  1. In the early 80's at Mcgee Ms, my brother Don and I were in a 4way with two other brothers. I cant remember the other fellers names, but I remember a couple other things about the dive....I closed 4th (which was a big deal for me since I fell like a greased pig tied to an anvil) and at the end of the dive I tossed out a total malf on the main...after which the pilot chute wrapped in the reserve lines and held the reserve closed for a few seconds. That'll make yer butt pucker up like a buggy hub!
  2. Less - "as God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly"
  3. Being over 200 my whole life I qualified for that load...and was on it. I remember it well. Alright! I was almost on a 20 way with 'ya!
  4. The "Firestone 3" went to Georgia, and flew under the name of "Sugar Alpha"....... Any of you folks on the Sugar Alpha load at FB '85 when it blew the jug? Organizers had put together a "2-ton 20 way" All guys over 200lbs. I only had a couple hundred jumps, but I was really good at being over 200lbs, so I was invited along.
  5. Ive got one of the "old' ones. Scrambled eggs and mesh.....one of my most prized possesions. Its also loaded with memories of the places it and I have been. Bought mine at the Nationals in '82, in support of the FB speedstar team. Lost it in 2005 in a house fire, it was still going strong too. (well..."strong" may have applied more to how it smelled at that point)
  6. They're actually both little party "animals"
  7. Lisa, they do look like they could be cousins!
  8. This one is over 20 years old....still a favorite though....
  9. My request as well...... Several years ago at Quincy, our garage band was booked to play some skydive tunes one evening on the main stage. We were getting heckled by some assholes (no, actual assholes) because we weren't a dance band. Johnny stood down front during the entire set, smiling and jammin with us. His presence there was an encouragment to us all. When it was over , one of the guys in the band said "hey did you see that Jerry Garcia lookin dewd down front jammin?....cool!" I never got to thank Johnny for the respect he showed us that evening...but that's alright, we'll have something to talk about when I get to heaven. srf
  10. Yes I have. Back in 1982 I was about 5 jumps short of the required 50 to attend the Nationals boogie. Padded my logbook to show the required number.....a couple days into the boogie me and my brother asked the guy at manifest if he knew of any other low time jumpers who might want to make a load. He gets on the PA, and in a few minutes theres 5-6 jumpers standing around. Someone suggested that we go around the circle and tell everyone our jump numbers. All the others were throwing out numbers like 150 - 190 - 220......when it came to my turn, I just couldn't say "56...so I lied and said "67!" Smooth huh?
  11. I've screwed up every attempt in the past to post pics on here....got some coaching from boinky who pointed out that "cussing at the computer doesn't help in the reduction process"....well......the pics never got any smaller, but I usually felt better
  12. It said I was an "emotional wreck" and that 1300 people out of 129000 received that result. It also said I was super sensitive...HEY THATS CRAP...WHERE DO THEY GET OFF....ummm, never mind.
  13. I didn't get scratched this morning, but when one of my two (Zac & Jude) decided to execute a wrestling throw down on the other...they landed right on my crotchal area. I hate geting scratched, but have found out I dont like receiving a "cod" shot even less!
  14. Hey Mark-miester! Doin well Bro. I've had some funny experiences over the years, releated to that wreck. Sittin in a doc's office one day , the doc walks in looking at x-rays of my back. He get's this sad look on his face and says "son, can you walk at all?" I started laughin , got up and cruised around the room a couple times . Looked back at him and said "what'cha think?" He looked at the x-ray again, then back at me, and shaking his head said "shouldn't be able to " I know that Gainesville reunion had to have been a hoot! And I'm sure the theme of the weekend was "Safety (meeting) First!! Doesn't seem possible Jebs been gone 20 years... Blue Stuff right back at'cha!
  15. Once during a small door exit, I was shoved sideways just as I reached the door. Managed to make it thru anyhow...the guy behind me caught the door frame with his face. Broke his nose and did that whole "bleed'in on his goggles thing" all the way down.
  16. Soooo, ummm am I the only one who cant find the other pic from the load on the Sebastian site? Oh I'm not asking for ME...it's for a friend....yeah
  17. Twardo, your wife doesn't know you're in there on the computer does she? "I was looking around the plane down at SkyFest and had to laugh to myself.....I was the only one with no YELLOW on my altimeter!" It tickles me listening to some of these kids talking about "smokin" it down to 4500
  18. [replyand shake hands or whatever . . . I prefer hands though. Yeah bro.....ummm, hands would be fine
  19. QuoteFederal Aviation Administration Flight Standards International District Office. reply] Thanks Twardo for the heads up... (The business card for that would have'ta be a foot or two long.....) Well then , no..I dont have any relatives working there.....my grandfather worked at one of the State penitentiarys in Miss. if that helps any
  20. Soooo, this could end up being like one of those monumental summit meetings that changes the course of history huh? (Or at least a good excuse to swill a beer or two)
  21. Oh Dave....dont let the fact that we got an invite to this Mombo sized Boogie fool'ya! My brother and I , for years, have been the only dudes in our skydive clan that play any instruments. So naturally, around the homeboys....we're the BEST! I would say we are adequate...it's more about the content. We've always pretty much been wise asses, and that tends to bleed over into our songs. I'd probably better qualify using the word "adeqaute"and say that pertains to me. Lately my brother has been playing some very mean harp, and now I'm looking forward to hearing you two jam! We have a couple blues tunes, so I could lay down a little 3 chord blues thang and let'cha jump all over it! Not related to Kim (that I know of) ...and I tried to come up with a bluff to hide my ig-ner-ance, but "Fsido" went right over my head Walt---excellent bro! Looking forward to it!
