It hasn't been mentioned, but given that everyone who appears to know the name is based in or around CO, it's a fair bet that it's another case of Colorado jumpers washing their dirty linen in public. Hell, I could probably guess the DZ, and I live in Australia. Ouch.... Tripple ouch.... Being I am from Colorado and I don't recognize the plane or any of the jumpers, I will be the first to say, I don't think so... There are rules against personal attacks on this forum... What about attacks against a whole state.

So, how "natural" do those balloon suits feel???

So over the last year I have pretty much downloaded skydivingmovies.com to my hard drive, or at least it seems that way.... Tonight I found this little S-Video output on my laptop and said, "I wonder if that little bugger works." Sure enough it did! On the big screen I watched some of my favorites... Waisted approximately 2 hours until the battery light came on the laptop and the dog had his legs crossed saying, "can we go outside now, dad???" Here was my playlist... arsvideo2003 from Skydiving Movies.com (highly recommended) psyho (highly recommended) 911_movie from skydiving movies.com (I love San Diego, jumped there last spring) hophophopart1-2 from skydiving movies.com (Despite the fact it uses real audio as the compression, I really liked it - can you say funky music and stylish editing) Go Fast Swoop Comp with Jay Moledzki's distance record (Shameless plug for my video, but I wanted to see it on a TV) So what are your favorites????

Lets see.. I am not from fort carson myself, but I will ALWAYS join a 4way, and I jump at longmont every weekend... So, whatcha doing this weekend????

Well, I travel a lot for work... Vegas was always a "safe spot" as I don't gamble... So my money used to stay with me... But, that was before skydiving... A few years ago I actually ended up in the lobby of Flyaway LV, as a wuffo... But I was real sick, so I opted not to fly... Well, I am going next week to Vegas for work... I won't have a car on this trip, so skydiving is out of the question.. But, I will be walking distance to the tunnel... Looks like now that I am a skydiver, Vegas just got more expensive... I have 5 hours in Perris... Do you think there is enough wind to fly on your belly in a RW suit in Vegas??? For a 6'-3", 210 pound guy, I fall slow... My average RW jump is 110MPH... I can fly at 98, but that sucks... I prefer 110-120... Can this tunnel do that? Or should I just count on wearing one of the tunnel issued baggy suits.... Any other hints so I don't look like a fool to my wuffo friends.... I know I am going to miss my booties if I jump a baggy suit. All that previous tunnel time should buy me some "impress the friends" points... Perhaps I need to sneek in a day before I let my friends watch.

Steve, I guess you will be in Canada when you get this... We will miss you a lot... I have nothing for the highest respect for ya... Watching you react and take accountability for your own actions was a great example to the community of skydivers... Your video CDs you gave me on your way out of dodge proved you do have an eye for editing videos and are a great flyer... I am honored that my video made it onto your compilation CD, as your videos were top notch... Say, can I come up and visit you sometime??? he he he... Sounds like you are going to a great place... But serious, I would love to see Vancouver... Travis Keep the CanuckInUSA login... Or maybe the powers that be will let you change it to CanuckWasInUSA....

The quote Fast found and copied to dz.com: The word "Instructor" keeps popping up... It sure does not look like the worse offender flies like an instructor... Doing 4way with him would be scary... Putting him with "students" would be worse...

I am impressed you remembered without the bump... Lets see who replies tomorrow!!!

I like what you said.

I am just starting my progression into being an instructor with the "coach thing" now.... And I would NEVER use fear.... But what do I know???? I know a few people who advocate training skydiving in a high stress environment (citing armed forces training programs)... Their argument is that the first jump is high stress, so keeping the training high stress is important to keep it "realistic"... That you have to learn in stress so your reactions and recall memory are predictable and correct under stress. I might buy into that more than horror story induced fear, as I can't see fear as being anything productive... Fear is not something a FJC student needs any more of... That is novice opinion... Maybe, if your DZ has issues with pinchecks and behavior inside the plane, perhaps that is good material for the "B" license checkoff dive... By then it might be digested in a correct way...

It is rare to see an AFF student in the fatalities... And I see many AFF students jumping each weekend... The system may not be perfect, but I personally am more worried about the "landing of a perfectly good parachute." when I see people I know and love taking the program...

