armada is actually made up of 2 DJ's, Andy Cato and Tom Findlay from London, although when they tour or do live shows they have about 10-12 people on stage performing on live actual instruments, not all syths. I saw them live shortyly after their huge hit "I See You Baby" (made famous by Fatboy's remix). Having no clue what they would be like live, I went with low expectations. I was blown away. To this date, my favorite show I have ever seen, and I have seen every major electronic act or DJ around. I See You Baby is what got them noticed, but their music is great, very different from song to song. The cd with I See You Baby is called Vertigo. Their last years album Goodbye Country-Hello Nightclub is awesome. It has the song Superstylin' which is a total party song. The whole cd is one you can just put on and listen to from beginning to end. I am a huge fan. Bret
  21. This all raises an interesting question... What have all of you done or given up to skydive? I myself really only own 2 things of any value, my rig and all the other things that go along with skydiving, and my DJ stuff (technics, mixer, cd decks, crates of vinyl). I now am trying to find a way to afford a camera setup, but have no clue how its gonna happen anytime soon. Bret PCSS #19
  22. let me consult the latest credit card(s) bill(s).... yeah I'm in, in a big way. Bret
