However not all people treat life as a game. I for one do not think there will be a second half.

I was on a motorbike (sarcasm/guess it was my fault) in a carpark when someone did not look as they turned a corner and T-boned me. Drivers who do not take care at stop signs/lights and who cut corners should loose their license straight away. Thank god for redlight camera's could you imagine how many people would speed through redlights if they knew they would never get caught. I do like the touch of speed cameras being added to redlight cameras. So if you try to speed through it you get picked. Of course you know where they are and just slow down there.

This boogie is posted in a few other threads. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1472185;#1472185 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1413493;#1413493 Also losty it might help everyone out a little if you filled in a bit of your info.

Well for one if you require nudity to watch a video go to the local video store and rent a porn flick. I do laugh when I see a skydiving tape of someone doing their 100th or something similar but I do not think its right to have this broadcast to whuffos. It is not what that person intended it for and really is a disrepect to what they are celebrating. We do not have enough women in skydiving, and I do not think heaps would flock in when they see women being portrayed in a tasteless way like this. Probably the main difference between motorcross and skydiving is there are alot of armchair motorcross riders. And I know I thought skydiving would be relatively easy but I now respect the videos alot more now I have done it, so I think the userbase is more people who have done it or really want to do it. Anyone can get a friends dirt bike and take it for a spin and hence you have done it and experienced it (you know the I am the best even though I have done it once mindset). To alot of people skydiving is a black art and something they could never do or do not have the guts to do. Also due to the age limit there is a specific age group that normally buys crap like this that would not be interested because its too expensive to take up or they are not old enough. There are alot more motorcross riders and it is also a sport where SO might enjoy watching. And at big events there are the rev head groupies which are distinctly lacking at dropzones (thank god). I also question your thought of wanting to capture an audience that even enjoys seeing projectile vomiting etc.. I know I have been to a few nights out and some things are funny to watch when you are pissed or in context but really toilet humor is pretty bad and if that is your audience then I feel sorry for you. Since skydiving is such a small community it would not work very well. And I think the whole idea of including whuffos in videos just so boobs are shown is in poor taste and would bring a bad name for skydivers even if the ones that are nude are not even skydivers. I know your post is a pisstake, but I did think it was worthy of a reply as I am disappointed so many people do buy tapes based on the qualities you mention. It is a funny society we live in. And I would just like to add I have seen DZ tapes with stupid shit in it, and it was done in the moment and in good fun and definately added to the tapes I have watched. But if it was done just for the video or if people got the video just for the silly stuff then it would dissapoint me.

What is with posting that link 3 times. It is not even a new video I downloaded it in August as "8mannanpasemester.mov" from headdown and I am guessing it was way older than that. I think the video is great, but do you really have to post it 3 times. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1479077 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1479043 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1479064

"However, during freefall I did something to induce a spin. My instuctor said it had something to do with my legs and also my head." I would talk to your instructor and ask the questions you need to ask to change the words "something" to I need more work on my legs being not symetrical or I have a tendency to tilt my head to the left when I find my body moves to the right. It is only your second jump so you may be still getting the sensory overload. I had the problem when I did a spin I brought my legs in. It took me a few jumps to work out why I was always drifting away form my instructor, but it was because I didnt put my legs back when I stopped spinning. All I am saying is if you have questions, ask your instructor. Think about the aero dynamics and think why this would occur. If you do not understand talk it over with your instructor. I went into spins on my first few jumps as have a few of my friends. Sometimes instructors just want to see if you can identify you are doing it and attempt to correct. Sometimes you may have to repeat a stage, but either way it will be fixed with time. Oh to answer your question, I would asume it is normal ( i doubt everyone has perfect body position ). You might not fix it in one jump, sometimes it seems worst because you are thinking about it too much. But if you have a brain and learn from your mistakes and listen to your instructor I am sure it will work itself out. But all this is coming form a newbie like yourself. Enjoy the big blue and do not give up.

Thank you steve ;) FYI it is now my "home page" so its the first thing i see in the morning.

The Herc boogie in sweden is one that I am aiming for. But it sounds like you have done this already.