What's the deal with skyhooks and camera helmets?
tdog replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks for asking... I asked a rigger the same question on Saturday, and I PMed Mr. Booth yesterday and he replied pretty much what he posted here... I guess it is a common question... I guess there is also a question of how "snag prone" is the helmet, huh.... A FF2 with no external accessories and no still camera, is about as snag prone as my full face RW helmet, and no one has told me to disconnect my Skyhook for that... True, the camera bay lid could open up and cause a snag and the chin cup has some snag points... I am interested to hear what people say here... When people comment, comment on what type of camera helmet are we discussing, meaning a fully equipped still/video rig with all the toys, or something "clean" with no external catches, like a FF2... edit... The reason I ask about the type of helmet, Bill said in the other thread, that the way to judge the sucess of an invention in skydiving is to judge if it saved more people than it killed... I wonder if we have an real world stats on skyhooks and cameras???? -
You get brownie points for remembering to post without me bumping the thread... Now, please let us know what Mr. Booth was doing on the roof talking about canopies... Me thinks this story might be a good one.

Like someone else said, I have found "problems" with turning fast one way, then fast the other... Good way to make line twists, as my coaches reminded me... I have never spun up on an aggressive spiral... Up high (way up there on a high pull), I have experimented a lot... By initiating the turn smoothly, then letting up smoothly, I have been in a spiral where I was looking straight down and the canopy was on the horizon, and the G-forces were so great that my feet felt full of blood, and I felt real heavy in my leg straps, and I started to get light headed and my vision narrowed and I lost some color, I figured it was time to fly level for a while... I did not count the revolutions, but I burned thru 3000' of elevation pretty quickly doing this, I bet 15 times around... I actually remember thinking, "if this is what a sprial feels like at low WL, what does high WL feel like." Not that I am advocating anyone do what I did without coaching and advice, I am simply illustrating that at 1.15 WL you still can spiral aggressively without spinning up...

I am not a video person, and our DZ still has film.... But I wanted to throw in my two cents... When my mom did her tandem, she made 8X10 enlargements of a few good shots, and proudly hangs them in her office... If you are switching over to digital, make sure the resolution can make a good enlargement - AND - perhaps find a local retailer to partner with (coupons, fliers, etc) that can make photo quality prints off that CD, and educate the customer (especially those like my mom who does not think digital = prints), on how to make high quality enlargements... Second issue... A friend of mine showed me some CD-Rs he burned when they first came out... They all now are "blank"... It appears CD-Rs have a shelf life. Here is a quote I found online: Another quote Pre-recorded "pressed" CDs will outlast all of us... But will CD-Rs??? So, how as a DZ, are you addressing the fact that Ms. Tandem in 10 years might lose all her photos, when Ms. Tandem is not computer savvy and does not know how to reburn the CD or move them to hard drives, etc???? That is my opinion...

2K Composites - FF2 - Who's using this helmet?
tdog replied to Dumpster's topic in Photography and Video
I think I am going to get a FF2 from Mr. Miami... So, those of you who love the FF2 - which cameras are you guys using.... I have seriously looked at the PC1000 and the HC42... I am not interested in debating in this thread, which is a better camera, as far as picture quality and technology... But, "form factor" and how it fits with this helmet... -
Which direction do you wear your closing pin necklace
tdog replied to Superman32's topic in The Bonfire
I voted any way it falls... But then I thought about it... From my perspective, it ALWAYS goes to the left... Why? I am right handed and the clasp is always in my right hand, and the loop always in the left, when I put it on... That determines which way the necklace rope is put on, which is connected to the pin... -
Spectre 230 is about as small as they get... Maybe a Spectre 190 too in a rental rig not for students... The rest are Navigators and Silhouettes...

Bump... It is a new day... Someone put up a quote.

Jumping Restrictions near Denver
tdog replied to DickMcMahon's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Heck, I lived in the second largest metropolitan area in the US for 4 years... The apartment I lived in seemed to have neither running water, nor hot water, on a regular basis... I should have relocated a long time ago. There are a lot of people out here that wish all DZs in Colorado success... Good luck and hope to see ya around some day. T. -
That is for the PC1000 right??? And what are you filming??? here is that clicky http://www.cookiecomposites.com/

I think I might too... We have until the end of the year right before the change... These things are soon going to become "limited editions" - which immediately ads value...
-
You have to have at least a C license to get an AFF rating. Yep... You are right...
-
Good point... God, I do too... I love coming down from a 10 way or 4 way and saying, "that was my best ever." Doing a perfect block and hearing my coaches cheer me on is awesome, and that is much more important to me than a letter on paper... When I earn my AFFI rating (a long term goal) and a "D", then I really will be proud... The "C" just is so anti climatic to me... I have earned the "C" on paper, I know I have earned it... I just don't feel like buying a number to prove it... Maybe tomorrow I will feel different. The "A" means you can jump alone. The "B" means you can do night jumps and wind speeds are not as limiting... The "D" is the highest you can go. The "AFFI" means you are at the top of your game... What is the "C"? Just my two cents. But you have a very good point.
