I figured she got $1500 for not producing a future criminal. I have no idea If she was raped. If you think so maybe she got $1500 for identifying her assailant. . $1500 sounds kind of cheap for a rape victim. I don't think you could put a price of that. Giving people a $50 reward for having a vasectomy rather than taking their gun was meant as a joke too. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.

Untrue (the bold part). Election results are not certified until weeks after the election. Absentee ballots are counted as they are received until the results are certified. However, since so few miliary personnel are voting in each district, the chances that those absentee ballots received after the general election would change the outcome of the election are all but non-existent. (Note: while service as a voting assistance officer, I saw the timeline of when absentee ballots are counted, which is why I remember this. However, I cannot locate right now a link to this information. Statistical comments about absentee voters in each district are my own observation) According to this, large numbers of military personnel did not get absentee ballots: ballots.http://ivn.us/2012/10/25/military-voters-disenfranchised-record-low-2012-turnout/ The drop in military voter ballot requests happened despite the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (or MOVE Act), which Congress passed in 2009 following the 2008 election’s low military voter turnout. The law created a program called the Federal Voting Assistance Program, tasked with creating voting assistance services for active duty military members serving at overseas military installations. But the FVAP hasn’t set up a single military voter assistance office at a number of military installations overseas according to findings in an August DOD Inspector General report. Part of the problem is a bureaucratic tangle of funding hurdles, but US News and World Report published an article this month reporting that part of the problem is resistance from the Department of Defense itself. The Pentagon’s failure to implement the 2009 act of Congress will likely leave thousands of military voters disenfranchised in the 2012 election. Some Republicans are charging the Obama Administration with active voter suppression of military voters, who tend to lean Republican. Strong turnout among military voters overseas could make all the difference in swing states where the poll numbers are close. Over the weekend, The Hill reported: “However, congressional Republicans have hammered the Pentagon for not following through on the requirements outlined in the 2009 legislation, leaving thousands of military personnel unable to cast their vote. The military vote tends to sway Republican, and with recent polls showing President Obama and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in a virtual dead heat, strong voter turnout by American service members could be the difference between a second term for Obama or a Romney White House.” In response to the military voter disenfranchisement controversy, US Senator John Cornyn (TX) said in a letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta: “The price of DoD’s failure to follow the law will likely be paid this November by military service members and their families, whose voting rights were to have been safeguarded by this provision.” There are states that purposefully send ballots late to the troops overseas. Alabama was sued by the US DOJ for being late, but NY and Illinois have the worst rep, and apparently don't get sued. http://www.gop.gov/policy-news/10/10/20/dont-disenfranchise-u-sSeveral states have not complied with transmitting ballots by the September 18, 2010, deadline, and one state, New York, failed to meet a later deadline after being granted a waiver. The DOJ failed to ensure compliance. Furthermore, DOJ appears to have accepted vague and misleading assertions of compliance from states including New York and Illinois. So you're against setting a time limit because it means there is actually no time limit, but you're ok with not setting a time limit because that means there is one? >Nice mix of words. Barack Hussein intends to make Afghanistan our 51 state; not the UK. When did that happen? Korea? No. Vietnam? No. Cuba? No. Cambodia? No. Balkans? No. Gulf 1? No. Afghanistan*? No. Gulf 2**? No. So... what version of history are you talking about? * Not started by Obama. ** Also not started by Obama. >It hasn't happened yet until the American public wakes up. Obama? The NO (neighborhood organizer) can't manage a DQ (dairy queen) so why would he care about bringing the troops home. He too busy working damage control. As long as he can keep the troops in Afghanistan, there will be fewer voters against him. The bonus for him? A lot more will die. You think you'll get the result you want with torture, oppression and indiscrimiate bloodshed? > War is a dirty business, and you British should know. How convenient, because Obama got it done it obviously didn't matter any more. >You said it. Like I said, "Better late than never". Major Nidal hasan joined the Army under Reagan and served under Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2 and Obama. Why is it Obama's fault he was allowed to serve? Similarly, gun restrictions on military bases came from Bush 1 and Clinton, and were carried through both of Bush 2's terms. Why is that bit of political correctness Obama's fault? > >No doubt Hasan went through the ranks under Bush, but his extreme Jihadist views tipped the scale after he was at Fort Hood, and after he had orders to serve in Afghanistan. The FBI knew this and did nothing. Nothing alleged there. "Hasan first appeared on the bureau's radar in December of 2008—nearly a year before the Fort Hood massacre—when he emailed Awlaki to ask him whether serving in the US military was compatible with the Muslim faith. He also asked whether Awlaki considered those who died attacking their fellow soldiers "shaheeds," or martyrs."-Mother Jones Everyone's gone home defeated. Even Vizzini knew that. In this case though, my advice would be to go back in time and not invade Iraq. Check out the Art of War by Sun Tzu Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. -