Wire brush is never fun, but when a cute nurse does it, its a little bit more bareable ;) I was a little off the landing area and notice I try my hardest to avoid the road (small single lane) because I thought it would be bad to land on. After I dragged my ass out of the mud I asked my DZSO about landing on concret. I should have asked this at the start, I was suprised the thought had never gotten in my head after 20 jumps. Glad it was only scraps. Thanks for the video.

You have 20 jumps now, you know what a good position should feel like and a bad one. If you are really concerned perhaps ask someone with a camera to jump with you. I did some pretty shocking exits, and after I thought about it I worked out my legs were wrong during the dive. When things like that Click it makes your dives alot more fun. I was worried about stuffing things up during my instructor jumps but now when I can funjump I just try to work out what I do wrong and spend the next few jumps trying to improve whatever I identified. Please post here and tell me how you are going.

Steve I would recommend putting dates or even numbering the comics like userfriendly so that when you have a large collection it does not become confusing. Loving the comic btw.

Answers like these are normally answered by the all knowing wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snickers

Get him to call him a whuffo instead ;)

I would suggest contacting immigration and asking them, it will put alot of thoughts to rest. Most people who over stay visas also do it because they like the country.

Sorry for my short post before. Her getting injured in skydiving is there but there is a high probability she wont get hurt if she plays it safe. This is the same with tandem. So if you stop her from doing AFF because of this mindset you really shouldn't give her Tandems. Because if she put her foot down wrong or something a skydive is a skydive to a whuffo. I personally think after 3 tandems she would get to know what it is like and it would be more of a tease than anything giving her another one. I would suggest putting the money aside, and use this towards her AFF/gear or even tunnel time when she graduates (and SHE is comfortable doing AFF without the added pressures). I just know how much tandems are and how much AFF is and cringe at the thought of that money being spent and not having a license to show for it.
-
Is there no risk in a tandem?

I dont believe i wasted that amount of time to get such a bad ending. Grrrr.

It is not skydiving movies fault, its firefox does not know how to handle those files. I just save them to the hard drive, makes life alot easier and I have a nice collection now ;)

I broke my leg because someone didn't look where they were going in a car park. Anything we do can injure us, I would not use this as a reason to stop her from jumping. Plus her being fit would mean her body can take more hard knocks than the average joe. Tandems are great but I would suggest investing in getting her a license. Even if she has a few months off after it, at least the money was well spent and she can pick it up again when she is finished. Just remember to drill into her the basics, do not land down wind (if avoidable), if in doubt PLF, and flare at the right height. She is lucks he has a mum like you, wish i got hand me down gear.

Riggers - do you pack your OWN reserve? (read the post before voting)
op5e replied to skydiverek's topic in Gear and Rigging
I could understand a rigger getting someone else to pack their reserver for two reasons. 1. The far fetched theory that if you do something wrong that you might have done the same thing wrong with the reserve. I know shouldn't be a rigger then but it is a mindset. 2. Some people take alot more care when it is someone elses life in their hands. I am not a rigger fyi but I have heard these arguments before in different situations. -
I would check your op regs to see what the rules are in your country. In australia the rules are: "5.1.8. An approved and functioning visual altimeter set to indicate height above the DZ shall be worn on all descents. The altimeter shall be securely mounted so that the wearer can observe it without difficulty throughout the descent. An ASO may authorise an exception to this regulation for specified descents where the delay does not exceed 10sec. Such authorisation must be made in writing." I am still way off in being able to judge height either under canopy or in freefall. I will definately try to play the guessing height game next time I go up.

Someone recently said that if I wanted to do xyz I should have 200 jumps. This is because I would have a good chance of having the experience in handling a range of undesirable situations by this time. This to me turned a light bulb in my head that made me understand why there are jump number limitations for certain displines.

What can we do about Skyride?
op5e replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I do see someone getting mates to jump and the DZ not making as much profit being very different to skyride. For one a TM would most likely not charge more than what the DZ is charging and hence the customer is not getting screwed. And the mates are probably aware that they are not buying a normal TM jump and that he is doing this as a favor (not that it matters much). Also the TM you would hope would be from a local DZ or at least let them know others are out there, and hence the customer would not have to drive for ages to use the valid certificate. But that is what is great about opinions, everyones got one. So if I read your email correctly (and the others in this thread) I would see a TM paying for a slot is very different than Skyride.
