  1. In all my years carrying a gun, I have also not needed it. In all my years skydiving, I have never needed an AAD. In all my years of owning a home, I have never needed a fire extinguisher. In all my years of driving, I have never needed airbags. The chance of needing a gun, an AAD, a fire extinguisher, an airbag are all also extremely low.... Does that mean we should just not use them? You do seem to think that anyone with the ability will use it.... Says something about you.
  2. Stereo type much? I happen to have a BA and a professional job... I have never owned a truck and have never been hunting. Still want to claim that people who carry a gun are "idiots" and "stupid"?
  3. I think that if faced with a guy that has a gun and he is trying to kill you... The guy with a gun stands a much better chance than the guy without a gun.
  4. And would you approve of those same standards being applied to your car or motorcycle? Think of the benefit in reduction of car thefts! I haven't been in one.... So maybe YOU should not carry a gun in a bar, but why should *I* not be allowed? You asked why someone would want to have a gun... I have two examples for you:
  5. Then it is also reasonable to also believe that a guy with a car might have a few beers... Or that a guy on a Dropzone that has a beer fridge or a bar might have a few beers. If your car keys are in your pocket, what is going to prevent you from tying one on? I think that the legal driving limit and the legal carry limit should be the same... After all, we are talking about a guy ACTUALLY driving vs. a guy that just has something. That being said, I neither drink and drive, nor carry and drink. Why does a guy need to be armed at all? Why does a guy need a gun at home? Why does a car have airbags? Why do people jump with AAD's? Why is it smart to have a fire extinguisher in your kitchen? Maybe you should answer why a guy that is sober and can legally carry a gun in a restaurant, grocery store, mall, down the street... Cant carry in a bar? No only themselves and their family/friends. No, and just because YOU may think that way, it does not mean anyone else does. The same reason they are armed at the grocery store, the mall, the restaurant, the bank, the... well you get the point. Again, if a person is legally allowed to carry in ALL these other places... What specifically makes a bar off limits in your eyes?
  6. And I have read it SEVERAL times now. You are starting to act like Kallend and his "I have said it before". Simple question.... Why should a sober person who has no criminal history, not be allowed to legally carry a legal gun in a bar? Because despite your dodging... This thread is about if a sober person should not be allowed to carry a legal firearm in a bar... nothing else.
  7. nonsense, you cannot defend your position so you are trying to move the goal posts. Can you give me a reason why a sober person should not be allowed to legally carry a legal gun in a bar? Because that is what this whole thread is about.
  8. And I would not suggest a suicidal friend shoot himself. But if you are unwilling to take away a friends car keys, his rig, all his medications, the rat poison under the sink.... Then why would you take away his firearms?
  9. Yes, I also know what a hypocrite is. When stated that you had to know a judge of be famous... You claimed people should try harder. Don't blame anyone but YOU for bringing that into the discussion. Fact is that you are up in arms anytime that someone tries to step on your rights.... But you are quick to try and stomp on others rights you don't like. And you replied that people should try harder, thus owning your position... I am here, I don't know where you are.
  10. Well you act like you know that.... But you don't talk like you know that. Yes, you and others seem to think that a guy that is in a bar MUST drink. You started that.... You will get what you send out.
  11. Oh look.... A dodge.... How, normal for you. When stated that you had to know a judge of be famous... You claimed people should try harder. Don't blame anyone but YOU for bringing that into the discussion. Fact is that you are up in arms anytime that someone tries to step on your rights.... But you are quick to try and stomp on others rights you don't like.
  12. ALLOWED to be armed in bars.... Not should people be allowed to be armed and DRUNK in bars. Can you find a single person saying a guy that is drunk should be allowed to operate or even carry a firearm? If not, then it is YOU that is trying to change the meaning of the OP and this discussion. Same to you.
  13. Seems that once you run out of facts to back up your positions.... You start the insults...... You would not support having to know a judge to get a pilots license.
  14. No, we are discussing why a person who is sober should be prevented from being armed. NO ONE said a guy that was drunk should have a gun. Nonsense. Provide some data to back up your conclusion.
  15. Not pulling on a skydive does a great job as well... Maybe better. Would you suggest that if anyone thinks that their friend is depressed that they remove their skydiving gear?
  16. Various ranges, from almost contact to around 50 yards for pistols. The normal range for pistols is touch to 25 yards. Fact is that even with all the "training" (Military/Sport shooting/fun shooting) I still miss at times. Even with all the training... I know that stress has an affect on performance.... And those that do not know how they will react to the stress just can't even imagine.
  17. So when someone in the US thinks that Germany is going to shit... The Germain's should worry? If someone in the US thinks that England has emasculated its people to make them rely on the Govt to provide.... The Brits should worry? And as for "now"..... The World has pretty much always thought of the US as strange. "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.” -- Churchill "There is nothing the matter with Americans except their ideals." -- G.K. Chesterton "Americans are so enamored of equality, they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom." -- Alexis de Tocqueville "America is a large friendly dog in a small room. Every time it wags its tail it knocks over a chair." -- Arnold Toynbee I could go on... but other countrys saying bad things about the US is not exactly new.
  18. Well then you, and folks like you, should quit using "assault weapon".... Since it is a term that is not correct either.
  19. And if the State said you had to know a judge to be able to get a pilots license.... Would you support that as well?
  20. Sucks for you that the judge also agreed with me.
  21. Ah more inane babel that adds nothing to the conversation. My service instruction for the week is to provide facts and data... Maybe you should try it?
  22. So you approve of the police confiscating property for no reason without a court order? I think it is actually the other way around. She comments on everything he does, but does not add anything of substance.
  23. Seems the current laws failed to work GCA of 1968 would not allow this person to own a weapon.
  24. No, a totally sober person in a bar is no additional danger. You can try to claim that a bar is a violent place, but then you should work on banning bars.
  25. Look at the SITUATION presented, don't add on additional situations till we have ironed out the original situation. And to answer your point.... Yes, people have gotten into fights over trying to take a persons car keys. But the point remains, what DANGER is a totally sober person with a gun?
