Went to one place when doing field service many moons ago, where the customer used to have a problem where every morning they would come in and the system would have crashed during the night , so we set a line monitor on the supply. Sure enough each night for a week it crashed with power loss at the same time. So we hung about my boss and me to the time it would go down. Sure enough little old cleaning lady came in and unpluged the system so she could hook up her vacuum. My boss wasn't to pleased. i went out to my car and nearly wet myself laughing. Sorry but in this day and age this just plan stinks. There is supposed to be closer cooperation between different counrty governing organizations. Me i did my AFF in spain and have returned and jumped their recently with no problem all i did was show my membership of bpa and FAA book and that was good enough. I don't know exactly how the Australia system works but to me i would expect just to do a checkout dive with a instructor in the uk to confirm your competence in the air after showing my log book to them. I would say try another dz, their revenue loss in the long run take your custom elswhere mate, good luck. I would also suggest making a complaint direct to the Bpa who has the aussie governing body in its links page. The sport is damned expensive enough in this country as it is, without redoing the same stuff twice. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun

I think it can be more rewarding sometimes to overcome a problem you have had to work really hard to achieve than something you have succeeded in first time

you wouldn't be talking about our beautiful scottish parliament building , off course it cost very little, it was only £400 million over budget but hey our smp have to keep up with the "jones" at westminster. The fact it is just a big coffee shop has nothing to do with the waffle inside. The thing i was trying to convey that we all may be part off great Britian but we have all individual identities. If you ask someone from wales they will reply "welsh" 9 times out off 10 same for someone from southern/middle england "english". Europe is a failed experiment on the part off France and Germany who dominate and basically only follow rules that suit themselves. If they inconvenience them or are against their national interest they just simply ignore them. That is the reason the Auditors have refused to sign off E.U. accounts for the last 10years. May be british in name but scottish in mind and body (where is mel gibson when he is needed ).Scotland is looking for full independence from westminster and no i am not nationalist, It may take time but we have that and a nation is not built over night. You only have to look at how many countries have appeared on the european map in the last 10years. We will make mistakes but we can get rid off failed politicians that is called democracy. That is why tony blair knows he has no chance off getting us into europe via a referendum as the uk public ain't that stupid to be bullied by government any more. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun

How often do you pack yourself?
pincheck replied to Antidote's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We don't have any profesional packers, there are university students who will pack for the price off a packjob to make money but the club prefers everyone to learn. Which is a good thing apart from making the jumper more knowledgeable about their canopy and is required to get the packing certificate to pack club kit. Going rate is £4 about $7.57 but you get that off kit hire if you pack yourself.Me i am still learning as at first speed and looking to get in the air as much as possible where always a hindrance. Sorry but i am not british! . Born and brought up in scotland. If asked i will reply i am scottish without thinking. That is just my national identity, it is nothing personal. Thats why we voted for develoution. The funny thing is the nationalist party who are pro total independence would then hand power to an unelected corrupt european parliament. Apart from that i would vote Antipodean. As Scots tend to emigrate and travel to settle down in almost every part off this planet. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun

Saftey first and always check yourself then get someone else to check you. never be worried if you don't know anyone on the load no one should question you about asking, if unsure ask a known instructor. End off the day you are ultimately responsable for yourself, so always ask. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun

Mini war story. Sad ending ... for my SHOE
pincheck replied to efs4ever's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thats quite funny as thats the first thing i do before even heading to our dz. Make sure laces double tied and yes spare pair off trainers in the car...just in case. personally seen 3 people loose trainers as they went into freefall due to untied laces. Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