"I don't understand your point. Earlier you moaned about Obama putting a time limit on a mission, now you're moaning about other Presidents not putting time limits on missions. You kinda have to pick one." >Obama's troop surge announcement followed by a withdrawal date was nothing but great news to the enemy who could make or change plans indefinitely. There was "no" real time limit until the last American would come home. We could be there indefinitely, or until Karzi gets a better deal with the Taliban or India. You do understand we are trying to work a post 2014 deal with Karzi; right? Regarding other presidents: with time restraints, there would be real questions about the feasibility of going to war at all. Most of all, there would be no such thing as "limited warfare" if we actually went. We would go, complete the mission, and come home. Of course we would use drones when possible to keep the troops at home. >If we are so interested in the "people" why not make a deal with the Taliban for the Peace Corps to, "at a minimum", give them modern healthcare without any troops. "I think you know that's completely ridiculous. It's the Taliban. They don't think like that." >Had we done the exact things to the Taliban that they did to the innocent, they "they would think just like that". We just don't have the stomach to bring war on the civilians who support the Taliban. We fight with "limited warfare", and this is where the rules of engagement benefit the Taliban. >It's really a shame how we let OBL get away for so long. Clinton balked more than once, and Bush just gave up. If we had gotten him earlier and killed or chased his lieutenants into permanent hiding, I think things would have been different. We have failed to bring in the people who attacked our consulate in Benghazi, and now every jihadist knows we are neutered by this administration. "So... you blame Clinton for not killing OBL. You blame Bush for not killing OBL. OBL is killed under Obama's watch and now they think the US is neutered? How does that follow?" >It's about timing. By the time the CIA located OBL, he was ready to draw social security. He had pulled off 9-11 and established Al Quaeda around the world. Had Clinton acted on real-time intelligence they could have killed him before 9-11. Sure, OBL was killed "under Obama's watch"; better late than never. The President of the United States left his post as Commander-in-Chief the day after the attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi to campaign in California. The terrorists who attacked our consulate and murdered American citizens have never been brought to justice. "They" have good reason to think were are "neutered". >This one is stacking the military with politically correct officers from the General Officers Corps on down. "Nope, that's just your paranoia talking" >It was political correctness that allowed Major Nidel Hasan to murder those soldiers and civilians at Fort Hood, and it was political correctness that restricted the use of firearms on post to civilian police officers. >Question: Regarding Afghanistan, how come the British went home defeated. Any advice? Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. -
Getting to the "Bottom" of the Suicide Bomber Story
rickjump1 replied to rickjump1's topic in Speakers Corner
You have to look around any "religion" here. This is just an "unusual" method of carrying war to an enemy. We have had our share of bombings in this country, and people need to know at what great lengths our opponents will take to kill their enemies. Besides, people have been stuffing stuff up their asses since the beginning of time. Right? This is just different stuff. Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. -

Having the bodyguards in Vietnam, and talking about his Vietnam experience did it for me, and I agree totally with your choice of words. Of course Bush chased Migs over the Tex/Ok border in the ANG. Wonder if he would have gone if they got called up. As President (and now), Bush certainly had more respect for the military than Gore, Clinton, or the neighborhood organizer. Hanging judges like Judge Roy Bean no doubt took up the slack for a genuine lack of law and order west of the Pecos River. Their time is long gone. Want to buy a judge today? Speaking from the standpoint of working in a lawfirm the last 5 years (not as a lawyer)... irrelevant. Your ability to navigate the system (criminal or civil) is determined entirely on how much money you can throw at the problem. Somehow I already knew this. However, it has been pointed out that not all counties are alike. Could you agree that the "right" judge could at least get this kid some time while they do "navigate" the system? Right answer. Wealth is positively correlated with one's parents' wealth, which is positively correlated with racial background (although it's more mixed than it used to be). And since wealth buys power, and people want power, they curry favor with the wealthy. In the case of the drunken teenager, the argument was that he could be returned to productiveness with extremely expensive treatment that the parents can afford. And since he's very young, that might even be true. Obviously poor people can't afford that treatment. And no one needs the favor of poor people, except for other poor people, and some politicians. Wendy P. . The first thing this kids needs in his "treatment" is time behind bars in the company of bums like himself. He should be "returned to productiveness" (who says he was ever productive?) like anyone else. Only then can his parent's fix their poor "sick" boy. It looks to me that we have to flex our muscles every twenty years and end up wasting our youth and financial resources overseas without a clear and defined mission, nor do we place any time limit on this "outing". When things get nasty, we put constraints on the people doing the fighting, and the enemy uses this to their full advantage. If we are so interested in the "people" why not make a deal with the Taliban for the Peace Corps to, "at a minimum", give them modern healthcare without any troops. We even allow our enemies to stage out of the United States, infiltrate our armed forces, and use our Constitution against us. We are fucked without a real commander-in-chief period. This one is stacking the military with politically correct officers from the General Officers Corps on down. We are on the path to having a token military. Sorry for the rant. Dude was drinking beer in public whilst in possession of a weed pipe -> gets sent to jail cause his black. Affluenza Defense: Rich Texas Teen Gets Probation For Killing 4 Pedestrians While Driving Drunk ***Authorities said the teen and friends were seen on surveillance video stealing two cases of beer from a store. He had seven passengers in his Ford F-350, was speeding and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit, according to testimony during the trial. His pickup truck slammed into the four pedestrians, killing Brian Jennings, a 43-year-old Burleson youth minister; Breanna Mitchell of Lillian, 24; Shelby Boyles, 21; and her 52-year-old mother, Hollie Boyles. Rich white boy steals beer, gets drunk and kills couple of pedestrians on hid daddy's SUV -> slap on the wrist. America, fuck yeah! I think you're wrong. You don't know the full story. If he were white, drunk, with the drug stuff, he would go to jail too. My guess, this guy would have been let out of jail after sobering up for just a misdemeanor. The "black" jail officer sure slammed him. Looked excessive to me. Just look how big the jail officer is. The judge who passed on the white kid needs to go.
